I watching discovery channel Sci Fi Science: Physics of the Impossible about light saber and beam rifle, this is what Dr michio kaku has said about those two weapon:
light saber
-its actually a large plasma cutter
-plasma can be shaped using magnetic force
-laser has light property, it move in the straight line. Turn on a laser saber and it will shoot up till space if pointed upward...
-laser cant repel each other, it like using 2 torch light as weapon. The laser will went through each other. Plasma can't...

beam rifle
-It discharge particles at large speed creating force plus heat
-problem is that its effective in space but in atmospheric condition, the air will cool down the beam...


Can heat from this weapon cause the nuclear reactor in the moblie suit to be unstable and explode?..

unless they store ammunition with high explosive and gunpowder in the mobile suit..
could be fuel or chemical from the batteries? There's a fire hazard warning label on those batteries...

well you need fuel, heat and air to start a fire...
heat could be from spark or heat from beam rifle shot..
air from the live support system but who brings pure oxygen, remember what happen during apollo one? The crew is burned to death..
fuel from where? Why you need fuel when you got nuclear powerplant? Maybe for thrust?

I think we better remove our logic cap and enjoy the show rather than discussing weird stuff like why's there sound in space when there's no air?..
