bring more soil, create a slope for water to go to the drain, not to the corner.

ok guys, here come the real issue. My lawn of 600sqft with japanese grass has been invaded by weeds!!!!!!!!!!

I once overheard/read that we can use herbicide to kill round lead weeds and that save my work on pulling them out.

is that true?

I am here in sarawak and are trying to hire holidaying student to pull out weeds for me but damm, nowadays children dont bother to earn this kind of money (rm100)

or, anyone has any cow to borrow?

Japanese grass grows short and compact you should not have lot of weeds since it is difficult for weeds to compete with a well grown compact jap grass.

The jap grass name is zoysia japonica. This type of grass can stand salt. You can mix salt with water and spray on your lawn and that will inhibit weeds grow.

When there are too many weeds you can't them pull all in a week. When you cant pull all in a week new ones germinate everyday and you cannot be pulling everyday. The better way is to trim the already short jap grass a bit shorter (but not too short weaken the grass) so as to trim away the weed's top. Weed when it grows taller than grass only then can thrive and compete against yr jap grass. By trimming you inhibit the competitiveness of the weeds. Also you are in a way trimming away the weeds heads with seeds. The un-matured seed will not germinate.

This is how you help your jap grass win over weeds. There is no easy way by just herbicide killing all type of weeds not grass. Hope this help.

thanks!!!!!!!!!! nvr fail to surprise me with the answer.

You are right that the weed can be pull out but need too much time and the weeds tend to hide inside/below zyosia which has make it even more difficult if u want to pull the root out. and some of them has a very deep root which is impossible to eradicate them.

my zoysia is not too healthy as it is not as compact + soft as what i seen in other ppl's lawn. it tends to be spreading wide, short and hard(spiky)

What i was doing using my "assumption" is to:
1. fertilize the plant together with the weeds one go using Epsom salt + organic coffee fertilizer so zyosia get more healthy and weed get longer to pop their "head/ seedling" out from zyosia carpet
2. trim it with my mower so i dont see the weeds for the next one month.

seems like im doing it right.....thanks!

bad news, only way is to remove them by hand and has to do it quickly or else it will outgrown and you will lost control over it.

Mine lost controlled after a year pulling out grass whenever i have time..Recently we are away for a long vacation and came back no eye see!...just live with it and imagine their are all the same. all green smile.gif
