You need Revenant A.Rifle with Heighten adrenaline Rush (the one that gives you 140% damage boost).

Revenant A.Rifle cut through everything like butter even on insanity; like i said it's like an AK47 with a giant ammo clip.
*
I do hate the recoil though. I have accuracy upgrades and it's still killing me. Most of the time I'm sniping. Yeah, I don't trust AIs with a sniper rifle even if it's Garrus or Thane tongue.gif A sniping soldier is fun. When the going gets tough, the shotgun is handy. I can't wait for the first Collector mission, I want the Widow rifle!

I find that there are 2 kinds of build for Soldier. One is the Heighten Adrenaline Rush + Commando build which is suitable for A.Rifle + Sniper. And another one with "something something" Adrenaline Rush + Shock Trooper build where it's great for Shotgun + A.Rifle.
*
I use the AR + Commando build. Mostly I use sniper rifle with assault rifle. Shotgun is handy for varren and enemies that manage to flank us. Or Harbinger who loves to hop over cover.

Heighten Adrenaline Rush gives you 140%damage boost, while the other branch of Adrenaline gives you 100% damage boost but increases your resistance to damage by 50%
*
It does? No wonder when I snipe without activating Adrenaline Rush, enemies don't die in one shot sweat.gif

Garrus? Tanking? I mean he dies less than in ME1 but Grunt is a better choice.

Soldier = use guns to kill your enemies. That's about all you use.

At one point in the game, you can choose 1 of 3 advanced weapons which include a shotgun, machine gun(Assault Rifle and SMG slots) and sniper rifle. I think someone mentioned here that you only get the weapons that your class can use. So, as an infiltrator, you'll probably only have access to the machine gun (Which is just a slightly less pungent pile of piss than a regular SMG) and the really powerful sniper rifle.

I'd go for the rifle.
*
I don't play anything other than Soldier, but I believe that other classes don't get a choice of weapon but a choice of weapons training to use other weapons.

So Infil will get a choice of Widow Anti-Materiel Rifle, assault rifle training or shotgun training while Soldiers get Widow Anti-Materiel Rifle, Revenant Machine Gun or Claymore Heavy Shotgun.

Am I right here?

Mass Effect 2 patch released:
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/62462

I am wondering whether I should get the regular Mass Effect 2 or the Limited Edition.
*
Thanks for the heads up.

CE is for real fans I guess. It has nothing a normal player would want except an armor and weapon set that is a hit or miss thing in the preference department. I have not even touched them. For me I like the Steelbook case (mine is chipped at the top mad.gif) and the other physical goodies it has. I believe the making-of dvd isn't as good as the one from ME1 though.

Absolutely. I'm using an XFX one temporarily to play Dragon Age and ME2. DA I'm using High while ME2 I'm using max.

Added on February 23, 2010, 7:30 pmI updated my weapons list with the weapon designation and locations (in spoilers). I'm not sure if the designations are correct since I got them from the wiki. No time to go ingame sweat.gif

The Hammerhead assault vehicle is coming to the Cerberus Network in late March!

Free to all Cerberus Network members, the Firewalker pack includes 5 all new missions featuring the Hammerhead. Hovering over the battlefield at up to 120 kilometeres per hour, the Hammerhead also boasts a guided missile system ensuring accuracy even during aggressive maneuvering.

Additionally we will be revealing a new heavy weapon available to all Cerberus Network members very soon. Stay tuned for more info on this new addition to the Mass Effect 2 arsenal, coming this month!
*
Cool. So much free stuff. There's still the Port Observation Deck empty, I'm guessing new squaddie (Kasumi) so even more reason to rejoice.

What is the stock story line without porting my old save game over?

Thanks.
*
Depressing in a word. Council dies, Kaiden dies, that's as far as I know. You won't get certain side quests and ME1 references either.

Mass Effect 2 is quite buggy, my main character gets stuck in places every now and then.

Thereby requiring me to start over for that particular mission.
*
Quick saves bro, quick saves rclxms.gif

Eh I can't seriously be the only one who has 100+ ME1 saves and is bothered by the 50 save limit of ME2.

'Shepard-Commander!!'

The look Shepard exchanges with Legion is pure gold. The 'uh oh, we forgot she's a quarian' look.

1.Collector come from Omega 4 relay, which is situated at the Terminus System which is outside the jurisdiction of the Council.
2.They usually use middleman like the batarian , merc to do their dirty work. They are quite shy. They go back to the Omega-4 relay as fast they come  out.
3.No ship ever survived going into the Omega 4 relay and come back to tell the tales.
4.They never attacked a human colony or other race colony  prior to ME2.
*
No.2 is from Mass Effect Ascension. It's a good book and it is referenced in ME2 (Captain Isin'Mal vas Idenna, the scout ship Cyniad, etc.).

Fortunately, the main plot is less confusing than the Geth after playing ME2.

Still very difficult to picture how the Geth functions particularly after ME2.
*
Legion does complicate things... but it makes for great dialogue. Shepard trying to get Legion's name and getting all frustrated is golden.

:/ I just realized something. I'm using my mobo's sound but in my game options I have sound processing set to hardware. Should it be software? I'm not really good at sound things.

Wow, sounds good.

Will buy that on release day.

Can't have a game without all its DLC.
*
Me neither. This is going to be a problem.

Any word on how many BioWare points are needed?
