Dont mean to be rude but, you should take some time and read through from the first page of this thread. Loads of good information available and ready for easy reading.

what do you mean exactly? you take up a/c maintenance eng. course and graduated and wondering the paths available for you? or you are asking on how to be an a/c maintenance engineer? or LAME in short.

either way, check first page. lol everything's there. Read up on it and when you have doubts, post it up. smile.gif

the post that you are looking for varies accordingly to the airlines or services.

I believe you are doing LWTR course am I right? basically, you are a fresh grad with no or less experience.

For airlines like MAS, AA and also AAX, the post that you would likely get is as a Junior Tech. This is where everybody that has education also qualification starts to gain their way up to that aircraft engineers.

Be reminded that, MAS intake for Junior Tech has just passed weeks ago. MAS rarely do intakes for JT. Nowadays, MAS rely on vendors to supply the workforce be it, from no-skill to full-skilled workers.

Term no-skilled workers are those who are at least SPM leavers and they do the work like cleaning the aircraft which is also known as Aircraft Cleaners. They keep them aircrafts clean and shiny everyday. Semi-skill on the other hand is for people (fresh grad) that were un-lucky enough to get the JT post. They gotta start from down low and climb up to Mech, to JT to ST and finally to AE. This is pretty much you'd get if you were to apply with MAS. Full-skilled workers are LAEs. Usually, these LAEs are expats. Their rates are pretty much higher than our local LAEs.

AA and AAX on the other hand, they do have intakes for JT. Best bet to submit your apps by-hand at their main office in LCCT terminal building. AA and AAX though have similar names but different entities, thus you gotta submit on their own offices which is just next door to each other.

I'd recommend you to apply for AAX instead of AA since 2 of my friend just got their offer letter 2 weeks ago. Lucky them I'd say. You get to mingled with A330s and A340s. biggrin.gif

Now, for apprentices, or in other word, Trainee Engineer. I know of one person gets to that post with his EASA B1.3. Yes, you read that right, he's in rotary wing field. He applied with MHS (Malaysian Helicopter Services) and he's lucky to be offered such post. He was told that he will be assisted regarding his work schedule collection until he is certified as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer. Type rating? Im guessing he will be rewarded that as well throughout his journey. He's based in Kerteh, Terengganu.

You see, if you have B1.3 (Heli turbine), you'd open to bigger choices. Like for now, Weststar Aviation is hiring JTs and LAEs. If Im not mistaken, Agusta Westland is also hiring (they gonna open their own hangar I think?).

Dont feel bad if you dont get the post that you wanted. Its just how things work around here. You have experience, you are hired. If you dont, you start as a semi-skill workers.

I myself is still looking for one. Lets hope for the best. biggrin.gif

btw, semi-skill also can start collecting ws. Also depends on the airline la, if they allow you to collect ws or not. wink.gif
