I almost got buy 1 free 1... LOL.

Bought a Panasonic 37" S series from PC Fair and self-collect in their shop on the same evening. This morning a call came in and ask me where I stay and wanna deliver a TV for me. I ask what TV... already using what. The fella also blur like hell. Really pity the shop owner as their workers blur like hell and for little profit that might turn into a nightmare for them.

Just bought a cheapo HDMI cable and getting 1080p. It seem like the color is a bit off unlike when using VGA. Anyone has any idea how to get into Panasonic TH-L37S10K service menu?

One more thing... the text look awful too. I had to reduce the sharpness way too much from the default setting of 50. I had to set it to 10 to reduce edge of the text from oversharpening which makes them literally unreadable.

Update: Nvm liao... I made some adjustment to fix them already.

Any Panasonic 37" S owners here?

I wonder if you guys are seeing some white dotted lines at the top left all the way to the top center when not overscanning in 16:9?

Im quite happy with the quality that comes off it without the overscanning.

BTW,

Anyone know how to enter Panasonic LCD TV service menu? I tried the Vol- + 3x recall and got into the configuration menu. However, it only allows me to save the Brightness, Contrast, Backlight and position setting. Whenever I alter the RGB, it wont save and revert back to original setting. How aa?

I believe after you change a particular R,G,B value, you need to save the setting before moving to the next value to change. I believe you shd press a button for save. It will actually say in the svc menu. Else after changing R Brightness say, you move to B Brightness, the values do not change.

Out of curiosity, are you changing the values for RGB based on a meter reading or by eyeball? RGB values shd be changed based on a colorimeter/spectrophotoradiometer reading and not arbitrarily

What else? My eyes lor...
The problem is when I press OK, the moment I press OK, it revert back to its original value. Really sucks. There is no way to change it at all. Right now I can only change Backlight and Brightness. I was thinking about higher value for blue to no avail.

noob question.. is it advisable to buy a plasma tv as a desktop monitor replacement?

my friend bought one but it seems that the font are all very small. eventhough this could be altered but other 3rd party applications font couldn't be changed.

also.. what about the image retention/burn in effect? if using windows, etc. how long it takes for the image retention?

I think that should be okay if you are going to use it from your bed or something. Im using 37" LCD, a few feet (7ft) away from my eyes. When using FULL HD, yeah, the font is really small but you dont need FULL HD for normal viewing cos its so small. You can set your media player (ie. Media Player Classic) to change the resolution to FULL HD when viewing HD or FULL HD content. I had my desktop at HD (1280 x 720) and the font is thick and easily readable.

can anyone here help me for the problem below?
I bought a philips 42PFL5609s/98 full hd lcd tv recently. However, i found out that this lcd cannot support 1920x1080 for PC connection format after checking the user manual. The manual stated 1360x768 only via DVI/HDMI. I try to adjust the resolution via Nvidia Control Panel but just cannot adjust the resolution to 1920x1080. I m using NEC laptop (8600M GT) via HDMI-HDMI.
So, what can I do to view my pc connection at 1920x1080 on this TV? anyone can share the experience?  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

Well, maybe you should try another drivers. Laptop drivers usually provide limited resolution. Usually they would go on to modify the desktop card model to accomodate more resolution.

Anyway, dont use VGA connection. Its really sucks. I tried that on my 37" LCD as well. The max resolution is 1366x768. However, PC only support 1360x768 which makes the text hard to read because of pixelation. Normally Full HD is only available via HDMI. Even though the drivers does dictate the resolution availability, I dont think it will deter you from choosing 1920x1080. Make sure you enable 1080p first. Let me try it with my LCD when I get home. I have a laptop with 8600M GT as well. Will keep you updated.

Guys,

Are you using your LCD/Plasma with your PC? Im just wondering if you are experiencing the same thing I encounter. Im using ATI 4850 GPU. I noticed that when I use the left side DVI output, the color is warmer. But when I switch to the right side DVI output, the color is cooler and result better blue.

Anyone can double confirm that this happens to their set as well?

I dont believe those figures at all. I have a IPS LCD monitor that die on me after 3years. Even if I on it 24/7, it is still below 10,000 hours.

How do you use it is also important. I do think the ventilation is also essential so that it does not overheat and shorten the life of the component.
