It ain't happenning. We can't even afford a decent player now for heaven sake. wink.gif

QUOTE(aiyish @ Feb 18 2009, 01:13 AM)
He will say yes..

"I supported Barca since i was a kid, it would be a dream for me to play there,"

"I would like to say thanks to rafa and gerrard for their support all this while, now im moving on to a bigger club with bigger players and playing in front of the best fans in the world. Nothing can compare to Nou Camp."
*
It ain't happenning either. Cos Torres will never contemplate playing for other side in Spain for his love for Athletico too deep smile.gif

QUOTE(GulaV @ Feb 18 2009, 12:10 PM)
Not suit? Then how about their partnership in Spain for say, 2-3 years? And it's successful too..
*
QUOTE(daidzz @ Feb 18 2009, 12:22 PM)
they both are fantastic strike partners - no doubt
*
Their partnership has not exactly setting the world alight. Successful? Maybe it's cos the team is successful that u said their partnership's a success. All in I would say their partnership as Spain twin strikers is not exactly lethal, bearing in mind their talent as individual.

QUOTE(daidzz @ Feb 18 2009, 12:57 PM)
i hate the lone striker role, there is nobody to play off, and is very difficult to follow up with shots because the midfielders wont be near enough to.
prefer two strikers up top - i think its more effective.
*
Every formation have their own merit. In 4-5-1, maybe the there's more midfielder to support him instead of no partner to help him. tongue.gif

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Feb 20 2009, 10:10 AM)
Is not like I want rafa to go but if he really does, I agree that Lee shouldnt take up the job.He is good as number 2 but he just couldnt manage the club as gaffer.Anyway, bringing in new manager might take 1-2 years before the team is stable and mount a serious title challenge...Not worth trying, better stick with rafa.
*
Somehow, maybe he's not meant to be no 1. These days it's difficult to find a no2 who do as well as no 1.

QUOTE(CrossFirE @ Feb 20 2009, 10:12 AM)
i think MA and jose is the best for us if rafa to leave. i don mind if jose come over.
*
As much as i hate it, JM seems a much wiser options

QUOTE(Everdying @ Feb 20 2009, 12:13 PM)
manc were lucky to win.
the copenhagen keeper made an embarassing blunder, that would make david james proud, to concede their first goal.
and someone has to really convince dalglish to come out of retirement.
perhaps offer him a spot as consultant to sammy lee if rafa goes.

How i wish King Kenny would be back but its all wishful thinking

Have the same thought about Aurelio, never expects to see him put in strong challenges. He knows how to defend afterall laugh.gif

On another note, generally, there's a saying that in European matches, the pace seems slower than BPL & players have more time on the ball but in this morning match, the pace in the first half was in breakneck speed. This surprises me as well as the team performance as I'm expecting some kind of defensive football ala GH era. To my surprise we did held ourselves well in the match with decent one touch passes and off the ball positioning. Not to mentioned the chances we had is more than I hoped for tongue.gif

I don't really subscribe to the view that we parked the bus on goal. It's more like we play more defensively as trading blows with Real in Bernabeu is like committing suicide, not to mentioned without our talismanic captain. As man for man, we do not have the quality nor the strength in depth of Real. Hence a more conservative strategy is needed. Away from home to one of the best teams in Europe without our best player & they expect us to play attacking football like home team doh.gif

I'm especially impressed by Yossi running, seems like he's getting back his form from his WH days as we can see he's dribbling a lot more while bringing teammates into play. The same can't be said of Babel. Seeing his first touch makes me wonder how come he can be a pro doh.gif

On side note, a bit concern seeing Riera going off boil after a great start in Reds career. He seems lethargic though & some of his decisions making kinda baffling. sweat.gif

Not so surprising on Aurelio la.Like usual, he played well in big matches.Anyway, I'm surprised that Babel actually made 5 passes. He knows how to pass after all.  laugh.gif

As for Riera, he might be out together with Torres.Torres twisted his ankle while Riera get a knock by Gago.  doh.gif
*
Riera is out for second leg due to suspension. Cos yesterday in starting list saw a yellow beside his name.

real fans are "membebel a lot" about our ugly games..huhuhuhu..

very funny...they really "kutuk2" our teams..

but..mayb there right..we do not play beatiful football..but that is benitez tactic..not the teams fault..

aiiyaaa!

