The Fast Pack announced for pre-order is not for the 1/72 model kit... it is for the 1/60 DX versions smile.gif from what i understand, Bandai will probably release a new 1/72 model snapkit featuring Alto & Ozma with FastPacks.
*
Wait... by fast pack do you mean super pack? I'm pretty sure Bandai is releasing both the 'super pack only' kit and 'super pack with VF-25' kit.

http://ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2009/01/rel...i-february.html

Or did Ngee Khiong make a mistake and those packs aren't for the 1/72?

I stand corrected bro, my mistake.. smile.gif Ngee Khiong is right, there IS a Fast PAck for the 1/72 kits..
*
You scared me there lol. I wouldn't want to have to buy another set of VF-25F and S to get the super packs!

That DX alto with the super pack on looks way too broadchested if you ask me. I know some people prefer the fatter look of the DX over the anorexic model kit but with the super pack on that DX looks like hulk hogan.

Totally noob with this but just finished frontier... and totally obsessed with sheryl nome now... what do you guys suggest for a VF-25?
*
Limited choices. There's the 1/60 DX version, which comes prebuilt. I find it really fat looking. There's the 1/72 model kits, which requires assembly. These are very accurate compared to the lineart of the VF-25. Both these 2 choices feature perfect transformation.

There's an upcoming 1/100 kit as well, but it requires part swapping for its transformation. From what I heard this one looks more like the DX as well. Fat.

If you don't mind building kits, I suggest you wait for the VF-25F with Superpack. Release date is the 19th of February.

the upcoming 1/100 is not a kit, it's an action figure, plus only the 1/60 DX chogokin has perfect transformation, for the 1/72 kit you'll have to swap some parts..
*
IINM the DX's hands also need to be swapped, just like the 1/72 kit. The was a huge fuss about this on the macross world forums about how it wasn't actually 'perfect transformation'.

Guys, sorry if I've asked this Q b4:

Is RM188 for a 1/72 VF-25F Alto Custom expensive? Thinking of getting one...
*
No, its quite a reasonable price. But! The new VF-25F that comes with the super packs included has been released, so you might want to wait for that.

Got my hands on the 1/72super pack. Got two of them actually.

First thing: You're gonna have to take apart the hip joint and rebuilt it with the provided parts. Which really sucked for my Alto unit cos I glued that part together already. Thank God I could fit my X-Acto in there and korek korek a bit until I could pry them apart.

The armor on the legs replaces the original parts. The outer covering that you can flip open to access the lock has to be removed. The small wing as well. Now to access the lock when transforming, you need to remove the entire armor.

Original chest armor is replaced as well.

The boosters on the wings are very nice, and the nozzle of the thrusters are very very detailed, and done in metallic.

The seperate box super pack is able to fit all four VFs. The colored parts are molded in white, and they give you decals to customize it into any of the four colors. Of you can paint lar.

Transformation wise, its not quite 'perfect'. You have to remove the missile packs on the chest armor and connect them using additional parts.

In plane mode, the legs of the VF-25 doesn't fit tight to the body. Instead, it hangs a bit lower to fit the armor parts. There might be a slight problem regarding the weight - its probably gonna slowly pull the legs down plane mode.

In mech mode. Well... the only complain is the damn boosters on the wings are so heavy, the mech can't stand on its own. I guess you will have to get the stands.

I only have a phone camera, and I am very VERY bad at taking pics, but I did try to take some. Posting them onto my blog, uploading is slow.

Taufufa. I got it for 90 ringgit. Also, they may call it an add on kit, but you can't really put it on and take it off easily. A lot of the parts are swapped parts, you you actually have to take the kit apart if you want to swap. Only the wing boosters are actually added on.

