No good news for iPod Touch 2nd gen user. The new PwnageTool 3.0 can't jailbreak iPod Touch 2nd Gen YET.

For those who have bought the OS 3.0 from iTunes, and have problem finding the ipsw file, the file is located at:
C:\Documents and Settings\ USER NAME \Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates\iPod2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw if you do it the legal way.

It wont spoil it. If anything goes wrong, boot into dfu and then restore to original firmware

Yes, it is jailbreakable, but I'm not free to update...


Short guide:
Use PwnageTool to create a firmware image and restore with that .ipsw using iTunes, this will only work if you are already Pwned at 3.0 or 3.1. If you are at 3.1, downgrade to 3.0 and use redsn0w to Pwn 3.0 then you have an upgrade path using PwnageTool.

Updated with Firmware 3.1 Jailbreak

note: This will only work on Mac, Windows is NOT supported.

Firmware 3.1 can be jailbroken in Windows using Redsn0w 0.8, but this is NOT recommended!
