Dear all,

I'm 39 carrying a basic AIA excelcare EC100 medical card since 2001. Thought of upgrading it years ago, but been told that that was an excellent product for the holder, and AIA don't do that plan any more....

My wife a practicing pharmacist in the UK, recently come back to Malaysia for good. She is 36 and with a super healthy lifestyle. Away from the NHS coverage from UK, I'm thinking of getting her a medical card.

May I know which company provides the best value in their product (only med card pls)?

As we are planning for childrens, people said it is more worthwhile if we getting it for a family as a group (when we ve children in the near future) is more worth it comparing to if we bought it for ourselves since we are not very young now. how true is this? Sorry my insurance IQ pretty low...

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi Kieff,

It's surely a good move to get your wife a medical card as the medical costs nowadays are not getting any cheaper. You can consider some of major players in this field like AXA, GE, ING, Prudential etc for this. As there're no single best medical card in the market based on people's varying needs you should consider your requirements carefully before deciding on this.

Cost of insurance does rise according to your age and medical requirements too would vary based on the age which is why it's advisable to get the medical insurance or for that matter any type of insurance earlier.

I represent GE & if you require a standalone medical plan from GE for your wife then it would cost anywhere from RM678 to RM1451 for her age group and profession. A family package would entitle you to a discount. Let me know if you need any further info on these.

Cheers,

HH

Thanks, my wife happened to meet an agent from AIA claiming that their medical card is lifetime unlimited. While almost all insurance companies all have lifetime limit. Does anybody know what are the hidden things that lay behind, as i truely don't think their actuaries will come out something like that. Thanks for sharing!
