Is this still a good timing to buy LX3? This camera had been surfaced more than half year already.

But i found good deal with it. the boss recommend others latest Panasonic model to me. Which have a new engine.

Anyhow, i feel LX3 still will have better night shot than others new panasonic digicam even though they have new engine & higher price a little than LX3.
Well, it is my personal intuition.

Any inputs from guys here? thx...~

I couldn't remembered the the model code anymore. I asked the price from a friend. The friend couldn't remember the model no too.

I guess there is very few new panasonic wif new engine, rite?

During PC fair, I saw one which price tag quite closer to LX3 price tag around RM15xx.

DMC - TZ 7. Guess this is the one the boss recommend to my friend. (Sorry i am out of camera trend for such a long while.)

How bout this one compare to LX 3? It seems much more smaller.
IF Night shot or indoor shot quality can assure. A little sacrify in size & weight of LX3 is tolerance to me.

I was a FX9 user. Yeah the ancient grandpa model. I had tried FX 01. Both of them are weak to get decent night shot or dim light condition.

After i surfed thru a few pages of night shot in this thread, i really gaining back my trusty to Panasonic.

I was plan to give Canon a try. Perhaps Nikon.

So far i know there are only two Kings in the pro-consumer line which is G10 & LX 3.

I had played around G10. I like the picture quality of it just the camera size still not handy as portable gadget. Too bad LX3 doesn't have the Depth of field from G10. I not sure this is the correct term. The one which make others areas become blurry and clearly detailing into the center of the subject.

(I found LX3 is so a hot-item in KL.. I found it out of stock in places i went at SG wang. So, this is like a best buy camera around the town so far..?!)

laichong,

All pictures without photoshop touch up?!

If original like it is, i am going for LX 3 soon..hee...THis is tempting~!

The moment at PC fair, the promoter demonstrates the DOF. THe result is not expected as i used in G10. That's why i feel a little dissapointed wif LX 3..

MF1: The image inside the focusing area can be enlarged during manual focus for easier viewing.

user posted image
MF2: The entire frame image is enlarged. This is helpful for macros and other shots that require extra-precise focusing.

Movable MF Assist: This lets you move the part that is enlarged by the MF Assist function to any area of the frame you want.

TZ7 does not have a manual exposure for serious night photographers. Casual night photo ok but don't expect it to be better than lx3 or g10. Both lx3 and g10 are great for night scenes.

Oh and welcome to the club argiope.

Roxygal, thanx for the inputs..

Thanx to Seta. Another LX 3 supporter.

I feel the LX3 joystick is much more comfortable to control the AF than G10 rotate button.

How much is that wide angel telephoto kit if order from shop?
Can't wait to see some pics taken by all the lens and filters in the kit.
If it's not because of this kit, I won't buy LX3.

no matter what g10 jog dial rotate button still hold an upper hand compared to lx3 joystick.

It's just that lx3 joystick menu is more user friendly and faster

Join the club, dino. I kinda prefer g10 controls when i tried it out. But the pic quality at iso speed 400 and above put me off. Other than that I got to admit its a great cam. Truly a competitor to lx3.

Nice info, roxygal. I am still exploring this cam's full potential.

awan, shops will usually order original pana accessories so its quite expensive. Adapter alone is around rm100 and wide lens is around rm600 last i check with fotokem.

congrats on purchase dopp

Code, its posted by roxygal in the first page. Here is the firmware link with instructions on how to update:
