Initially I thought of getting Japanese grasses, but realized that I wasn't going to spend time tending the grass patch, thus I bought 50 sqft of fake grass and just rolled it over my garden patch.
Yes, those with green hands might shovel me with their fork pitch, but unfortunately I fall into the category of non-green hands.

I gotten it from Sg Buloh, I believe that there are 2 prices, the RM9/sqft and RM12/sqft. I gotten the RM12/sqft since my lawn isn't that big (and it looks nicer), and bought a few bags of fine sand as well. I gotten it from Lot 45 - Konzept Garden, no discounts unfortunately...
Before spreading the fake grass, i used the sand to level the ground and made a slight gradient to that piece of land. I have also arrange some bricks inside the sand, to prevent soil erosion in case of heavy rain. Once the sand is in place and have dried sufficiently, the roll of grass is spread over the top, and extras at the edge is trimmed off. Half a day job, quite simple actually.

You can't stitch it unfortunately. You can only place the pieces really close to each other, and nail them to the ground to prevent them from coming off. There will be some slight gap.
I m a bit more fortunate, as my lawn is only 5ft x 10ft, thus the width of the existing roll can cover them without having to "stitch" them together.
