W995 is actually SE Hikaru. smile.gif

Ya very expensive here. It was only at this place which I asked in PJ. The other places I haven't asked yet. I am still pondering whether to get the C905 or the W995.

I buy it here in Kajang Selangor an AP with 8gb only 1280!
Compare with my old and aging W810i which I used for 4 years!
It is really a masterpiece with a quite good camere and ok wifi for me.
*
How much was the Midland set that time you bought?

I read the review from GSMarena saying the volume rocker is a little too small for the ease of use. Any comment on that?

I've used smaller volume rocker comfortably. The comfort part is not due to the size but rather its position (similar to C902 near cam shutter button) which enhances photo taking but sacrifices music experience when you wanna control the volume, say, from your pocket since it's too crammed with the other buttons. Otherwise, no problemo for me smile.gif
*
I did noticed that it's place at a rather odd place too. So it's not the size but rather the position la... Those guys in GSMarena only talked about the size. Any other feedbacks? I am really confused which one to take, C905 or this one. Both are great phones.

What are the prices for ori and ap for both sets respectively?
*
Just two days I asked in Tropicana City Mall at random. AP price is a little unbelieveable RM1599 and Midland set is RM1680.

How abt the C905? The only thing I dislike about the C905 is the lack of 3.5mm port..
*
I managed to ask that too. RM1380 for Midland set and RM12xx for the AP set (kinda forgotten exactly how much is the AP set but I remember that guy told me was RM12xx) I've gotten to another place to ask, Midland set can get for RM1299 (nego) and RM1180 or something like that for AP.

i think yeah.. in LYN.. they like to do a lot of promo during big festive.. just wait..  brows.gif
*
Technically the price would drop. Christmas is coming, New Year is coming and CNY is also coming. tongue.gif But still haven't made up my mind which one to go for. I need personal feedbacks from this W995 and the C905

*
Normally price here in LYN is a little lower during the festive seasons. Watch out for the Christmas. I am sure prices are going down then.

I think GPS should be charged right? Any users here can confirm that?

i'M not sure with acronyms used by forumers here.. what is LYN? LOWYAT NET? Or just plain lowyat plaza? gotta search there la to survey he price if really got offer... how can we differentiate the AP with ori aa?
*
LYN = LowYat.Net tongue.gif
Difference between original distributed set and AP set isn't a lot other than the warranty and warranty claims. smile.gif
Check this for more information on original set and AP set. tongue.gif

QUOTE(KeithLKL @ Nov 12 2009, 05:05 PM)
i don't have much to complain about this phone, but  the volume rocker is a bit small (a bit difficult to use compare to my w810i) but I think it is not a big problem, as its sound quality is quite good, with a 8.1 camera, wifi and an attrative look.
*
The user interface is the usual SE UI right? What about the construction of the phone mainly the slider. Is it slider solid like those found in Samsung and Nokia N95, N96, 5610, N85? Care to comment on the build quality too? smile.gif

QUOTE(mode893 @ Nov 12 2009, 05:25 PM)
Charged, yes unless you use wifi which unfortunately won't follow you around where you're going. It would be free if you pre-load the map first (download at home with wifi to avoid real time data charges ie. map downloading by the GPS while on the move) but for the bundled app. (Wayfinder Navigator) you need to subscribe to be able to pre-load maps if I'm not mistaken. And make sure you disable aGPS because the assisted position lock in by your network provider will incur data charges too.  rclxub.gif
*
Thanks. I found out interesting links some of the users post up regarding the pre-loaded maps. Speaking of the maps the one you are talking about it's similar to using Google Maps except you have already downloaded it in the phone?

@Dremax...when u say.. price here in LYN.. u mean its a physical shop is it? or an internet shop? how to buy in LYN? owh..the price now hovering at 1600 eih? what's th ereason of price cut? if the demand is low, then price will reduced rite? let's say new models coming out...then got celebrations offer some more.. i think next year is the rite time to buy i guess.. one thing i wonder..will it be in the market next year? or out of stock aa?
*
The price here in the Garage Sales section.I don't know about the reason why the price lowers in here but I am guessing they want to give offers since it's the festive season. Maybe?

If you're planning on getting it next year, there will be stock. Phone models don't go out of production so quickly unless it has really bad sales records around the globe. I am also planning to get this phone next year sometime during CNY or after CNY.

You reckon phones in Singapore/China/Hongkong will be cheaper during CNY? No international warranty eh? biggrin.gif
*
International warranty there is, it's just that you have to food up a little extra. Normally International Warranty can get gotten if you get the phone from the SE center itself if I've not mistaken because I do have a friend who bought her phone from the Nokia Center and to my surprise it's a international warranty. tongue.gif

I see. Thanks for the feedback. Technically gadgets in countries like Hongkong are cheaper due to their weak currency.
*
That one I am not sure, because it also depends on the market demand.

Like in Singapore, mobile phones are rather cheap there one thing is because you are bonded with the telco. That's what I was told.

Mine is AP, not a single problem to this day, slider is very solid, no signs of fading for the writings on the phone, very, very stable, cant ask for more, dropped it so many times on smooth, hard, rough (road asphalt summore) surface and the marks are still unnoticeable. When buying just make sure you hold the phone and play around with it a bit so that you know exactly what you're getting wink.gif My 16GB M2 doesn't lag at all. What else can I say, sugar and spice everything nice. If I say anything more you'd think I'm selling the darned phone  biggrin.gif

@mls_gamer
No and yes wink.gif
*
Thanks for your feedback. But I am kinda curious, how long has your phone been with you and which AP distributed is it from? BBS?

SE fixed this problem with the latest firmware AFAIK so your friend should definitely update.

@DreMAx
It's been with me for almost 1/2 a year now, still loving it  wub.gif Dunno which AP distributor though, but I can check
*
Thanks! Actually for me I don't mind getting AP sets, it's just the warranty I am a little worried especially if the shop seems a little like you know...chapalang...

izit w995 better then aino????
aino looks like abit delay.
but how about w995??
*
Personally I think Aino is on par with W995. The only difference is the screen size, the dock and the touch interface for the media and the type of memory card the latter uses. Other than that, it's just similar. The price of the Aino and the W995 is the same when I bought the W995 smile.gif

All SE phones got the stupid fastport problem. Don't send it for repair, save your money. The solution is simple, get a clean, dry toothbrush and brush the dirty fastport pins. Voila, problem gone. Certified SE service center repair guy taught me this trick, try it and you'll see  wink.gif
*
Baru the other day my phone was 'Charging' but after 2 hours the battery was still like 10%.

Oh yes I wanna ask you guys, you see my themes right, when I view it over the net before I download them, the menu icons are different from the ones when I install the theme on the phone. As in the icons reverts back to the original menu icons. Anyone has this problem?
