Assuming 15k is ur budget for HT (not including TV), u can get a nice separate setup. Get an AVR (Onkyo/Denon/Yamaha/Marantz) + 5 or 7 speakers (depending if u go 5.1 or 7.1 setup) and get a nice sub (velodyne is most common & affordable ~3k).

so... AVR = 4k, Sub = 3k, Speakers= 5k, balance 3k for BD player & cables.

Yammy 663 - 1.9 - 2 k
Sub - Velo 10Q - 2.2-2.3 k
PSB speakers - Alpha or Image series... dunno the current price for Alpha Series.. B25+C40= 2.3 k Surround  can go for ORD Mod 1 x 4 - 2.3 k (can PM mpyw for PSB and ORB price) or Q-acoustic Hiway Laser or Wharfedale 9.1 series speakers

but audition first bro.. trust ur ears..

1k+ for cables - buy from Futureshop cheaper...
that should leave u 5k for ur Sammy LCD

samsung sony = display from the same factory  - JV between Sammy and Sony. Sony "might" have more advance picture processing software. They definitely have higher price tag though. everybody knows that

if you want combo meal. why dont you get Pioneer lunch set. DVD player with built in amp and 5.1 speakers. RM2K nia. You can match that with a 50" PY full hd Panasonic plasma. the price is way below RM15K.

If you are looking for specific speaker + receiver brand - you might find a Yammy lunch set. drink plus main course. I mean speaker and receiver.

Else marrantz or denon - u see only receiver,

wait wait ... Pioneer also got 7 course meal me think. Receiver + speakers

bro, it is the budget you mentioned at RM 15K that prompted so many replies to you with custome set up... normal HTIB would cost only a few thousands ....

To get a detail suggestion from this forum, i suggest you listed down what is your priority requirement for the HTIB: video? audio? if video then wat you want? able to read all disc? able to upscale? BD player?

if audio is not very important to you, i suggest you get a samsung Blu-ray HT, (so it is future proof, and you will be able to play blu-ray title when they become more affordable), and spend another RM 150.00 to get a China made player, normally these players tend to be able to play 99% of the Discs out there

with your concern over the pick-up len sensitivity, i assume that you watch movie from Jack Sparrow made DVD most of the time, as most players won't have much difficulty in playing original DVD but struggle to pick up signals from those multi titles JS's DVD with sub-par PQ, if my assumption is correct, then a decent HT system plus another China made player will do for you

One of these players that can read most disc that i had experienced is the "Morgan" player. I think "Morgan" is a local brand with the player made in China
