I am amused by yr signing-off quotes :-

"One stupid person working is better than 100 persons doing nothing"

"Let the TRUTH prevail"

Lets get it straight . If that stupid person is stifling or killing the SF industry do u still think its all for the better. If that stupid person has prior knowledge of meetings n drafted guidelines to regulate this industry n no communication is extended to those people/ assocns concerned, whats yr view. Can u ask him to reveal the TRUTH.
I am sure u are not wearing blinkers n ear plugs. Plain biased support for a friend without rationale is just not on.
Whats your TRUTH then ?

Salutation n Felicitation to the TEAM in Kedah n also also our heartfelt thanks to YB MB n his Officers for their fair n farsighted view of the SF industry not forgetting Dr Redzuan . I believe the favorable n positive outcome of the Kedah Meeting will hv a bearing on future meetings to be held by the other states n hopefully a win-win situation will arise.

Next stop Perak. Our M'sian SF Idol has been invited to do his presentation to the Perak JPBD, no date mentioned. I wonder whether Dr Redzuan will be there too .

Mr David, I agree with Chan that a National organisation need to be formed for the interest of all BH owners. Yes there will be problems for such a big
body I am sure with yr vast experience you can lead n show the way. Any good suggestions, Brothers ?

My experience with mist spray syst in d/s shoplot ( water pump ,Valve n nozzles[30] cost RM 880 ; pipes, clips , joints, workmanship not included ).
First check the RH level on both top n grd floor , my case top flr RH always low 63 to 73 n grd flr good ard 80 . This is becos top flr with Open Roof ent. tends to be drier . Temp for both flrs good 28 to 29+.

The trick now is to instal the optimum no. of nozzles on each floor. Its obvious that the top floor needs more nozzles than the Grd flr. There is a way out if u feel that u hv installed more nozzles on a floor .More work to be done by removing those nozzles OR fix a Valve [ with a tap handle] to close off water supply to those nozzles. I fixed a valve for my grd flr leaving a few nozzles to get right level for RH .

Timing of mist spray, it all depends on the season. No problem for me with plank molding. Caution : get a reliable timer N if u change yr time ensure u totally erase the memory before u set a new time for the mist spray.Imagine m/spray running for 12 hrs per day , they think I'm rearing water fish....ha ha ha! . True, water sipping to next door n flowing down the stairs , complaint fr neighbor so buy him sharks fin soup with bird nest (asli)

Maintenance : not much , change water filter ev few month but only worry is the Water Pump break down. Some nozzles do get blocked n water dripping on floors n will be wet, not that bad. Use water basins to contain drips. Oh yes lock yr water meter tap outside yr bldg.

Not a technical man myself I hope this infor helps.

Ben , U remind me of a v.good movie , One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest starring Jack Nicholson (won 5 academy awards).Crazy he may be but good at heart, helping the other inmates agst brutal guards. U know what, the way U r going, in no time yr BH will be filled with crazy birds doing their best- nests, nests n more nests ! U can be so contagious even those sw will behave like U. lol. All the best on yr next sw journey.

Hei Westwing, I dont know what U mean by HN but I can only guess U r referring to one with flat head. If I'm right well the 'old' HN had many stories abt him not flattering ones.
Politics? Susah , never ending talk , U got yr views I got mine n ultimately it 'll lead to animosity .
This country prospered cos of the entrepreneurial spirit of her citizens. A Malay selling good nasi lemak or mee rebus n along the way make some good money is an entrpreneur. Likewise the Indian with their good restaurants etc. U know what they dare to try n they reap their rewards. No one shd take that away. Then come this daredevil who invested in a shoplot where nobody wants to rent from him so convert it into a BH became successful. Dont underestimate the SPIRIT of these entreprenurs. They see the potential n try on their very owngut feelingwith no outside help. Why penalise them instead of nurturing this infant industry to greater heights. Very sad to repeat what the others had said.
I hope our Govt leaders can see the greater picture n look after these investments . Foreign direct investments had plummeted tremendously.Even the Govt is encouraging us,consumers to spend more to boost the economy. Bh owners already played their part, U name them we have spent on them except on China dolls.

Its good to have Ben around to lift our spirit once awhile. Yes we r in feverish mode. Pls help.

On a lighter note, this friend of mine spent a lot of his nites out with friends boozing so much so that his wife was complaining that he was neglecting her.One night she put on her sexiest negligee' n waited for him to come home from the pub . He put his arms ard her n went upstairs together, sensing that her hubby is finally in the mood for love she was excited. My fren asked her to do a handstand in front of the long big mirror.Being something new n kinky she was really thrilled. Then he put his chin in between her legs n said my friends at the pub say I look good with a beard.

