firstly, congrats on V6!! it's the fastest moving thread evah biggrin.gif

now, just to share with ya all..my friend's 5800 keep having problem with the screen shutting off right at the instant a call is made or received.

the weird thing is, we both bought it on same day, same screen protector (doesn't precut the sensor) and he sent to NCC few times to check on it but still happens. Today, we both tested on a theory that this happens on very bright environment, (etc warm Sunlight) .

This is based on the theory that the sensor detects light, and if too bright, it might get reflected by the SP and confuses the phone thinking something is infront of it.

We both whipped out our phone and started dialing the same number, right at that instant, his screen shut off. Why not mine?

All these all..we thought screen protectors were the cause but based on this theory...i'm suspecting there is a batch of nokia 5800 with proximity sensor defect!

Maybe all these while we don't even need an SP that pre cuts the sensor. It's caused by an oversensitive hardware that might not have been tweaked properly before going into assembly.

just my thoughts biggrin.gif

or a smudgy screen protector...it happened on my 5800...i had to cut it...i don't think its the sensor's fault as it is doing its job perfectly fine...its just us users which decided that the screen needed an SP

thats what i suspected but when i looked at my friend's screen (acc to him he cleaned it up properly) , it also looks okay. doh.gif

gonna be hard tongue.gif since these days, all screen protectors for 5800 is precut already tongue.gif

i think the best bet is to make a call infront of very warm and bright sunlight, even without SP tongue.gif

of course they will...they're the NCC...

if there is dust, ask them to reopen and get the dust out...

if there are fingerprints ask them to get the prints off...

this is the beauty of buying an original from a multinational corporation...

you get to ask them to do whatever u want them to...

if not, u can always email the main office or even call them up to express your opinion...

speaking bout dust, i sent mine to clean it up coz i spotted 2 dots after few weeks of usage after they fixed my earpiece prob.

so i sent to to NCC to clean it up...who knew..after that, new dot came up! and on the spot i told him to redo it again..so he redid it again....but at the end, another new spot again!!!!

so i just went home and decided to DIY....now perfect....it's quite easy to open up the casing btw biggrin.gif
