How I wish that I can have a teacher/sifu like you, a true "贵人" like you.

I don't think there is an English word for "贵人".

Well, "贵人" is someone who offers to help us unconditionally when we are in deep trouble.

I always like to think that if there is a "贵人" be there to help us, it is easier and faster for us to achieve the dream of building a successful BH, as we would not need to beat around the bush and especially be exposed to the risk of being conned by the conman.

Who are our "贵人" and how to find "贵人" ?

It all boils down to one thing: when the "贵人" turns up, are we ready to welcome him/her? Or put it in another way, is it worth for the "贵人" to offer something to you?

As such, we need to observe and think, think and observe..Just like the bird, observe, judge and think before making decision to stay in your BH and confirm that your BH is a "贵屋".

It is most important that we should make ourselves well-prepared to meet the "贵人".

Be sincere, honest and humble I believe we will be able to find him/her soon...

Any sifus experienced with stainless steel corner, can share the disadvantages? Am using 1" X 6" plank so can i use 5" x 6" for the steel corner? Presently using wood plank but the nests are small and odd shaped.

the secret is....... get started as soon as you can and then observe and fine tune your birdhouse based on the pecularity of your birdhouse.

The amount of info you get in a forum or blog can be overwhelming and distracting especially for newbies.

A good starting point are places like www.swiftletguide.com Jump start and saves you loads of time if you are a beginner. Also give you confidence. After you have your birdhouse up then take your time to go thru the forums or blogs.

Don't expect the forum members to give detail answers, also they cannot read your mind and know what you want to know. You have to follow the discussions and pick up the "secrets" here and there.

I am new to swiftlet and would like to attend some seminar from  Pak. Han and other that you and other Pro-Swiftleters think are worth attend, please provide links to seminars thanks a bunch.

Swiftlet Farming is only 123 if you understand the theory behind it.  There is actually no secret in this industry.  Why waste time attending seminar if you don't know the basic knowledge.  Sorry I am not referring to Pak Hen's seminar as I do appreciate his effort after reading his blog.

Learning making Aroma, Amonia etc is only an added advantage to your BH.  They play as an advertisement tool to promote your BH to birds.  However if your BH basic requirement is not there, ie not suitable for birds to stay, and why not you think like a bird, will you stay if you are a bird?

Don't believe in those nosense that good sounds and good aroma helps you to increase your BH population.  They are working (they do attract more birds to come) unless your BH's condition is suitable for bids to stay.

Maybe that's happened in your area but here, I believe that the more men venturing into the trade, the better for everybody as if we can have a 100 BHs in an area, we will have possible tens of thousands of new birds each year to satisfied everyone. Think positive and in fact I personally advice so many of the town folks to venture into this business and teaching how to do it, showing them photos and infact going out of the way to sell the idea. I am superb sellman convincing many town folks to venture in to  BH industry but without pay that .... so much so that most of the town people now blame me for the increasing properties value in the town.........from Rm300,000 property no taker even after 6 months  to Rm900,000 ready buyer. Even old pre-war building get Rm700,000 which last time was offering Rm150,000.

Developers and contractors are laughing to the bank and so are all properties owners. Small agriculture land selling at Rm8K per acre before can now demand  Rm70K per acre because Birdmen are crazy men...............................................poor farmers are becoming rich overnight and all thanks to the swiftlets. Alot of those complaining about the BHs didn't know that they have already make huge profit from the industry. The very house or land that they have now fetch many times more and only birdmen will buy.................

tan2020 can you pm me the sifu from oversea that you mention above his books, and contacts if this is for real. I like to give him my 3 bows to be come his students, or this is a joke hehehe.

How did you do that ? U filed an ownership claim to Youtube ?? I never thought Youtube can act upon it so promptly.

When one person makes suggestions or posts ideas that a certain action will increase their harvest, MANY PEOPLE WILL, regardless of religion, belief, ethics etc. be tempted to try it out! Be reminded that many read this forum but do not post.

I am sure by now, many people are contemplating this repulsive action.

Anonymous forumers are here to gain knowledge on how to start or improve their involvement in the EBN industry.

Most animals have a natural instinct to preserve and propogate their species. Under breeding stress, as when they have their nests removed, chicks killed(naturally or otherwise) or eggs stolen or infertile, the instinct will be to build or reproduce as quickly as possible. This may also bring upon the earlier sexual maturity of otherwise immature young. So in effect there may be a sudden increase in nests.

Remove nests too often in a BH and the birds may also conclude that this place is not good to live in !

This increase in nests may not be because of the increase of population in the BH. In fact the contrary may be the case when baby birds are left crying before dying. The message is clear from the crying that this place is dangerous! Switch off your sound and you'll see how loud these birds are.

A natural balance of smell from bird droppings, naturally dead birds, broken eggs etc. makes the house seem natural to newcomers but increase the ammonia, Hydrogen sulphide and methane in the BH and it becomes dangerous and unbearable to the residents.  This is especially so with low ceilings in houses when compared to caves.

The killing of nestlings and the destruction of eggs is absolutely unnecessary and in fact may be detrimental in the long run for you BH.
