cycled for a few months still no difference in stamina or weight
btw i'm using a cheap lerun and it tries to kill me everytime i go to kiara. that and my lack of skills. anyways, for commuting it is decent but a little on the heavy side. |

QUOTE(jesse @ Apr 16 2009, 12:44 AM) oh dear... bmi already 21 after a few months still no diff in stamina/weight?? any tips from anyone on how best to increase stamina / lower weight? is there a specific tactic / technique / skill when cycling? after buying a bike, i actually plan to cycle from puchong to klang (one way is abt 30km...so, to and fro would be 60km) every sunday morning... is once a week good enuff? i mean for that distance... is that a good distance? too short? too long? bear in mind i'm overweight n i haven't been in any form of exercise for the past....er...5 years? 30km one way...how long do you guys take to cover that distance...just to let me have an idea of how fast i should be cycling.... and if from no-exercise-at-all to 30km stretch, is that ok? too low? or too much? will i die? have anyone tried cycling on federal highway? or kesas highway? got motorcycle lane rite? do other motorcyclist zoom pass you and blow u off the path? Added on April 16, 2009, 12:46 ambrand wise, is le run better or nexus better? (of the 2 models i mentioned earlier) i'm kinda leaning more towards nexus...dunno why though...a gut feeling i guess... if wanna increase stamina/strength/get full body workout go trail cycling at bukit kiara. Added on April 16, 2009, 12:53 amoh yeah, keeping the pedalling at around 60rpm and getting a rhythm (i think its called cadence cycling, not sure, might be wrong lol) would be a balance between leg strength and heart workout This post has been edited by radmaszeal: Apr 16 2009, 12:53 AM |

QUOTE(jesse @ Apr 16 2009, 01:03 AM) 60rpm.... lol. rpm is how fast ur legs push the pedals and crank. cateyes and cyclometers measure front wheel rpm, which when calculated with the radius of the wheel can obtain the speed. pedalling speed try count manually la. lol. or pedal as fast as u can without running out of breath, but not in a gear that is too high that each crank would burn the thighs. variate the gearing while keeping the pedalling speed constanti checked out velo 8 and 5 (which i saw in the shop) in cateye's website... it doesn't say they measure rpm.... so how do i measure rpm? or should i be getting a different meter that does measure rpm? |

QUOTE(latias93 @ Apr 18 2009, 01:19 PM) Man.. if you joined the Selangor Mountain Bike Challenge '09, 75% of the 25KM distance is UPHILL (including some of FRIM's famous ups such as Steroids). ah. i'm still a newbie. more pro at pushing than riding. lol. and my bike isnt exactly the lightest, just now pushed 75% of the way up steroid hill. but the singletracks are less technical than kiara. tomorrow going to kiara? |

QUOTE(dickybird @ Apr 22 2009, 01:08 PM) techno: we all met at the chinese temple in front of frim, which is so much easier to find than the sg buloh hospital parking lot. then we went to steroid and sg buloh. but this week i am leaning towards kiara since i only have sunday off. labour day weekend maybe i will do both coz i got both days off. addicted to technical trails already? been cycling to and from campus this week. trying to build up whatever stamina i ever had. lol. ask maxguy to make attendance list for this sunday. pity him last week solo ride |
