My GARMIN Mobile XT screendraw rate is slow resulting in what looks like a GPS lag. But it is not a GPS lag, since i have no problem when running Mapking or iGO8

I am using the latest ROM v5.07.707.2. And running MalFreeMaps

Does anyone have the same problem ? Can someone recommend a fix for this ?

kevinwcw,
Reinstall the Garmin software ? I have tried that and it is the same.

Do you have the same problem with the Garmin software, especially when map display set to 3D

I have used Malfreemaps LITE with the same results. I don't think it is a RAM issue since the HTC Touch PRO has a big ram, and i have lots of it free.

I read around .....think it is a video driver issue....maybe the Direct 3D and Open GL video drivers. Anyone has a fix for this expecially the Open GL ES drivers. Does anyone know if Garmin uses the Direct 3D or Open GL ES to render the screen ?

I went ot the SPB Software House website and see that the latest SPB Mobile Shell is only v 2.1.5.

How is it that you have v3.0 ? Is this a beta version or from another developer ?

pcboy,
Thanks, but the TURBO_GPS_Settings.zip is corrupted (invalid archive). Can you upload again ?

What changes does it make ?

Thanks

pcboy,

Can you install GARMIN MOBILE XT version 5.00.30WP and check then "turn GPS off", and run a route SIMULATION and see if the graphics rendering is Ultra smooth or Jerky ?

Many Thanks

Added on April 20, 2009, 12:14 pmI have tried iGO8 but used maps Malaysia_8.3_0809_081201. The maps are not so good even when for suburbs around KL.

There is another better GPS software PAPAGO version X3. There is a review below :-
http://www.mobile01.com/newsdetail.php?id=7031

It also have the 3D building and graphics.

But this is in Chinese and i don't understand it, so have not tried. The graphics and screen layout seems better than iGO8.

Have anyone tried it and does it support English ? I think this is a better choice since one of the free local map community plans to do maps for it.

If you check the website below, there is also PAPAGO v5 and v7
http://matlastech.com/

I am confused, how is this different from version X3 ? So you have v5, v7, version X3, so which is the latest and best ?

See also http://www.papago.com.tw/
Listed here under Pocket PC are versions G10, R12, R15, VR-ONE and XX3. Can someone explain why there are so many versions and which is the latest and best

Sorry it was a typo, i meant 5.00.20w.

The graphics was not laggy with WM6.5, no jerking but very smooth movement ?

Was it laggy with WM6.1 and was the 6.1 you used the official ROM or a cooked rom....which cooked ROM ?

Ur current WM6.5 is not official/registered .. and i think HTC doesn't even endorsed this WM6.5 .. it was cooked by experts (named Shep) by using the leaked original WM6.5 version.. same also with TF3D2 (Rhodium Manila) .. its cooked also, not official from HTC ... but who cares.. as long we can use the new 'OS' with superb performance  thumbup.gif i'm totally satisfied with it!

if use Route Simulator, the car moves pretty slow like crawling.. i dunno is that normal or our TP is slow.. i'm saying based on my current WM6.5 ... when i was with 6.1, the car was crawling too.. i guess our TP pretty sucks in rendering graphic LOL.. i never used any cooked 6.1 ROM .. i used stock 6.1 from HTC .. i hope i have answer your questions

Search xda developers and there are a lot of discussion on this. At first people think that it is due to the GPS receiver, but then it was narrowed down to the slow graphics redraw, purportedly due to the lack of graphics device drivers that utilises the hardware acceleration available on the built-in ATI Imageon GPU. To rule out GPS receiver issue, select a route and run it using route simulator.

See video below to compared how smoothly the Mobile XT is suppose to be in a proper device

What did you do to it, can you share so that we don't make the same mistake? Did the HardSPL fail ?
