A young man had recently asked me a question which made me blur-blur and pondered over it for a number of days. Till today, I am still unable to get the answer. The question he asked is, besides the BH farming industry that is booming and sustainable on an upward trend as there is readily a constant demand, is there any other industry or business that is growing like this or better than BH farming industry in Malaysia that is worth investing in for long term?

My dear friends, could all of you please help me to find the answer for the young man?

Wongtt, agreed with coolandy that you should read through this forum stating from V1. It may take you more than a week. By the time you finish reading you become half expert. It may save you many thousands. At least, you can differentiate the experienced designer from those CON-sultants so you don’t pay through nose. Definitely you have to engage an experienced designer and a contractor or designer cum contractor to do it for you for your 1st BH. Don’t get attracted by those who advertise in papers or magazines. Genuinely good designers don’t need to advertise.

Looks like you don’t have choice but to try to rescue yourself rather than like a sitting duck hoping the area becomes developed in no time. God only knows when.

Ideally, two floors are best for a BH. But, with limited budget, one floor is also alright as 22 X 80 is big enough. Do not do kennel or window type entrance any more. The latest proposed drafted national guidelines forbidding this type as it is true that this is the main cause of noise pollution. Open roof type is strongly recommended. Actually the costing of open roof should be much cheaper than kennel type. And also that it is not that eye catching. Don’t build any pond inside or outside the building. Don’t worry about security yet, just worry of how to attract birds first.

Before you start renovating, make sure you apply for renovation plan approval from the council through local draftsman or architect first as far as possible. You shall face lesser council problem later.

Once you embark on this, do have confidence. Do it till you succeed. Of course, don’t put too high expectation of having hundreds of nests in the first two years these days. You should consider lucky to have tens of nests in the first year esp in that type of area. After all, what choice do you have? Waiting for opportunity? Might as well create one.

One very important condition in Kuantan's guidelines shall be whether old or new BH, no DK or window type entrance is permitted. Only air-well or open roof type is allowed.

It has to be, at least for all the new BHs and also those existing BHs with DK or window types that are causing extreme loud noises. If you were to ask us, after so many years of helping dealing with complaints faced by the authorities, we conclude that 90% of the noise pollution actually came from these type of BHs. Open roof type seldom receive complaints unless the tweeters or those hezagonal tweeters fitted above the roof. Also 90% of all complaints received is loudness.

It seems that, just a few days ago in Georgetown, Penang, a number of BHs were served summons of noise pollution. Checked with the protem committee and the other local BH operators nearby, they confirmed that the complaints are justified. The errant owners have to pay RM 250 each. One stubborn owner had his sound system dismantled and consficated. It seems all the neighbours clapped hands. Coincidently, all these Bhs are with either DK or window type.

In Sungai Petani, there is a Taman Pekan Baru with about 100 units of 2 storey shophouse. 10 years ago, the market price dropped from RM 150 K (launching price) in 1994 to as low as RM 80K in 1999. Many were vacant, broken and abandoned as this location is not good for business esp the detailed type. Someone started the 1st BH there in 2002 with success. Subsequently, more and more abandoned shops converted into BHs.

By now, 75 units turned into BH with either one floor or two floors. The latest transacted price for a vacant unit is RM 250K.

3 years ago, theft in BHs in this Taman was most rampaging with average of few cases a month. Finally, in 2007, a few pioneers started to form a vigilante night watch team initially with the owners themselves. Later they appointed a BH owner living in the Taman to fully in charge by engaging a few local Malay boys to do the patrolling from 9pm to 7am daily. They collected RM 50/BH/address from every owner regardless of one floor or two floors each. Hence, the monthly collection comes to above 3K. This is more than enough to pay for the salary of the night guards. The extra goes to the person in charge.

During the 1st six months, the guards managed to catch a few thieves. Among the thieves, a few turned out to be local Chinese thugs under a gangster boss who is also a rather big time BH owner. Anyway, a couple of them were caught with their heads broken and landed in the ICU in hospital. Ever since then, no more theft in this Taman despites heavy BH theft is happening in other parts of the town. The owners in this Taman could now sleep peacefully since.

More than this, the person in charge also acted as an owner agent to attend to complaints from the authorities. Instant news could reach the respective owner timely.

This is a very good and effective model recommended be copied by all BH owners in whole Malaysia. This group of owners also explicated the advantages benefited by them through their strong unity and cooperation.

