bro, as mentioned by bro digs, only removable bios chip can be hot flash w/ any special tool, bios chip of our board is permanently soldered so hotflash can only be done by d distro (since they have that special tools).

obviously we can't just force ppl to stay w/ amd rite, at d end of d day it's still down to d person to decide which platform they would like to use.

dun worry, amd won't fall easily.

Im thinking to buy a pc for Oc and gaming for 3300.
Is intel better or AMD? Just plan for mild Oc.

Intel is a bit eazy to oc then AMD.......If u really wan to play alot with OC thing and hv more challenges .AMD is the best

from what i read, dragon platform does perform better in gamin (in d case of core 2 quad vs Phenom 2 - source here). both q9550 & Phenom2 oc admirably, w/ d latter havin easier steps as it comes w/ unlocked multi (that if u planned to do multi oc only).

but bro -pWs- mentioned intel quaddy oc oso challengin leh...

intel: q9550 + p45
amd: 940be + any 5 phase pwm (or above) board, like dfi dk 790fxb...

Depend on ur budget....Currently mobo with 790FX or GX is the best for running Athlon x2 , Phenom x3 / x4 or New Phenom II . Ram with micron D9 chipset is the best oc chipset

no doubt ax78 is a great value board, but to pair it w/ denebs... ermm...

yup, that's why i never belittle d challenge of overclockin a intel quaddy (as i neber tried that myself, no doubt core 2 series oc is alot more easier). but amd oso got their acc for agena, lotsa times needed to find d suitable settin for it to work.

after havin d 9750, for d 1st time i found that acc does help in pushin higher clock (for agena).

have u tried d latest bios for 790gx 128M? if not try it asap, noticable increment in stability for my chip. it mite work for u too since ur d only 790gx 128M user w/ quaddy.

how exactly the acc helps eh ?

stable @ higher clock.

some find outs regardin 790gx 128M for agena oc:
- more sensitive to vcore in d sense that if vcore slightly not enuf say hi to bsod/improper reboot
- acc works perfectly (via bios)
- aod (version 2.1.4) is a nightmare for d board. (very unstable). voltage controls are limited to few only (vcore, vdimm & vnb). i'll try d latest when i have d time.

not bad for a board that cost SGD$100 less than DFI, but still DFI is better (as always... )

errr..msi using AMI bios actually, just the layout looks like award

I dont mind AMD but I see the 940 is 850 ringgit.
Motherboard is 350 for biostar gx. is this good?
I just bought saphire 4870.

The respond from this thread is better than Intel.
So in conclude to pick amd as you all seems so helpful.
For me both is just brand and anyone could get me a good working gaming pc is fine.
