I came across this LCD in HSL Circuit City and it looks cool. But the strange is that the "Pixel Plus 2 HD" engine produce a trail of "water effect" for moving objects. I search the internet and it seems like Philips Pixel Plus 2 HD is famous for that effect which many say was a serious flaw. However, What Hifi say the LCD pictures looks great with the Pixel Plus 2 HD and all other effects turn off.
Anyone here using the 47" Philips? mind to share your opinions?

QUOTE(gundamalpha @ Feb 12 2009, 03:50 PM) I don't get your "water effect", care to elaborate? say if something like a person is moving on the screen, the those movement would create a trail that look like water. Its very obvious. Added on February 12, 2009, 3:57 pmQUOTE(msn83235502 @ Feb 12 2009, 03:52 PM) Its not ghosting. Its blurring that looks like water. very strange looking.... Getting Started

|
What about the setting... My encounter with my Sony was when set the NR (Noise Reduction) or Mpeg NR to high level..then the water or shadow reflect is very obvious.. if not use the NR then no water or shadow effect

Here is a review summary from cnet.asia
Review summary: Its 28.9-billion color palette is a strong pro, thought the new HD Natural Motion engine fails to live up to our expectations.
Pros: Sharp and punchy DVD and HD visuals; revealing shadow details; good standard-definition upscaling; plenty mid-bass presence; streamline LCD bezel; triple 1080p24-ready HDMI; affordable.
Cons: Motion blurring and artifacts with HD Natural Motion, less than ideal PC support; buggy pixel-to-pixel aspect ratio setting; single component-video.
Verdict: We like the Philips 47PFL5403's wide viewing angle, rich colors and shadow detail, but not its questionable motion-enhancing HD Natural Motion engine.

I think you mean ghosting effect, which has to do with response time. To be honest I don't know much about the panel you are talking about, but turning off/scaling down other effects does help a bit generally. Just like game mode found on other panels, it's not adding anything to it actually but scale down other options like color/contrast/brightness to make the ghosting effect less noticeable.

I use a 32" Philips LCD myself.
Basically for gaming you can turn off the HD Natural Motion, Pixel Plus (or Pixel Perfect) etc since you don't need to use any of that for gaming. The above features are just enhancements for regular watching as well as DVD playback.
The Pixel Plus 2 on the CRT set however, is amazing. Even downloaded avis look like HD rips.

Heheheh normal AVIs loh. The 29" CRT with Pixel Plus 2 has been discontinued, but it was quite a buy - RGB HD, 3 components (1 Progressive + 2 reglar), Side S-Video inputs.
Playing a typical 700mb AVI file (divx/xvid) with Pixel Plus 2 on really makes people ask me "is this a HD TV?"

Just play anything and as long as there is any moving things on the screen, there will be a "motion artifact"(cnet call it - Motion blurring and artifacts with HD Natural Motion). Added on February 12, 2009, 4:18 pmBtw, i haven't bought this LCD yet. Just saw it the other day at HSL. Here is a reviews from WHAT HIFI.... reviewsIf the features can be turn off and the HD picture is great with great viewing angles, then this might be a great bargain FULL HD LCD. I read about someone here in the PS3 forum using this LCD so I hope he could share his opinions before I buy it. This post has been edited by lightning69: Feb 12 2009, 04:18 PM