MY METHOD OF RIDDING OF SWIFTLET GUANO FROM THE BHS

1) Every time after harvest of nests in my BH, my workers would sweep and scoop the bird shit into the few large plastic buckets or plastic round washing containers which I placed in the 4 corners on each floor.

2) After a few harvests, the buckets are filled with bird shit. This shit is then transferred into the black plastic rubbish bags and kept in a corner.

3) Most of the times, a couple of my farmer friends would come and pick them up when it reaches certain quantity. I used to give them free. They ferment it into organic fertilizers. The latest batch of almost one pick-up load of shit was given to a new friend who insistently paid me RM 400 for it.

NIAH CAVE

In 2001, we visited the Niah Cave invited by Dr Lim Chan Koon who was doing research there and also the co-author for the book, SWIFTLETS OF BORNEO, BUILDERS OF EDIBLE NESTS. We witnessed the many local natives collected the guano from the floor of the Niah Cave and each carried this guano in bag of almost 40 kg slowly walked down the few km winding jungle tracks and wholesaled to the traders. Understand at that time the detailed price was RM 4/kg.

The composition of the swiftlet guano is almost equivalent to the bats as both are insectivorous. Understand that the quality of the organic fertilizer made from this guano is considered higher grade than those cattle, goat or chicken dung.

It may be high time for a new swiftlet organic fertilizer trader emerged with so many birds shit to be supplied for either free of charge or at very low cost from so many BHs in Malaysia these days.

TRUE ASSOCIATIONSHIP OR MERELY ASSOCIATION SENDIRIAN BERHAD UNDER DISGUISE????

Understand from those owner representatives who attended the last meeting in May 2009 with the Exco in charge of PBT and the State Perancang officers discussing on the proposed guidelines drafted by the Perancang for the Kedah BH industry that many proposed conditions were very stringent and bureaucratic and not friendly to the industry. There were two Persatuan attended. Namely the existing old Persatuan and the new protem Persatuan attended. Only four represented the old Persatuan whereas there was more than fifteen from the new protem Persatuan. Many of the stringent and un-friendly conditions were protested at by those representatives. Nonetheless, there wasn’t any conclusive decision made as the meeting lasted for only 45 minutes as the Exco has to leave early. Moreover, the booklet containing the proposals was only distributed during the meeting to the owners.

Very interestingly, two issues were worth mentioning here. A top committee from the old Persatuan proposed to the Exco that the State should insist that all applicants for the BH license must be members from his Persatuan and that applications must obtain endorsement from his Persatuan only. His argument was that during the latest meeting in Putrajaya with the PERANCANG NATIONAL that it was agreed all applications must be members from this Federation of Persatuan. However, his proposal was refuted by the Exco that it may be good for all BH owners to go through Persatuans, but it is not necessarily that it must be a specific Persatuan. The Exco further stressed, ‘what if there are some who don’t like you or trust your Persatuan and thus refuse to join your Persatuan? We cannot allow this. Anybody can apply through any Persatuan or as individual.’

The next issue was the proposed license fee by the PERANCANG, if implemented, would be the highest in whole Malaysia. It would somewhere between minimum of RM 750 to RM 1,800 per annual license. This was strongly protested by the reps from the protem Persatuan only. They proposed to copy the Parit Buntar or Telok Intan Model of only RM 200 each.

Immediately after the meeting, the top committee from the old Persatuan was ‘advising’ the protem Persatuan that ‘It doesn’t matter how much is the license fee just as long as we get the approval for the license.’ The protem Persatuan reps rebuked him that, ‘We are here representing the ASSOCIATION and not ASSOCIATION SENDIRIAN BERHAD, my friend.’

My dear friends, you know now why we need to have more associations instead of only one?

No reason why one is not allowed to keep worms in his BH or any shop house? Any owner can do anything in his shop house just as long as it is not illegal or causing public nuisances.

Instead of making permanent cemented trough inside the BH to rear the worms, I think we can use some fibreglass containers or troughs to do the same. Benchai, can we just throw the worms into the container filled with bird’s shit and leave it till our next harvest? Any website or blog on how to rear the worms?

BENKEL INDUSRI WALIT organised by the HAIWAN PUSAT at very last minute instruction from the PM OFFICE at THE ROYAL BINTANG RESORT & SPA, SERAMBAN, NEGERI SEMBILAN from 14.06.09 to 17.06.09 follow by a SIRIM WORKSHOP ON THE BIRD’S NEST INDUSTRY on 18.06.09

The objective of this Benkel is for the Haiwan to hold in-depth discussions with as much industry market players such as the farmers, the traders, the exporters and the manufacturers of the nest industry throughout Malaysia including East Malaysia. This discussion is to collect information, feed backs, suggestions and proposals from those involved. The officials participating in these discussions shall compile a very comprehensive report to be submitted to the PM by July 2009.

