I reckon i would open up a thread just to see how many people still have their XBOX1 to this very day, probably did some mods that we could share and what not. I just bought my second Xbox just for the use of XBMC, and probably Xlink Kai although this technology is somehow old, but there are new T3CH binary builds revised recently 25-01-09, and everything else gets more interesting. The reason why is because i still want the xbox to work efficiently to prevent it from collecting dust in my shelves.

And this is definitely for educational purposes only. Please discuss about the XBOX1 abilities here, so that we can share. Moreover, i need some guide on how to install a larger HDD to the xbox.

Regards.

Im looking forward to do the upgrades by myself, although i know it is expensive to buy the tools and what not; but i need to do it myself to for educational purposes and further expose myself to the world of computers.

Do you use Xlink kai with your xboxes mate? It is indeed brilliant if you connect your xbox to the internet. Alot of things can be done smile.gif

Do you know where i can get the tools to get this project of mine started? Are those TORX 10 and TORX 20 screwdrivers which are needed to open up the xbox common in PC hardware stores?

Got 2 xbox 1 black - just serviced by bernard and another one Halo edition. Both using xbmc dashboard with retail hard drive. Only using it as a media centre(play dvd, music) and the other one is currently collecting dust.thumbup.gif

Would love to have some guide on how to upgrade the HDD on xbox.

@Cybertroop, you can use it as an ultimate XBOX MEDIA CENTRE machine for videos, musics, and et cetera depending on your own personal preference. You can also play online if you're keen on playing older games with people on xlink.

@gundam, unmodded is good. But i reckon since the xbox is discontinued, the only way to extend its lifespan is to further study the capabilities of the XBOX not only as a console, but as well as a powerful pc back then.

You can find Torx screwdrivers easily in Ace hardware. They sell them separately, or as sets. I got mine from the Summit USJ branch a long time ago.

Since xbox is a full blown x86 PC. Its possible to install linux on it as well , this would give you the true power of a computer and opens up possibility to run OpenGL games , firefox and other couple of stuff !

Okay sweet. The journey to get the HDD makes my progress very slow. When i get that, i will try to document the HDD upgrade, but its very simple once we have a hardmodded xbox, we just insert the hdd and use autoinstallers to build it.

Xbox 1 is great, i love it. I'm using Evox dash, with Xbmc as an app. loads of emulator. and only mod it to 40gb,
i just use evox with format command burn on disc to format the 40gb and ftp back the backup, i didnt use any
auto installer. i'm currently planning to get bigger hdd, coz i want to dump all my games on the hdd.
BTW anyone wanna trade Xbox games? its hard to get one these days, why not trade? icon_rolleyes.gif

Apparently Evox is one of the autoinstallers. It is called Slayer's EVOX that includes format command. But that depends, they have the standalone evox and bundled evox by Slayer. So, either way is good smile.gif

Btw, i have successfully upgraded and install a 160GB hard drive to my xbox. I will post a tutorial just for fun.
