seng kiat, here is what I learn about shooting at slow shutter speed
when you press the shutter release, you are pressing down making the camera shake. Even with SSS, the camera still shake and would not be able to compensate so much. When you release the shutter, the camera also shake. How nice if you can be in between the start of pressing and the end of releasing Yes.... use continuous shot (also known as burst). Set your camera to continuous shot and shoot around 7-9 shots. One of it may come out sharp as while your hand is still pressing, the camera is in steady mode. Oh, if can, try to HOLD YOUR BREATH |

here is another way to steady your camera
before you pull your shutter release using your right hand, pull the strap down on the left side using your left hand. Hold the camera on your right by pushing it up, so that you counter your left. So left down, right up... balance Then set to 2 secs timer and wait... need to practice to make it perfect |

QUOTE(kinkikids @ Mar 2 2009, 12:24 AM) when taking these kind of photos, best to think that... you can perform photomerge later, so try to use the same settings (press the AEL to lock the exposure for the next shot)this is the best I can do in few minutes based on different exposure on the 2 photos ![]() photos looks distorted because I'm trying not to cut too much on top could be better if I have more top space |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Mar 4 2009, 12:10 PM) what is AEL for? how to know AEL is lock or not? I press on AEL button, * appears for less than 2 seconds. Any tips on this? .. you don't just press AEL button, you press and HOLD AEL buttonhowever, you can set not to HOLD by changing in the camera - MENU, AEL button [AEL Hold, AEL toggle] usually we set to AEL Hold because we tend to forget to un-hold it if it is at toggle... well, I do This post has been edited by chiggy: Mar 4 2009, 12:13 PM |

QUOTE(services189 @ Mar 4 2009, 03:44 PM) good question bro, i need to top up around RM200 for the sigma. if you ask me, i say keep the 75-300... but that will seriously depends what you shoothow's that sound? is it a good deal? or should i wait for lens to be sold and get a new one? there is only one question - do you need 300mm? 300mm can let you shoot moon - soft? you are using F8 to F11, so nothing to worry about softness 300mm can let you "skodeng" 200mm to 300mm may seems small, but if there is a need and you don't have it... well, then you need to crop your 200mm to get a size of 300mm but of course la, that is my personal opinion (that is why i still have my minolta 75-300mm) |

QUOTE(services189 @ Mar 4 2009, 04:00 PM) at first i was eager with the skodeng, peeping and all. but when i start to take picture i realize that the extra 100mm on lens range is quite under utilize (for me la of coz). so i prefer if there's a lens range around 17-150mm(is there any lens like this?), that would be ideal for me. but 28-200mm is also around that range(correct me if i'm wrong), so i think i might try it for it. and there is another path.... much much older lens... up to 40 to 50 years old manual lens and yeah, the 17-150mm range is also to avoid changing lens constantly. For kit lens case, i think i'll use it for now. not until my fund is sufficient enough for a better lens. i'll save it for the extra wideness maybe. LOL Thanks for all the advice guys! |