Due to too short a time, many Associations are not notified. Only a handful has been informed. It is expected the Haiwan officials will out-number the market players. Food and lodging is provided free upon reporting for registration, rightfully on 14.06.09 from 2.30pm to 6pm. For those who have been notified late and wish to take part to voice their opinions and suggestion, they can still do so as every day, the topic in the benkel is different. All is welcome.

On 14.06.09 -730pm to 830pm-dinner, 830pm-1030pm-kata aluan and perasmiam Benkel.

On 15.06.09 & 16.06.09 730am to 1100pm/12 mid night- very tight programme, crazy huh? But will be interesting.

On 17.06.09- only half day, bersurai after lunch.

On 18.06.09- SIRIM??????????????????Details not yet available.

Really crazy, crazy……………..but good try and well done from the HAIWAN. At least, this department is doing their best; hopefully it does help this industry.

I think the HAIWAN is making it into a Malaysian Guiness Record……………. I really admire their spirit……… They are all very nice and sincere people……….We should help them……….even if it is going to be karam-kabut………..

So, any one from here would like to join in ? Even part-time also no problem. Must give full support or at least show some support to the Haiwan official……. We already tried our best to get as many to go, but regret to say, too last minute and school just re-opened…..Understand 10 to 20 reps from Sabah and Sarawak are flying in……….What say you, Uncle Ben, West Wind, ChanK?????????? Not too late to join in, at least to say hello to old friends.

Understand DL is trying best to go too………

Our comrades, DL, GEM's Aziz, West Wind, Chank, Alex Sim, John Low and his gang from Sarawak and Sabah, Dato Beh, Mr Mah, Cheah and his Penang gang, Dr Tan and Dr Lee from Johore and many more are working hand in hand on the same sampan almost round the clock since 14.06.09 till today from 7am till after mid-night daily with almost all the key Pengarah and officers from the whole Jabatan Veterinar Pusat to rush out a very crucial and most important presentation of all time deciding the fate of this Industry. They are all doing their best. One very out-standing figure that salute must be given to is the Dato Tiger Lee of Negeri Sembilan Association. He is the only Swiftlet Association President who doesn't own any BH nor have any interest in this industry yet he helped and worked as hard as all the others.

Keep your fingers crossed, they have another 48 hours to push hard before they can stop. They will do their best.....................

Never use any aroma or love portion in a BH where birds already live in. If you feel that it would give you more confidence that you must use certain aroma inside a newly constructed BH with no birds living in yet, then use the traditional method, i.e. use real bird’s shit contained in plastic containers placed at the four corners of a floor. Spray some water on it periodically but not too wet so to let the natural ammonia smell come out. This is so far proven and considered the best aroma for birds. Cheap and good and last very long. Other methods to the experienced are all not proven or simply salesman talks to the newbies.

Anyway, don’t blame the sellers of the love portion or aroma after all they didn’t point a pistol on your head to force you to buy. It is willing buyer and willing seller situation. You do pay to learn a lesson from it. Don’t throw away the balance of the love portion. It is wastage if you just throw it away. Why don’t you try experiment it in your bed room to see if it works for you? Who knows it may work better on human……….hahahahaha……………………Better luck next time…………

It seems the forum has suddenly sprung into life again. Good sign, keep it up.

As to the 4 days hectic Benkel which DL and a few attended hastily, DL said he would try to make a summarised report to update all of us here later after he settles his other urgent matters first and at the same time to digest all the materials and info. Basically, it was a seemingly positive seminar in which the major market players or representatives meet all the senior Veterinar officials to brief and educate them in the correct understanding and fact finding of the industry. It looks promising to the future of the industry except that there are still a lot of works involved need to be done at high speed as from now.

There is a saying; one man’s food is another man’s poison. No two BHs can have the exactly same conditions and results despite they are next door to each other and belong to the same owner. One can have the truly best and proven aroma and best sound but if the BH designing is out or not liked by the birds, you still either end up no bird or slow grow. Remember, a BH with more than average growth is definitely equipped with all the conditions correctly fine tuned either knowingly or unwittingly. The most important fundamental conditions are ranked in the following order, 1) location, 2) the size and the height of the house, 3) the designing-external and internal, 4) the sound system, 5) the season, 6) the aroma.

