IIRC only 2 arcs were animated:

ZoE: Idolo

ZoE: Dolores

Idolo is a fairly short OVA which is played as pretty straight forward tragedy. It recounts the events leading up to the Deimos Incident tragedy.

Dolores is a 26-episode TV series set several years after Idolo and represents an interesting take on the universe from the POV of a family trying to stay together in face of socio-political events mostly out of their control. The tragic protagonist of Idolo, Radium Lavans reappears as the baddie in Dolores.

edit: For the record, I think this is a vastly underrated franchise that deserves far more attention than it is getting. IMHO Gundam fans suffering from bishounen plot armour and haro fatigue will find the well thought-out politics and highly detailed universe of ZoE comparable (if not superior) to that of the golden era of U.C and certainly miles ahead of the newer alternative Gundam stories

ZoE: 2nd runner aka Anubis: Zoe of Enders is a video game. Chances are you saw the cutscenes from the game.

The anime is sort of old... and it didn't have the awesome cell shaded mech art/graphics like the orbital frames did in the game.

But ZOE still has the bestest mech design ever. <3 Orbital Frames.

The pilot cockpit located at the robot's cock = phailed.

ZOE was my favourite game of all time, and Idolo is a good complement OVA to the games. I haven't seen Dolores yet, actually.

Don't diss the cockpit design. I feel proud controlling a phallic mecha that symbolizes a man's burning spirit as a whole.

C'mon Kojima, make ZOE3 already!

WRT Dolores: IIRC, the animation quality was only so so and obviously on a limited budget. If you are watching the anime for the mecha, IMHO the only really cool looking one is Anubis (makes a cameo towards the end). To me, given the weird design, I don't really care about the mecha, but enjoyed characters and the sense of world-building that goes on in ZoE. It's in all the little details that make the show interesting for me and impressed me that there was a lot going on in the background (that didn't necessarily relate to the main story). This is what science fiction is all about, and not just getting from plot point A to B. Perhaps I am in the minority, but if you catch my drift, then you should pay more attention to the series. smile.gif

ZOE > gundam

there is a lot of mecha design better than gundam

ZOE is a very good example
vandread is also another example