Since ep 1 got already loh. Its the full armored pack that Ozma uses on occasion. And yes this pic is a mod since the FA pack not yet announced by bandai.
Sounds like a nightmare.  shocking.gif  Do you think it can potentially damage the paint/decals while removing the original parts and replacing with the ones with the FP? All i can say is i had a nightmare of a time placing decals on my model kit (some stick to my hand during transformation and tear  doh.gif )

And another question...is the FP close to the dark grey colour cuz the pic from XL show it in light grey colour.

If you've painted and decaled the kit, then I think you'll have slight trouble attaching the parts. You're gonna have to pry the chest armor pieces off one by one, and the armor piece near the tail of the plane has to be slid on, so potential tearing there. Surprisingly the wing boosters don't seem to pose much trouble, because it doesn't actually go onto the wing, but hangs on to the sharp pointy bit on the wing.

The light gray color pics is the resin cast of the kit. The actual kit comes in dark bluish gray.

As much as i love Macross Frontier the anime series, i cant find myself buying any of the DX line sad.gif the 1/72 model kits are simply AWESOME in execution and looks, but sadly not to scale with my 1/60 collection..

I would have bought the DX 1/60 VF-25s if its a stand alone design; as it is, the DX is grossly anime-inaccurate.. it is awesome as a toy, but not as a model..

but of course, i would love to see more pics of it smile.gif particularly the gorgeous Mikhail Custom DX  drool.gif

judging from the news over at MacrossWorld, it seems Bandai would continuously improve the VF-25 mold; they are starting with Ozma's neck.. maybe it's not a good idea to get the DX now until the Frontier movie comes out..  hmm.gif
*
I was keen on the DX when they announced it. Bigger, no need to self assembly/paint. When they finally released the pictures however I just said no. The chunky monkey look, they neckless Ozma, the Urkle ankles. The kits are far superior as models, but as you said, the DX is definitely a better toy. No risk of damaging the decals etc etc when transforming.

RVF-25 and VF-25G secured! Now I have all four VFs. A bit worried that they won't release the armored pack as a stand alone. I don't want to buy another VF-25S! Boo!

Urgh yes, model kits. Unfortunately I'm still building them, so no pics. Donated blood today and my arm is a bit sore, not in the mood to ship parts off the trees etc etc.

Fast pics I snapped with my camera phone. My room has terrible lighting for photography. Un-decal-ed and unpainted until I can get Armor packs.

As if the macross exibition isn't gonna be a chicken coop as well. =.=;;

Frankly i dunno how u TFM ppl do it. Thinking about how to pack/unpack all those valks already making my head spin.
*
Ah, but it would be your chicken coop, not mine. Anyway, lots of boxes, the original packaging, and constantly asking yourself what you are doing helps when packing up. Don't think of packing to go back home, or you just might burst a vein.

Hihi just bought the Super Messiah Alto Custom. I think this kit is even harder than MG gundam and man.. first front nose in first page ady snap d. Sob.. Bought it for RM255 at Time Machine Is it cheap ?? Should have bought DX version instead and save all the trouble
*
Snap? You mean broke? Sorry to hear that. RM255 is a good price considering the yen is not as high as when the kit first came out. Every time you think of the DX, remind yourself the kit is cheaper and looks much better.

I suppose there will be a strict 'no touching' policy in place.

psst: tell you what, I'll let you fondle my figures if you let me transform, ok maybe not transform, touch? let me see you transform? your stuff.

The picture above is misleading. The image is showing the 1/72 model kit's Armored Ozma but it also says "DX" on the image. At 1s i saw "eh why so nice one the DX" then i can recognise the VF-25 is actually the model kit.
*
I was wondering the same thing as well, since I've seen that same picture on Ngee Khiong and he called it the 1/72.

Stickers? Where could i find them? So, in the end, i just need to find a fix post and do not transform it anymore?
*
The kit comes with both water slide decals and stickers.

Wolfx, question for you: did you use decal solution when you used the water slide decals, or just water? I'm curious if decal solution will help with preserving the decals during transformation. Still, when I finally get down to painting and decaling mine I'm not planning to transform them after that.