To us, the old timers, the only aroma if we really want to use in a new BH is the natural one, i.e. the bird shit. But most of the time, we don’t even use it. The first 5 conditions are most crucial to determine the success of a BH. The rest is nothing significant. For those not successful or facing slow growths, it is advisable to pay attention to the designing. Once the designing is corrected, you can be assured of definite improvement. If you want to buy all the funny things, you might as well periodically donate the amount to the MERCY and the god sure blesses on your BH………….. Also, stop blaming on the seller; yourself should be blamed for your own action.

Well done, birdfarm. DL compliments you. He said this is good input. Keep it up and continue with the good work. More people should contribute in this way in this forum. Present in the justified arguements. This can be used to educate and convince the govt rule makers and departmental heads to have more understandings of our trade and thus make right policy. We do need to pool in a lot of justifications and substantiated reasons as to why the govt should view our trade very seriously for the long term and sustainable benefit and survival to the country and the people. This trade should be able to bring in a lot of foreign revenue to the people. When the people becomes rich, the nation becomes strong. Therefore, in order to maximise the potential, the govt should consider to simplfy all the procedures and do away the bureaucratic red tapes to convenient the flourish of the industry as soon as possible. This is the input and arguement presented by DL during the Bengkel to convince the authorities.

Our main opponants are DBT group which insist that we move but at least we have a PM and his team on our side.

West Wind, I beg your pardon, it is not DBT, it is PBT (PIHAK BERKUASA TEMPATAN) or LOCAL GOVT AUTHORITIES under the KPKT (KEMENTERIAN PERUMAHAN DAN KERAJAAN TEMPATAN or the MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND LOCAL GOVT. In another word, we are talking of the Local Councils or the Majlis Tempatan.

According to DL, it is not all the Majlis officials objecting to this industry in town. It is only a fraction of the officials who failed to have the correct understanding and knowledge of this industry and what benefits this industry can bring to Malaysia. During the discussion, it was the Setiausaha of the Seramban Council invited who spoke against BHs in town. He was referring to the old proposals of the Perancang of January and March failing to know that that proposals were already amended in May. But, what ever it was, the latest amended proposal allows existing BHs to continue to operate in town centre but subjected to further detailed conditions to be negotiated. Therefore the objection by that SU in the Bengkel was un-called for and excited many participants. The Pengarahs of the JPV esp the Legal Advisor of JPV were defending the BH owners. West Wind and few others were furiously arguing and defending too for the existing owners. This SU, according to BH owners in Seramban is dead against BHs in Seramban town. Our Tiger Lee is having headach from him.

In fact, during the Bengkel, DL highlighted and corrected that the organiser, JPV (JABATAN PERKHIDMATAN VETERINAR) was given by the KPKT the outdated proposal for the Bengkel.

The PM office has decided very recently to groom and to maximise this industry as one of the three HVI (HIGH VALUED INDUSTRIES) beside Arowana and the sea weed by instructing JPV under Ministry of Agriculture to play the lead role in the coordination of all depts and research study for a full report to be presented to the PM by mid July. That was the main objective of the Bengkel in which all key representatives were invited in last minutes to 'teach' them the knowledge of the industry. In fact, all reps who attended have to pay for own hotel and other expenses and some even paid for own meals. Looks like the other depts such as PERHILITAN and PBT etc are now the supporting roles. DL doubts that these depts are going to be happy and he thinks that there could be silent sabotages from them. The Bird's Nest industry in Malaysia is going to be the official 'BABY' under the JPV's care soon. DL says it is in better hand and he regards the JPV as very much more professional and friendy to the industry. All the top JPV officials are very friendy, sincere, humble, committed and dedicated. A few of the Pengarahs were so sincere, humble and honest to admit that they were new and lacked of knowledge of our trade and they invited the reps to guide and teach them so that they could help the industry to the best. DL says he couldn't believe there exist such good officials in Malaysia's Govt dept. Most of the officers he met for the past decades were arrogant and talked nonsence.