Good day folks!

Well, well, well we farmers are really a bunch of boxers trying to block punches left n rt, n under n above, macam macam pun ada . No peaceful road ahead , a bloody long n winding road. One good news fr Ben immediately drowned by news of bad practises by govt officers. Malaysia truly Asia what a waste of advertising fees ! So what happened to the confiscated b nests ?

Westwing, I share yr concern with regard to noise pollution by BH. I had dinner in a swiftlet area at abt 8pm n one BH was terribly loud with its ext n int sd. Beside it is a Kumon learning centre for kids. These are the "Rogue" BH owners who are giving the real owners a bad name. I can say this BH is not doing that well n if not wrong owned by an outstation fella n with this type of attitude just wonder when the other successful owners in that area will face problems with the authority. I once had a friend advising me to cut out all int sound but leave only a single twitter to play the int sd from 8pm to 7am so not to kacau neighbors. I'm ok with my sd, next door ok too.

Hi ChanK
Are u 100% positive that a certain assocn has the authority to" qualify "a BH owner to" apply" for the licence. What about the local authority issuing the licence ,another matter , right?
If its true then we will be playing Monopoly. Seems like another exit point tax ,better than white gold! Pls call in the Ghostbusters.

Ok , sidelined a bit from the main issue. This fren went over to Sabah for golfing holiday. At nite after a good seafood dinner n a few drinks will lead to u know lah.... birds. So the sweet young thing ask him whether he wants air-cond. or not ,sure he said aircond. This lady asked him to take a shower to clean up. After he dried himself the girl took a Hacks sweet n do a b...job on him.

How often does one encounter a young swiftlet resting on a potted flower plant in an open car park.? The cats roaming the area will make a meal
out of it if I dont do somethg. I put in a box n brought it home during lunch hr. last Wed. In the evening forego my golf game , bot some worms, mashed them up n fed it laced with my leftover bn water. Not an easy job , cos its such a delicate creature. My only worry was that will it make thru the nite. With my spare amp n tweeter played internal sd before I went to bed.
Thurs morning went to check n found its ok. Fed it again n it managed to fly to the window curtain.Swiftlet instincts early morning out they go to look for food.I did observed its flight n sure its not that strong enough to fend for itself. Noticed some greenish white shit spots in the cardbox, I might hv scared the shit out of it, like we use to say.But at least food digested. So I
decided to keep it another day n see how it goes.

Fri morn. I made the baby sound si...si...si and its 2 big eyes look at me..huh foster papa calling. I knew then its going to be alright. More shit spots.
Told my wife to feed it again at noon. She called me n she had a hard time feeding it cos it kept on flexing its wings n somehow flew to the window curtain again. My feelings tells me that its time to let it go. My mrs suggests to let it fly from our BH. I agreed n went up to top flr ard 1pm n let it perched on the sytrofoam. 2 swiflets were playing ard on the top flr with the male really hot on the female. They couldnt be bothered with my presence n even flew ard me. Good company for this young swlftlet n on familiar surrounding.I took 2 photos before I left.

My wish was that it will be strong enough to fly out n look for food n survive. Doesnt matter it will make my BH its home afterall this is a Birdman's calling.

Hi Chank
I hv looked at the various pages but nothing mentioned about invitations made to BN assocns or the public to attend this meeting.Looks like only the various govt dept heads are invited n its a 3 day seminar which I believed is a high powered discussion. Correct me if I'm wrong.

KUDOS to all brothers/sisters now in Seremban. This simple little industry is at a crossroad , a very crucial one. Cool heads and calm nerves will always be called upon when facing such a situation. Like our fren, Eng. Lee said HOPE is what we believed in. Some of us may not be with u all in S'ban but morally n spiritually we are right behind u.

First thing first David Lim's Master Piece on swiftlet farming shd be in the hands of the Johor BN assocn(JBNA) n need to be translated into Bahasa Malyasia.THen only can make arrangemt to meet up with the proper authorities thru every mean possible. Johore is a big state ,each town having their own assocn., another problem on coordination of efforts but nothing to hold u all back now.

I do believe DL's guidelines covers a lot of ground to counter whatever is being illogically or irrationally proposed by Johor Authorities(thru the guidance of some inconsiderate people). So Johor farmers do yr best to overcome this nightmare.