Back in their last lost against Barca, I don't see them going heads on to Barca. Didn't see any 'beautiful' football back then. Wait maybe their beautiful football is inferior to Barca. laugh.gif

QUOTE(nando @ Feb 27 2009, 09:50 AM)
Rafa has brought in a lot of joy to the club.  Sadly, he will always be pressurized by the media and fans due to his occasionally strange tactics/policy/misses in the transfer marker.  That is why many of us see him as the enigma.  On one had, he can be a genius and tactically astounding, giving us the confidence to claim the scalps of Euro giants.
I am now wondering if there is any manager in the EPL that has led their team to beat Milan, Inter, Barca, Chelsea, Madrid in the CL.  Amazing record

On the other hand, his selection and tactics and the eventually results against the Stokes, Man city can make any fan wanting his head.

I still dont understand Rafa fully and the things he does. Perhaps its because he is always seen as a brilliant manager,  a focused tactician that we constantly expect so much from him.

Whether Rafa is the right man for Liverpool, i am always driven by the question if not him, then who?? I certainly wont feel comfortable with Jurgen, Rikjaard or even O'Neil for now.  But if Jose is available, why not?  brows.gif  brows.gif
*
I agree with you. As you mention, I think that JM has the characteristic to succeed him, rather than Klinsi, Rijkaard, O'neill or even Lippi. But still think that RB is a strategist/tactician while JM tends to be more of a motivator. Too bad JM pissed loads of us with his big mouth laugh.gif . But then again maybe that's what made him tick. hmm.gif
The ideal scenario will be combining both of them into one, but that's not possible is it? tongue.gif

Yup, Alonso is back to his best, his shot on the stroke of halftime is so accurate, nevermind its slow & saved by Casillas. Bet most of us can't even hit the target like that (just under the bar) from halfway line even in empty field nevermind competitive match.
On another note, Benayoun just ooze class in trickery & dribbling, just like in West Ham days when he skinned our defence. Looks like he's recapturing his form now, but somehow he seems lightweight, easily bundle off the ball sweat.gif

I'm not too sure about him.Based on the game against us, he was piss poor.Plus, I believe someone has mentioned once, EPL games are full of pace. Thus, I believe heinze will be poor when he comes to play against the likes of Ronaldo, Young, Nasri sort of players that have not only pace but skills to dribble. Then again, with his price tag of 8m pound and in his late 20, I believe I would prefer Dossena. wink.gif Younger, cheaper and faster.

*
Dossena ard 27 if I'm not mistaken so not exactly young in these times. While rumors had it at 7 mil quid so the price is almost the same while maybe Doss is faster but Heinze is BPL proven though may have some loss of form. While not many Italians prosper outside Serie A, by that i mean in general.

Seriously, I m starting to worry. If torres come back from injury, who are we dropping to make a place for benny? he is on fire now...Kuyt, Torres and Gerrard are undroppable. Alonso? Masch? Riera?

Anyway, hope we can score few in the 1st half and let some of the senior players have some rest in second half with the likes of Insua, Ngog and El Zhar coming in.  biggrin.gif

When have we done tt? laugh.gif

Notice Ngog played with more confidence after scoring the goal.
Masch was like all over the pitch this morning, seen him end up in leftback in one of the sunderland attack blink.gif

For me, it is a major improvement for babel and I will give credits to him because he is directly involved in the 2 goals. Ramos totally had been outclass by him. Kudos to liv..
And I would say that we a full of surprises and unpredictable.... notworthy.gif
*
Not to mention inconsistent. wink.gif

QUOTE(nando @ Mar 11 2009, 11:03 AM)
yes, it has occurred to me. But this is not a post-Boro match syndrome. It has been a long term bug infecting us.  Brilliant in European nights, superb against continental giants but struggled against mid-level EPL teams. I wont discount the possibility that sometimes, its the boys who didnt turn up, not Rafa. But neither still, the transition to become a consistent and menacing team in EPL has yet to happened and a lot of it still lies on Rafa's shoulders.

and oh...my grudge is not against Van Der Arrt........

it is against that so called Real legend who 2-3 seasons commented that our football is similar to a piece of dung in a stick or something like that...where is he now?
*
I remember that, whats his name again? An Argentine if not mistaken.

QUOTE(livingmonolith @ Mar 11 2009, 01:30 PM)

solid game for the back four, although towards the end arbeloa's flank looked to be consistently exposed. masch was so dominating that i didn't realize alonso was playing until he got subbed. kuyt was again working his socks off and his persistence resulted in the first goal. babel must've played the best game in his liverpool career two direct contributions to goals, and terrorizing the flank. it's refreshing to watch him getting to the byline and whipping in crosses instead of cutting in and shoot. gerrard and torres are just bedazzling. i swore cannavaro must've shat in his shorts seeing how torres left him hanging in the middle of nowhere with that deft flick 3 minutes into the game. wink.gif

and spearing could've got some significant contribution too, look at the way the small midfielder harassing the real defence and those killer passes, he must've watched too many stevie g videos. smile.gif

i missed this .....seems its an incredible piece of skills in this.
