Japanese grass grows short and compact you should not have lot of weeds since it is difficult for weeds to compete with a well grown compact jap grass.

The jap grass name is zoysia japonica. This type of grass can stand salt. You can mix salt with water and spray on your lawn and that will inhibit weeds grow.

When there are too many weeds you can't them pull all in a week. When you cant pull all in a week new ones germinate everyday and you cannot be pulling everyday. The better way is to trim the already short jap grass a bit shorter (but not too short weaken the grass) so as to trim away the weed's top. Weed when it grows taller than grass only then can thrive and compete against yr jap grass. By trimming you inhibit the competitiveness of the weeds. Also you are in a way trimming away the weeds heads with seeds. The un-matured seed will not germinate.
