hello!
maybe this has been discussed before, but i searched and searched... wanna ask the opinion of all the experts here, which racquet is best suitable for a tall lady beginner. Any brand is fine, but has to be affordable, as its only for recreational purposes... thanks ya!!  smile.gif

roughly how much tax will KASTAM charge? the last time i bought something from manutd.com, i was charged 30%. crazy man....

and i thought sport goods won't be taxed. i was sooooooooo wrong....
*
My 2 cents.

There is no such thing as rough estimation on tax bro, every single thing got fixed tax bracket.

There's a tax docket that you can check with custom or via FedEx custom department.

For most sporting apparels, you will be imposed Import Duty Tax of 20%, and Sales Tax of 10%.

Sporting equipment will be tax free.

next time its wise for us to check with the Custom prior to buying.

And i believe it's stated in the Terms and Conditions in the website.

Just 2 cents...

i'm not so sure on how they calculate... but i think they suka2 tax... i ordered a racquet & they tax me for the racquet cover but not the racquet... muahahaha... dumb azz
*
My 2 cents.

The custom is certainly not a dumbazz bro..

Most of us just cudnt careless to check with the custom first whether is tax is applicable on what goods.

As for your case, all Sporting goods like tennis racquet is tax free.

Other sports apparels will be tax. Fixed at 20% Import Duty Tax plus 10% Sales Tax.

And, the racquet cover will be tax. Its in the tax docket.

Thats the reason you or you forwading agent should declare that the "racquet comes with cover". Then it will be tax free for both.

However, if no declaration being made, the custom will not charge for racquet as its tax free. but the cover will be tax accordingly to what type it is. Ranging from 10% to 20% (Import Duty tax) + 10% (Sales tax). Depending on material type.

Need to bear in mind that if you are unsatisfied, you can appeal at the custom beforehand on the tax (i.e. tennis shirt for personal use).

Before buying, you can call FedEx and check with what goods will be tax.

Just 2 cents worth.

???? wha piang!!! Racket cover? Also want to tax?!!! how much was the tax?
You should see director or report to newspaper and show proof that racket cover also kena tax, totally lose respect for this type of character , the consumer should not keep quiet, no matter how small make a huge fuss, local newspaper here wrote GOLD BARS have no tax, racket cover want to tax........

How to 2020?!!!
*
How to 2020 if we play tennis onli and do not bother to check the tax bracket. ( if importing on our own)

Dun la blame everybody fren.

Hahahahhahaha...

My boxer oso kena tax liao...

Hahahahahhaa....

But having said that, you can be exempted from tax if you declare that "the racquet comes together with cover".

Some more if you keep quiet onli, how do Custom know that you are using it for personal use mah...

Common sense or not, thats how the tax is.

Bought from tennis warehouse several times oredi. This is from my experience.

First time buy, did not bother to check. kena tax. I maki everyone including the gamen. But its my fault, so i double check again.

Any tennis shirt or shorts; Import Duty Tax 20% + Sales Tax 10%
(federer shirts all small size in KL mah, so need US size XXL)

Any tennis shoe; Import Duty Tax 20% + Sales Tax 10%

Any tennis racquet; Tax Free.

Any Sports Accesories; depending on type and material, but mostly Import Duty Tax 20% + Sales Tax 10%
(need to double check again)

But again, you can always write for appeal to Custom explaining that its for personal use. They might consider.

p/s : people from Custom advice me, because i buy so often. "if you order shirts or shorts amounting not more than RM500, usually we dont tax. The amount indicate personal use"

Just 2 cents onli.

If I order tennis string how? Is that tax free, 4 pieces only.
You can see how desperate I have become...... cry.gif
I appreciate your input on this, coz this is the first decent answer I have come across.

Cheers!
*
it is just an opinion bro.

And it is not desperation bro.... its sheer passion.

Hahahaahahahha...

u're utmost right, Federer's range of shirt and short was meant for kindergarden onli. Not for adult here in Malaysia. Seriously frustrated. went to Nike boutique, they said "its an asian size". Well, hello... next time bring the European size la. Dont be so cheap.

As far as declaring is concern; I found out that there’s a different between Personal Use and Personal Effect.

Personal Use meaning a brand new shirt and shorts intended for personal use, still applicable for tax.

Asked Tenniswarehouse to put it as Personal Use; they agreed. No problem.

Personal Effect meaning used shirt and shorts intended for personal use, not applicable for tax.

Asked Tenniswarehouse to put it as Personal Effect (and without the receipt); they refused. Bugger.

Now, when shipment arrived at KLIA, it runs through Custom. Should Custom identify your item as Taxable, they will inform FedEx. And FedEx will call you prior to clearing with Custom. Whether or not you want to pay the tax its entirely up to the customer. It’s Standard Operating Procedure.

FedEx can….. however declare your item as personal effect. And you might get away with tax. Its up to FedEx when it reaches KL.

It depends on luck how strict the officer was. If FedEx declared as Personal Effect, but if checked and found out that it isn’t, FedEx will be given a penalty of a thousand over. (This is what they told me). I told FedEx that it was totally insane taxing over a shirts and shorts. And its XXL US sizing anyway!!

So the FedEx guy said he will try. And I did mentioned toooo many time that somebody told me I must take this form and that form for appeal. I want to see this guy la, that custom guy I know la….but ask fedEx to go and see la…(I lied..no such from lar..Hehehhe)..

So finally FedEx said they will try to declare it as Personal Effect and Use. He did said that if Kantoi, FedEx kena bayar all the penalties.

Hey Presto, it went thru. Total for all item was a thousand over. Tax nearly 300 plus.

But then again, I might get lucky.

Next time, if you buy something from TW, ask FedEx to hold the item, self collect at KLIA. Write a letter appeal for tax less. Who knows.

And i know, doing thing based on luck is never ever good.

Oh well, live goes on.

p/s: i bought quite a few federer shirts. but this time around from Tennisnut in UK. cheaper (currency factor). Ask them to send it to my mate house. Done.

Do Kastams pay tax for the BMW they get?

*
Eventually everybody in Malaysia will have to pay tax.

Including custom.

I'm not aware of anything pertaining custom with free tax BMW. Is it in the news? Have not watch/read them for ages.

If it did happen, its against the rule. And nobody can get away with it.

The only group of people entitle for free tax cars was profesionals working abroad.

and i'm not working with custom nor the gamen.

Okay. Enough with Malaysia gahmen.

Back to tennis....

I'm a beginner, who want their asses whooped?

hahahhahahaha...
