Hi,

I'm wondering what is the minimum age to take home a newborn poodle?
Can anyone recommend me a good poodle breeder and the usual range of prices? Is there anything that I should pay attention when selecting a poodle? Like to keep myself informed.

I have read elsewhere that poodles from Thailand is not recommended? Any ideas the reason behind such reasoning? I noticed a shop advertising their poodles for really low prices which I am a bit sceptical for fears that the pup bought may end up sick/dead (despite the 2weeks guarantee on illness and death). But does this mean that those selling at higher prices are guranteed to make it through? Is there a "safe age" as assurance that the pup that was brought home would be fine?

Cheers.

QUOTE(sinv @ Feb 16 2009, 11:14 AM)
minimum age to bring a new born back is 7weeks old.
price range usually depends on the pup quality. whats ur budget? i would say the price range is from 750onwards.
Poodle from Thailand are all from puppy miller without proper care, chances of getting parvo n distemper virus is very high.
Are u referring to Fairyland petshop?if yes then i think u should avoid that petshop. There is a thread in Cari forum talk about all the problem with this petshop.
The "Safe Age" where the pup is usually free from problem is around 6months old, but usually at this age the puppy are mostly not so pretty canot be sold at earlier age.

So about 2 months minimum to bring a newborn back, thanks.

It's not Fairyland but I am unsure if the other shop was opened by the same owner. It is Tropic Pets and Veterinary Services @ Cheras.

So pet shops are not the right place to scout for a puppy? I have e-mailed two breeders but their prices are really, really high. Almost or in excess of the RM2k barrier.

How much do I have to set aside monthly for food/grooming/etc? Just a rough ballpoint so I can make sure that I am absolutely capable of caring for a puppy for long term. thumbup.gif

I see, so where did you get your poodle from? Do you know of any breeder contacts, or whereabouts I can get them? PJ or KL is fine.

It does seems that Fairyland has some sort of association with the Tropic Pets and Veterinary Services @ Taman Segar Cheras as she seems to post the ads on their behalf.

swt, the lady from Fairyland gave me a call after I sms-ed her enquiring. So I was told they have a batch of pups coming in the next couple of days, was quite shocked at the numbers. Approx. 15-20 of them. range RM800-1100..

Was told if booking was made between 1-3months, price can go as low as RM450 ohmy.gif and when I questioned if those dogs were from Thailand, she claimed they are from China. They have packages and insurance schemes as well sweat.gif
