Hi all. I'm looking for users to test out my proxy server and comment about it. I have already setup 2 servers(going to be around 8-10 servers in total) at different IDC for this purpose and any people who knows how to use freecap can email me to get an account to use it. I'm giving out about 2-10 months free for this. The more feedback, comment or suggestion you give me to improve the service the longer I will give you this service for free.

I have tested the ping to US WOW server and its around 150ms-390ms for all the realms. WOW taiwan server is around 200ms-400ms latency. Some of my friends say its really fast when they tested it on wow taiwan but not other games such as "JY online". So i need public opinion on this.

I'm planning to roll out P2P, File Download, Web proxying, File Hosting, Bittorrent services on all the servers that I'm going to host, so please invite your friends who are interested to join this beta testing. Below are some of my testing results.

P2P(emule, shareeza) - approx. 2kB-140kB/s
File Downloading (IE, Mozilla) Normal Download - approx 70kB-150kB/s
Web proxying - Fast connection to China, Taiwan, HK, Youtube(No Lag)
Bittorrent (Azureus) - Usually max if alot of seeders +130kB/s

This results is only achievable if your Internet line doesnt have problem, such as lots of packet loss(ping request time out), very high latency +200ms on local malaysia routing, frequent change of IP (I dont know why lately Streamyx on 5PM onwards keep on forcing my modem to change IP and disconnect for 30 seconds hmm.gif ).

I can reached at hongengkeong@hotmail.com

Or just post reply on this topic with your email, I will send you the account.

Are you sure u guys all want to try it? The OP just created his userID yesterday. Next thing u know, might get scam. Be very very careful.

To the OP, I think you will need to be more transparent about this. With Gamepath, the owners came from a WoW guild and they have been transparent about this. The big question is : who are you and are you out to do some scamming for fast bucks or is it genuine?
*
Yes, I understand you guys might have doubt about it. But I'm not asking for any monetary return, so I think the most I can do is spam your email smile.gif . But there is already a few users who got the servers IP and port from me. Haven't got any reply from them though. Hope that all that got the proxy account from me will reply to this forum. Anyway I have compiled some of the ping and test results and uploaded it here together.

Regards.

For those whom still havent got any account from me please email me. I'm sorry about it because its getting confused for me to PM and email at the same time.

To all that got to test the proxy, can you all please POST your results or comment. I do see alot of traffic especially p2p but nobody laid any comment to me yet except for 1 member. Please post your test results, eg. speed, latency or anything that is related. And let me know on what areas that I should improve.

My server bandwidth available. It seems that you guys are starting to drain approximately 40% of my 100Mbit bandwidth shocking.gif

Those who post a feedback to me here will be given an account to be beta tester later for helping me on this project. I will make this account valid for free at least 2 month - 10 month. As you testers know that I have not created any authentication for this server yet.

To users whom have problem this evening connecting to my proxy or interruption. I'm sorry because I was upgrading the servers system.

Hi,

Here's some observation of the initial test around 6pm today.

Ping to the system gives me around 22-25MS on average with intermittent spike to around 500-550MS. However there's no packet lost connecting to the system (from 115.134.x.x bad IP range), which is a good start.

In WoW, the latency is about 510-530MS range, which by my standard is not pretty at all. I use a paid proxy service and I can get 200-300MS (and never slower than 300MS unless TMidiot mess things up). However, since this is new and that you have this proxy open for P2P connection I wont be surprised.

Keep it going thanks.
*
Thanks Shawnk. I will have another 2 server UP at different Datacentre most probably by next month. I will give you the other server for testing too.

Hi all. Yesterday I did some upgrade to the server and the server seems unstable over that. So some of you might have problem connecting or slower performance. Hope you all understand this is a beta server so some of the software might be buggy a little. Thanks to all whom posted their test results and I will remember that.