Generally, the Bengkel is something very special, positive, good and fruitful for the future of the Industry. Most participants had done their level best to give their best inputs in unity and worked real hard to rush through to complete the sacred mission. DL's comprehensive report on the industry had been printed and distributed to all participants and recommended as a 'must' reading material by the JPV. DL says this is the first time he saw real UNITY shown among all key representatives of the industry. Hopefully that such spirit should continue. This is the best and most important and productive meeting ever this industry has since its birth in Malaysia. This could be the beginning of the ending of the bureaucratic procedures with red tapes that haunted this industry since the past. Let's keep our fingers crossed to see if the JPV could really do wonder by going against the tide for the industry as promised by the Ketua Pengarah, Dato Dr Aziz of the JPV in his open ceremony speech. Indeed he is a really highly respectable, amicable, sincere and humble figure. All participants really gave him the high respect and regards after chatting with him. They are very fond of him. A truly rare breed.

He together with the pro whacked and whacked till the con disappeared and dared not to appear the next day........wow, well done, West Wind......two hands salute to you.......hehehe.........West Wind even tried to convince the Pengarahs and the Pegawai of JPV to invest in BH for retirement fund.......wah lau......very smart strategy......another salute to you...... Btw, DL confirms that at least two approached him showing real keen interest, he referred them to Haji Aziz......never expected can have business there too.......hehehe.....

FIRE! FIRE! FIRE! IT IS REAL FIRE NOW! FIRE AT THE BACKTYARD!!!!!!!

Well, it looks very serious and definitely detrimental to the industry esp all existing 50,000 BHs in the townships. If this were to pass through in Johor, then the chain reactions would happen to other states as our civil servants and politicians are very good in copying and when backfired, would put the blame to others. Who will suffer? I believe all of us in this forum are potential victims too. It looks like the fire is closing near our backyards. What is the point for us to discuss or share the tips as to how to improve our BHs here and later the whole BH together with our life savings are gone to the drain? We better put our focus and priority on this issue. More heads is better than one.

These proposals are drafted by people with very big hidden no good agenda. No point for us just to make protests and complaints and start crying here without giving positive solution. I suggest that let all of us scrutinise first and identify the areas that are not suitable and should be amended, adjusted or shot down. We must point out why we against certain proposal under what clause and reference, then, we would give the justifications, reasons or arguments convincingly as to why we object to it. Lastly, we would make recommendation to amend it or to throw it out.

Please be very serious, cool and sensible. No point scolding or cursing. It wouldn’t help in the situation. Try your best to do it in a very professional way as you can. We do need every bit of the grey matter from everyone now. Oh, my god, sleepless nightsssssss……….again……….

Well done, birdfarm. By the way, where are you from? Swift4ever, we know you are from Johor. Who else in this forum is from Johor? Would any of you mind physically to help the Johor Association to share out the burden? Presently, this Johor Bird’s Nest Industry Merchants Association is headed by a PHD, Dr Tan Boon Siong who is a semi retiree. Dr Tan is a very dedicated, sincere and committed committee who is tasked to make a counter proposal. He would need a lot of positive ideas and inputs. If any of you is prepared to share in, please pm me for his contact. Dr Tan lives in JB. David Lim is doing his best to help in too. Meanwhile, the rest of us can help in by continuing to find positive solutions and inputs through the discussion here as suggested. So far only a few responded positively. What happened to the rest?

Bobby C, very good analysis. Please carry on with other topics.

In order for easy referencing, all of us shall quote the paragraph numbers so not to leave out any proposal unchecked. Some of the proposals are actually irrelevant and out of jurisdiction and considered constitutionally infringing into individual owner’s basic rights. Such proposals we may recommend to be taken out or deleted. What we want is a fair, just and friendly without bias guidelines to encourage and regulate the healthy development and smooth growth of the industry similar to the planting industry while at the same time, nuisances caused to the neighbourhood can be checked and reduced to the minimum. Generally, it should be a simplified and straight forward without undue lengthy bureaucratic procedures and red tapes that could hinder and jeopardise the industry.

Analogical to the agricultural planting industry, such as the oil palm and the rubber plantations, the individual BH that started in township is similar to the small holder while the ECO-PARKs are the big estate companies. Both the BHs in township and the ECO-PARKs could co-exist side by side to contribute to the economy of the country. The small holders initiated the planting industry in the early years and later with funds pooled in, started the big estate companies. Since the ECO-PARKs come later, therefore it is quite natural for its successful rate comes slower. But, eventually, as time passes, these parks would be successful too. However, there are some evil minded and greedy with no moral park owners who couldn’t wait, wanted to fly by night and thus instigated, misled or corrupted certain decision makers abusing their authority and power to faults finding with the BHs in townships to close down the BHs so that the swiftlets had no choice but to fly to these parks. We could imagine what is going to happen politically by 13th General Election, if the state authority really does that now.

