I just got my HTC Touch Pro on Monday evening.

Flashed to EnergyROM on Wednesday and Flashed back to v5.07 from HTC.com on Thursday.

EnergyROM is good and stable and fast but doesn't have video call. I'll just wait till 6.5WinMo is released officially. By that time the cooks at XDA-devs would have worked their magic and imported the VideoPhoney drivers/applications and it would be a better Cooked/Unofficial ROM.

Am happy now with the v5.07 although its a lil sluggish compared to the EnergyROM.

My version is stock with the only exception of my HardSPL. Don't feel the need to revert to the stock SPL unless warranty claim issues arise.

Btw, got the HTC TP with 2 years warranty from SIS.

No i didn't but i did make a .cab file to take care of most of the tweaks that i thought were necessary. Anyone using the D3D ati driver? Is there any difference? I know for Dopod 838 Pro, the Ati Imageon was a good tweak. Dont know about this. Does it help in normal day-to-day workings? Maybe for games it might work, but for video playback, is it better?

Want to ask 1 thing tho, when you slide out your Touch Pro to see the keyboard and if you shake the device, is thre like a metal clinging sound? And behind the screen, there is a metal plate that can move "freely"? I dont know if it is normal, anyone else facing this?

I know of someone porting the Android OS into the kaiser aka TytnII. So i am sure its possible. But why would you want it? Want to make your device sort-of a dual boot? With WinMo and Android?

Yes. It runs on a separate OS. I am not sure if you need to reformat the HTP but it would be wise to do a full backup first.

Fully utilize it? Just use it more and then you'll know what programs you want.

No you dont neeed an antivirus for your pocket PC. Reason is because 90% of viruses out there are created for WIndows and not for windows mobile. The other 10% broken down to Mac, Linux, bla..

Also, you are not always connected online and if you need to execute a file, windows mobile will ask you if you want to execute it. So you dont really need it. Also, just keep your bluetooth on invisible mode, so that people cannot access your pocket pc.

I've used a winmo device for over 12 years and never got a virus in mine before. *touch wood*.

Btw, want to ask you guys, is anyone here using any data plan? Celcom, maxis or digi?

Was just wondering what is the average usage, i am a maxis user and they have 3 packages for monthly plan.

58 - 500mb
78 - 1.5gb
88 - 3gb.

Just wondering which i should take. I usually dont surf so much on my phone unless got wifi.

Any input is much appreciated.

Yeah. Shouldnt be above 2k, but if you go to the higher floors in LY plaza, those ppl there (mainly chinese) will con you and tell you that its 2599RM. Happen to me a few times, and i actually asked them why the bottom shops like PDA Expert or other more famous shops selling for RM1.9k, they have the cheek to tell me that its fake ones. I was soo pissed but didnt wnat to make a fuss, so i just walked off. So yeah, just becareful.

Got mine for RM1.8+ with 4gb. 2yrs warranty from SIS distribution (M).

Buy a nokia N series. Not complicated. Can do whatever you want it to do also.

Um.. might drop a lil more but dont expect it to drop until like 1k. Also, when it drops further, expect this model to be phased out by then.

Dont buy. Just keep your money in bank. let it grow. Then when you have enough money, then take out and buy the one you like. If you are worrying about money at this point, you shouldnt be spending it.

If no one has replied back to you, i dont think anyone bought their TP from Senheng. You got free voucher issit? or Coupons?

Baronic, are you using any WM6.5 unofficial rom? if yes, do you have WWP v1.0.3? If yes, how do you get it to config the keys? I am using Tael's 2.2xxxx.

TP2 is around 2.9k the best i've seen around. Talking about SIS ori set. If not ori, like AP set, then can get for 2.5k i think.

I think the main selling point is that it has a bigger screen and the tilt feature from the Tytn2 days. Not to mention the Keyboard is just heaven to type on. Keys are nicely spaced. Other than that, people on this forum wont really use the conferencing call function. Even me, i have conference calls at least twice a week to Jordan and Dubai, i dont really care too much about it. Other than that.. the camera and all other specs the same. But did you know that the TP2 uses an older proc compared to TP.
If i'm not wrong it is something like TP2 uses 32 bit Qualcomm MSM7200A and TP uses 32 bit Qualcomm MSM7201A. But for all intents and purposes, its the same. Go here...

Don't whine about whether it will be phased out or not. What you have to look at is your investment vs your usage. If you are gonna spend 3k for a device and you really enjoy and love it and it actually makes you a happier/more efficient/nicer person, then i dont see why its expensive. Same goes for a 2k device.

As the saying goes "Money isn't money till its spent". But just be wise in your decision. If waiting will enable you to make a better decision, then so be it.

The thread with the keys, that i know off. And i made my own keys also. The GAPI thread, i didn't know off. Trying it now. Will report back with my find. Thanx.