Next Update: Might be changing the servers Web proxy to another port and Socks5 to different port so that things will stabilize down. Updating the server OS to the latest version of Debian previous was running on version 3 tongue.gif.

connection to youtube is quite good, sometimes it do get stucked...
ping to malaysia is higher
as promise, connection to china is fast..was reading comics on proxy

ping to the system varies a lot, approx 100ms-700ms(once i saw 1200)
i'm on a 10-man lan of 2Mbps line
*
The ping fluctuated yesterday because I was doing some upgrade work on the server. Drained a lot of bandwith tongue.gif around 30-50Mbits Sorry if it gives you bad experience. drool.gif

the gamepath server for my/sg absolutely better. I test both with WG battle. but this server also can absorb wg but with less performance compare to the gamepath my/sg server.
*
Thanks for the info Perunding. I will open another server later and dedicate this just for WOW so that it can perform better. Same thing when this server open. I will give you a free account for beta test around 2-10 month.

BTW, if you tested it yesterday I'm sorry to say that there is some upgrading going on so as I said earlier performance isnt as good as it supposed to be.

Where are your proxy servers located may I ask?
*
I have servers located at Netmyne, Jaring, AIMS, NTT currently and Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Europe, and US(New York) later. Netmyne servers are not performing well for international connections so I didnt release it for testing.

Added on February 10, 2009, 12:21 pmTo all users,

Please use port xxxx same server IP. This is a socks5 proxy only, just for gaming. Will be more stable on this I think. Username: testuser Password: testuser <----- Update: this whole thing is broken..... dont use it.

last nite, i tried to ping the proxy via freecap, at 1st i got 2000+ ms, then tried 2nd time got 17ms... dunno why...

and also when i add WoW.exe application, and tried to run it, it just runs a few lines of codes, and stops there... WoW doesn't staart =(

Is it because i'm using Vista?
*
Its most probably because of vista hmm.gif I have another users which report the same thing. Let me think of a workaround.

BTW Servers is UP already.

Okies. So far I am quite happy with the surfing speed but how do I setup this proxy for gaming purposes? Do I need to use Putty and Freecap?
*
Hi. Just use freecap to connect to my server. You wont need putty for this purpose.

Yesterday TMnet went 'cooocooo' again. Couldnt even open yahoo website for hours and my server wasnt accessible from streamyx line.

Anyway I will come out with a backup server later which all beta test account can still access my proxy even there is peering problem.

For the Vista and 64 bits problem than freecap cant 100% support, I use a trial apps called Proxycap (30 days trial). It support Vista and 64 bits as well.

I configured and tested the server....average less than 400ms...had 1 time spike to 700+ms...not sure what happen..might be stimyx line act up or something..

Will keep U update..
*
Thanks for info. I tried myself too on vista last night. Sort of there is a little problem connecting to my server/does not socsify the program. Cant be sure why though. I downloaded another program "Proxifier" and it works perfectly. Freecap does have limitation on this though sad.gif
hope that they will release a patch to make vista work.

Hi, please delete of the port 2000 entry. That is for Web surfing not for WOW, you will only need port 1999 entry to login to WOW.

Comprehensive reports/feedbacks regarding usage of the proxy server on my first day getting it. On to the tests...

Test Setup:

Computer setting: F8sv notebook series by Asus
Operating System: Window Vista 32bit
Type of Broadband: TMNet Streamyx 1mbps - Streamyx has being shitty on me lately since I were unable to get my "best IP" for WoW. Everything is 115.xxx.xxx.xxx nowadays and this 115 IP was the worst IP (for WoW purposes at least) and now the only one. I'm open to suggestion for what kind of tests I should do next.
Speedtest.net Test (without the proxy obviously)

Socks5 Proxy server:

Used on World of Warcraft created by Activision Blizzard (patch 3.0.9) by using SocksCap software made by Permeo Technologies, Inc (version 2.40). All the tests are done on an Oceanic server though the physical location of the server is somewhere in California US.

Initial Impression/Comments for Online Gaming:
This proxy server seems to work well so far. I need to do more raid environment stress tests. But my guild only raids on Wednesday/Thursday since we finish up all the current raiding content early. I'll try do more tests in raid next week.