It is only a certain unscrupulous ECO-PARK owners with strong connections corrupting and enticing certain politicians in power to collude with agenda trying to make fast kill to gain short sighted personal profit at the expense of the interest of the vast majority and the future economy of the country. Such malpractices of MONOPOLY seem to have become a Malaysian political culture. But this culture could no longer withstand the wrath of the victimised citizens. The Malaysians are starting to reject this evil and dirty culture. Their strong objection and disagreement can be reflected from the 2008 political tsunami with the unexpected fall of the many states considered most corrupted into the opposition’s hand.

Actually, the Johor BH owners should consider they are very lucky. Had it not because of this tsunami, 90 % of the existing BHs in Johor could be already shut down. The balance of 10% belongs to those with strong connection with the authority. There were signs and strong speculation before the 2008 General Election that the Johor Govt would and in fact planned to do so immediately after the election. But their plan was crippled because of the tsunami. Hopefully, the ruling party in Johor learned the lesson. The drastic change in the political scenario is caused by the spontaneous awakening of the people suffered and dissatisfied with the corrupted regime and thus caused the rise up of the PEOPLE’S POWER IN UNITY. This is very positive sign for a country as the mentality and awareness of the general public is starting to mature.

Not all the ECO-PARK owners and the politicians are bad guys. Majority of the park owners are normal businessmen who still have conscience and morality. Not all the politicians in the ruling parties are greedy and corrupted. There are still many good politicians around except that they are facing dilemma whether to fight their own corrupted colleagues or jump ship.

It is time for a change. Change for the betterment for this country. The rise of the PEOPLE’S POWER has proven that UNITY IS STRENGTH. It is time that all BH owners to be really united with one voice. But, please don’t be united only with slogan. Stand up, do something positive by joining in your local associations to give physical help with action. Offer your service voluntarily. Of course, not all the existing association leaders are sincere. In that case, either change them or start a new association. It is public interest matter and not private sedirian berhad. Don’t wait for official invitation card sent to you. Go and approach the committee voluntarily to voice out positive suggestions and helps. If all of you because of been tempted by the lucrative income of this trade, could take all sort of troubles to head hunt the best consultant or ‘SIFU’ and even paid to them to help you to start your BH, no reason you couldn’t have time to offer your help which eventually protects your life saving investment? The Johor situation is rather imminent; please try to contact directly Dr Tan, the President of the association to offer your contribution. Meanwhile, do help spread this message to all BH owners you know.

Swiftsarikei,

The Bengkel was conducted by the JABATAN PERKHIDMATAN VETERINAR (JPV) as officially instructed by the PM Dept to make a full report on the industry. JPV will be playing a lead role in coordinating all the other depts involved as there are too many guidelines and red tapes from different depts claiming to govern the industry. The main reason is this govt under the PM Dept is considering our industry as a very potential foreign exchange yielder and thus intend to tap its potential by studying ways to nurture it and to help the players to maximise it to compete in the international market for its share. At the meanwhile, the govt also wants to ensure that this industry is properly regulated and flourish in the right direction with no untoward nuisances caused to the public, ecology and the environment locally.

The objective of the Bengkel was for the JPV to meet the key and experienced market players to learn the in-depth knowledge and also the numerous problems and obstacles faced by this industry. Many realistic solutions were proposed by the representatives. The Bengkel was considered the most beneficial and fruitful with a lot of positive signs to the industry.

The JPV will be submitting a very comprehensive report to the PM’s office on the 07.07.09. Generally, the report should be friendly and positive to the future of the industry.

Till the official approval and announcement by the Govt made officially with details spelt, this is still just a proposal.

Nonetheless, even if the govt approves and encourages the industry eventually, there is no immunity for this industry to cause nuisances such as noise pollution to disturb the peace of the neighbourhood or to flout the building by laws etc. Also, there shouldn’t be any reason for the BHs to be high profile like the advertisings of the entertainment industry or unless the owner is feeling itchy asking for unnecessary troubles. As a matter of fact, the situation in Sarawak is most problematic as the State Govt of Sarawak has its own agenda. It is trying not to be governed under ONE MALAYSIA’S LAW. So, the Sarawak owners are most vulnerable and should be extra careful. It is best for the Sarawak owners to be cooperative and united now with one voice and discard away any individual personal not so good agenda so that all could survive. Only with UNITY, the evil would not dare you.
