My 5 yrs old FD1 also likedat since day 1 100% city ~ 9-9.5km/ltr 50% City/Highway ~ 10.5-11km/ltr 80/90% Highway ~ 13-14km/ltr Anyway..My 5 yrs babes already sold haha...Kenot resist the temptation from Korean Sonata Oh BTW, FD2 also having almost similar FC as FD1..not to be alarm..lotsa testing & comparison done in the 8thGen Civic club Malaysia http://eightgc2.forumup.com/ FD1 & FD2 FC almost similar QUOTE(stupidbump @ Jul 13 2011, 02:58 PM) Anyone mind to share their current fuel consumption for FD1 ? Trust me it is! If continue making this aeroplane sound and not only on certain surface...confirmed liao.. To check, the mechanic will jack-up your car and feel the vibration when the manually turn the wheel.. If vibration can be feel, confirm whell bearing kaput dy. Civic 8th gen suffered from wheel bearing problems on the rd yr of ownership. This is very common and lotsa workshops knew it wth so many Civic Gen 8th came in & complained...
BTW, for 8th Gen civic, esp wth Hydraulic power steering (1.8)...better change the power steering fluid every 50K km bcos that also another fast kaput parts..I got qouted >RM3K to replace my whole system!! I din changed the fluid since day one till kaput on the 4th yr!! p/s: BTW, power steering kaput symptom also having the almost similar humming sound!! ...Replacing to 100% leak free fluid help in reducing the humming sopund & also the leak. I sold off the car b4 getting the power steering replaced..phewww..lucky.. QUOTE(ub3rg33k @ Jul 26 2011, 11:11 PM) Humming all the time? Sometimes tires will also have humming "wong wong" sound when going through certain type of road surfaces. Mine does, so hopefully this is not because of the wheel bearing lah. Just ensure that the previous owner service the power steering fluid frequently, otherwise it will kaput even after 3 years.. Accord powe steering also suffered the same problem except Accord parts cheaper than Civic

I only go for original parts (For engine related), so dunno about outside w.shop. They might be cheap bcos OEM parts but I dunwan to risk anything on the engine, so only from Honda SC.
Well, on ext parts, such as wheel bearing, yeah I did changed one OEM parts on my rear bearing after exopiry of warranty..If SC, ~ RM900 but OEM only RM320... QUOTE(Revamperz @ Aug 10 2011, 12:42 PM) |

Huh..Why so worry about Civic 2nd hand value...Currently Civic 2nd value is the best in the market wor..Even after 5 yrs, the market value for a Civic FD1 still ~ RM78-RM83K.. well unless you sell to 2nd car dealer-lah...as what i did recently...I got only RM72K for my 5yrs+ Civic FD1..not bad-lah..considering the value maintaining ~ RM80K+ since 3rd-5th yr..

I mentioned the below remark on power steering..Atlast HM already acknowledged the problem and started recalling..Those wth power steering problem Aeroplane humming sound & leaking better take the opportunity...Good for them even recalling those after warranty period

You are lucky. Yours probably the 2008 model & milleage probably yet to tocuh 100K km & therefore you dun experience power steering leakages..Once you touch ~110K km.aha..the leaking starts..and this is real otherwise, they will not simply recall.'
The problem is those already paid to replace both the hose (~RM1300) & the pump assemblies ~ RM3300 gonna cry bcos they not going to refund! They will only re-replacing the already installed new hose!! |

1st 10-20K km the pick-up might be under power but thereafter the pick-up is ghood but 1.8 having abit of sluggish performance at ~ 70-90km/hr and thus..certain ppl might not like it.
FC is surprisingly almost similar to 2.0. QUOTE(Bumbeee @ Sep 11 2011, 05:19 PM) |