Initial Impression/Comments for HTTP Proxy Server and Web Surfing:
Hmm, it was working just fine initially (around 8pm to 10pm Friday) but some errors was occuring at 1:45a.m Saturday (+8 GMT/Malaysian Time) saying "502 Bad Gateway" which can be rectify by spamming refresh button. This 502 problem occurs when I was surfing my Guild website and to a lesser extent LYN forum itself. Tests on online video streaming will be done soon! -need to get a digital stopwatch icon_idea.gif oh and probably tests on direct HTTP downloads.

Initial Impression/Comments for BitTorrent and/or P2P download:
I only have tested downloading J-Drama which are not latest by any means thus have low seeder/leecher count which results in almost the same with or without the proxy server (I use Socks5). BitTorrent tests is a lower priority to me since I'm more towards Online Gaming (WoW forum...duh tongue.gif)

p/s: Is uploading screenshots of the latency is allowed in LYN forum? I got screenshots to prove all the tests above and if it is needed I can mail them/post them here. And should I do a comparison of GamePath and this alternative proxy server? Took me awhile to do this stuff...time to sleep, so I'll reply back tomorrow if anyone has any inquiries.
*
Hi, can you use "Proxifier" instead of freecap or sockscap for windows vista. As I tested vista using those 2 socks client but it doenst actually proxify your connection. Proxifier is working fine on this.

using launcher Run was fine, but i donno my ms was goign good or bad,
non proxy = 700-800ms

proxy   = 500ms
btw i stay in pg, using 60.48.xx.xx ip ~
still want to double check yet. thanks
*
Hi, I understand you are using vista OS. Please try to use "Proxifier" instead of freecap or sockscap.

*
Are you using Vista. If yes. Please use "Proxifier" version 2.7. Less problem.

TS...any solution on this?

Sorry.... seems like the server overloaded CPU 20-70% usage at off peak hours. Cant imagine on peak hours sad.gif (its an old server)....... . Give me some time, I will get another server up just for gaming(need to upgrade it from debian 3.0 > 4.0..... vmad.gif ) Might have to use user account.... so i can throttle the speed of each users. And reduce the load of the server.

Hi all. Got another announcement. I'm getting another 2 server UP by end of this month. This 2 server will most probably match other paid game proxy service such as "gamepath". And yes this 2 server will be dedicated for gaming only. Browsing, p2p or bittorent will not be provided yet.

I will have rerouting facilities implemented too, so that users that have bad connection to these server can connect to another server and have the traffic rerouted through a leased line. Just to smooth things out.

The terms and condition is as follow.

1.Please register your interest first with me first so I can setup an account username for you.
2.This service will be provided free to all users who register with me either through my email or a website that I will setup later. "Free for a certain period, not for life" smile.gif
3.Those who help me out to test the first proxy server and posted comment will be awarded longer free account as promised earlier.

My email: hongengkeong@hotmail.com

Lastly, anyone who has interest in this area and are well verse in Web Designing, Database programming, or Proxy application and will like to help out on this project can email me too.

test using streamyx 1.5mbps,
downloads from international site are if not always full speed,
also adding that downloads from torrent is also great, almost full speed too
but getting alot of errors from proxifier
[18:49] Error : the proxy server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2000 cannot establish connection with xx.xxx.xxx.xx:50082
[18:49] uTorrent.exe - Could not connect to xx.xxx.xxx.xx:50082 through proxy chain.

normal?
*
Yes, sorry to say its normal since alot of users bombard the server with p2p and torrent. The server is too busy some time to serve new connections. So it just expire the connection or web users will see "Bad gateway" message in their browser.

To those who experience difficulties connecting to the server. I have checked, the server is not having any problem. Streamyx user might some time unable to login because there is peering problem with their network. My server is located at another provider. And some time, you might have problem connecting to the server as its just too busy to serve new connection to it. Sorry for this coz its a very OLD server used by me just for testing purpose. Will get new server up later to improve performance.

*CPU utilization is at 40%-100% most of the time. RAM 90+% of 1GB. Overloading I will say.. Wait till I get my 8 core Xeon 16GB FBB RAM server ready and you guys are in for some JUICE smile.gif
