Hi, my house is a 20x70 corner unit with a land, about 20' x 70' as well, I want to change the normal grass to cow grass because the normal grass grow very fast, I cut last week then 1 week it becomes long again.

Anyone got recommended contractor who can do this? Basically need to remove the existing grass and plant new cow grass.

Please recommend. Thanks!

I'm thinking to try this myself too.. :)

Between, now the garden full with long grass and the land is not flat..got bit holes some small some big.. do you think I can use cangkul to make them flat?

For the grass..I need to remove all the roots 1 by 1 before planting new grass right?

You can use weed killer or call lalang killer chemical from nursery. Add it with water and spray at your garden. Between 2week, all the grass or whatever will die. Than you can start plant your grass.

Ooo..sounds better..I thought I need to remove them by hand manually in 1 day so that the grass wont grow in another day..

After spraying weed killer..wait for 2 weeks.. then do I need to lay new soil? Or I can directly plant the new grass on it?

No need new soil. But if you plant those taiwan grass or similiar, you need fine sand.

planting grass is really not easy. let alone a corner lot. you'll still need to till the land and add the seed at the correct depth. the rest, u will depend on nature. in the end, i just the grass and put on top of existing ones. i didn't say i'm perfectionist by the way :)
*
erm..I'll remove the existing grass with weed killer..then remove them after 2 weeks..then I'm going to buy ready grass and lay on it rather than seed...so I assume it doesn't need any skill for this except strength?

Correct me if I'm wrong please...I'm new to this too.. lol... :P

Yeap I know Sg.Buloh got a lot of nursery but quite far from my place..but no choice..find 1 day to go there and buy.. so the weed killer only can get from nursery too? Any shop or place can get?

My way is

1) Kill the grass with weed killer
2) wait 2week.
3) take out the dead grass and make the soil loose by cangkul.
4) Buy the ready grass. Chop it to 4-6pcs equally. Depend your budget.
5) plant it equal space on the graden.
6) Put the fine sand on the grass and soil. Let the grass grow.
7) Everymonth spray with water mix with grass fertilizer.
8) Donn't forget to pickup those wild grass everymonth or when you see it.

After 6-8moth, you will see your garden green like golf coarse. :)

This weed killer is poison and control item. Not all shop can sell. People use it to suidcide.

Just take 1 weekend morning and go to sg.buloh nursery. It is a nice place to walk around and see so many plant and green. It soot your eye.

lol.. meaning that I may need to go Sg.Buloh for 2 times..1st to get the weed killer..after 2 weeks..then go buy grass..
haha but not a problem..will definitely go to do it myself..save some hard earn money.. :D

nursery price roughly around rm4 per square feet for pearl grass.. last time i check few years back

after clearing the existing weeds/grass, just roll the grass over if cost allowed.

oh.. make sure the weeds dont grow over ur grass, else it will be taken over by it

Thanks for your suggestion friend.. between.. is it meaning that I need to make sure to remove every single weeds until clean? I have to remove all the roots right?

Thank God I only have a small area. Barely 5 feet by 50 feet. :) I hired a gardener one morning to dig up all the old grass, but they just use a cangkul and hacked off the top layer of soil together with the wild grass. I didn't use any weed killer.

I got my contractor to bring over a truck load of sand to level the place, then I bought 10 pieces (1 feet x 2 feet) of "Japan" grass (finer than Philippine grass) from Sg Buloh.

The gardener teared off pieces and planted the grass in the sand spread out.

It's been 3 weeks now. Got wild grass grow here and there, and I dig them out together with the roots as I see them. I think "mostly", the wild grass was killed, but some are coming out and the roots go real deep.

The new grass seems to be growing well. I guess it will take half a year at least to cover the whole garden evenly. Need to go look for this grass fertiliser.

I don't mind this weeding. It's quite relaxing. :) Can spend 15 minutes every day, and pull out maybe 7-8 weeds? Also, get to enjoy my little garden patch also. haha.

I don't think I can cope with 20x70 sized garden.

Haha sounds relaxing to do these ownself..I'm going to do it myself too.. Between..we don't have to really buy the full piece of 20x70 area of grass to cover whole piece of garden right? Perhaps buy 50% of it, then lay it on the garden and let it grow itself, perhaps take maybe half a year to get the whole garden goes green...am i right?

Do you think there's someone who can just supply sand to you? I'm looking for one.. I'll need to ask my contractor about this..

kamion, how much is the Japan grass? says per piece?
