hi guys,

saw paper's ad today on launch of new Samsung LED TV...nvr heard of it before, so dunno if its a new tech or something already out before..how's LED tech compared to LCD?

PQ wise, is it same as LCD? apparently, it features really deep black and whites is also very bright...

price wise? more expensive than LCD?
*
LED Backlit technology is not new, though commercially, it is still. Yes, this new Samsung is not OLED.

Compared to LCD, it is supposed to be better overall, though its 'motionflow' and 'dark' pictures still cannot touch a plasma.

Price-wise, dunno yet exactly but I heard its starting from around RM10K upwards. 40" being the smallest, I guess thats the price for it, so you can imagine the price range whistling.gif

I think the main advantage of this LED is that it is VERY slim. Also environmentally friendlier supposedly coz it does no CCF and its mercury and lead free.

Lets wait for the proper launch and get more details then smile.gif

Hi,
I'm looking for a 42 incher replacing my old CRT. Not exactly sure which one to get. Plasma or LCD better? The only thing that will be plugged in is Astro and PS3 of which Astro will be most watched.

Any recommendation? Will possibly mount this on the wall so do take that into account.

Thanks and regards.

Plasma.

Yeah, thats wat the Ass-tro guy told me, the new 'coffin' shaped Thomson is supposedly better at digital images (whatever) but it gives better PQ on HD flat panels. Its a great improvement, now my astro looks like how it was in my old CRT TV ........

(BTW the remote's a biyatch, right?)

dem kaw stress typing here, so many prefects ... sweat.gif

actually, i meant it as play of words lerr.. eg, made in Japan, as I tot it is now made in Panasonic plant .. wink.gif

BUT

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Aug 15 2009, 02:23 PM)
I've explained this before. No Pioneer panels are made by Panasonic. There was an initial agreement for Panasonic to supply Pioneer with panels in 2009 but that agreement is null and void since Pioneer decided to exit the market. So all Pioneer panels were made in Pioneer PDP plant in Japan. That plant is now closed. The last batch of panels were the KRP500 and KRP600 panels.
so we now all know better tongue.gif

noob question.. is it advisable to buy a plasma tv as a desktop monitor replacement?

my friend bought one but it seems that the font are all very small. eventhough this could be altered but other 3rd party applications font couldn't be changed.

also.. what about the image retention/burn in effect? if using windows, etc. how long it takes for the image retention?
*
On the contrary, TVs are being replaced by desktop monitors for video.

If you really wanna get a flat TV as a monitor, go for LCDs.

Guys, the distance from my sofa to the LCD screen is 9 feet. What LCD/Plasma tv size would you recommend? I used a tool somewhere online and it recommended 37"...which I think is a good size but reading Pana brochures recently becau, I should get a 42" because of the HD technology. I am afraid that's too big and feel like it's in your face and making you giddy like sitting in the front row in the cinema. Any advice appreciated. Thks.

I notice that JVC LCD tv is rarely/never mentioned here and I'm thinking of getting the model LT-42WX70. What do you sifus think? Or maybe Sharp LC-42A66M?
*
Micheal Learns To Laugh,

IMHO, get a 42". Bear in mind yr video source as well. If its HD, 50" is ideal, 42" is adequate, for your viewing distance, but you weigh the cost yourself. 42" is also good compromise btw HD and SD (eg. Astro).

GDLK.

Best way to prevent burn-ins - ... dun turn it on ? .... tongue.gif

Seriously, just avoid static pictures, channel logos and black bars.
