nearly ordered the C905 until been told that it has no front camera for 3G calls.

Wonder how the existing user feel about this drawback? For me I make adequate number of 3G calls to see my baby in hometown... So this makes me in a dilemma now

to me its a drawback...but not a life altering drawback la....tried making video call with my GF last night...had to use the cybershot camera for the video call...abit weird...but no big deal... since i see my gf often...it really doesnt make a difference to me... would have still preferred if it had the front camera though.

for C905, can we show pictures in the phone instead of the live image from the camera during video call, just like K800 and K810?

if so, at least I can show my baby a static picture (while I see his video) when making the video call..

Thanks for the info. Agree that "no handphone is 100% problem free". However wanna be sure not to get those hardware issues like LCD prob, broken speaker etc. smile.gif

software issue is tolerable

Dun buy ap la go for ori  brows.gif

to me, AP used to be having big different with Ori during the time which we have to goto the service centre for phone updates.

but nowadays SE, Nokia etc all support the online software upgrade, so it really makes no sense to spend the extra couple of hundred just for the so called "original warranty". I had experience visiting the SE Service Centre checking for the issue on DS980 bluetooth, its an original midland one. But instead of having the technicians to check on the spot, they ask me to return tomorrow to know the result!? vmad.gif I seriously find this is even worse than the service provided by some of the good outside hp shops!

Somemore AP doesn't mean fake phone, just that it has a higher risk of getting fake battery, recon set etc. But if buying from trustworthy seller, its basically the same as what you got from midland and thorus.

finally made the decision to buy the phone.

Its a black AP one, built 08w53, from an established shop in Johore (since price only a RM20 extra compared to KL here). The seller also mentioned that the initial releases of C905 indeed had problems at the speaker.. but new versions seem to be ok already.

Just finished charging overnight, tonight will start the setting up! BTW, really appreciate SE’s contact export features, easily get back the complete contact lists

Found an issue with the display of contact name:

I saved my contact in the format,
Surname(Last Name), Given name

e.g. Tan, Ah Meng

in the contact list I've set the names to be sorted by Last name, which everything is fine.

but in the calling screen and the call logs, the names are shown in a weird format
e.g. Meng Tan, Ah

do you guys have this problem? anyway to configure this?

For my first name last name things, its a bit panjang lebar but I'll try to summarise it

1. Due to synchronising with Outlook (which has last and first name), I typically register my friend list (e.g. Tan Ah Meng) as
Last Name: Tan
First Name: Ah Meng
2. so when first time synch with my ex-K810i, the name appeared as Tan, Ah Meng
3. Using Advanced Options > Sort Order under Contact, K810i correctly recognises Tan as last name, and the names are sorted as Tan, Ah Meng, Tan, Brandon etc.
If not, the name are sorted by First name, so I get Ah Meng Tan, Brandon Tan etc, which I don't like (prefer to sort by surnames)
4. in K810i, after doing the Sort Order settings, even in the calling menu and call logs, everything is fine

5. When moving to C905, I backup and restored the contact list, and did the sort order setting. Everything is same as K810i except the call log and dialing screen.

case1. If I set the Sort Order to the default First Name, Last Name, the contact will show as Ah Meng Tan, call log and dialing screen ok

case2. If I set the Sort Order to Last Name, First Name, the contact will show as , Tan, Ah Meng, , but the call log and dialing screen will show
Meng Tan, Ah,

Of course I can set the name as Tan Ah Meng without comma in both case1 and case2, but this will case the First Name and Last Name field in outlook to confuse

so basically this is the dilemma I'm facing. Tonight will test out the synch again when getting back home.

Ian, that's what I wanted. But my only concern is the synch with Outlook.

Do you synch with the PC?

A very scary experience just now.. while upgrading the firmware, my house "power trip" during 50% of the firmware uploading to phone... so scared thinking the phone gone case liao on the 2nd day yawn.gif
luckily SE has a good design which when resuming back the update service, pressing the C key and removing-reinserting battery did bring the phone back to detectable mode, and the update finally succeeded.

First day of using C905, I found this phone has some apps that will diam2 use the 3G connection sometimes, which is quite costly. So I had to create a dummy entry in Streaming and Internet settings to prevent the 3G connections.

back to my new questions:
There's a USB Network > USB Netowrk Type > Via Computer option, which is said to be allowing the phone to use the PC to connect to the net. There's some tutorials on this, basically involving setting up a new network on windows, selecting the LAN created by C905. But with the latest firmware, Allow Network Sharing option no longer allows the configuration of Workgroup, which is an essential field to make the trick work. Anyone has tried C905 online via the PC internet connection after the new firmware update?

Last Q, my prev K810i is able to use PAN via bluetooth to go online, but C905 seems doesn't have such capability.. is it so?

Understand that C905 is equipped with WIFI, but its not available in my area (and my house tongue.gif), so I'm exploring the alternative smile.gif Hope can find some way to online

glad the forum is back to work

anyone knows where to get the TV Out cable ITC-60, and the deskstand CDS-75 in KL?

I wonder how's the quality of the TV out cable since its just a S-Video (yellow) input to the TV.. unlike through a component cable like what a typical cybershot camera does

Try Sony Style or SonyEricsson shops?
*
Nope.. thats the sad thing about the accessories availability in malaysia..

not sure about the new TV Out cable, but all the SE or SonyStyle I visited in KL don't have the CDS-75. I found only CDS-65 (more plainful one, in silver color) at LYP.

attached is the picture of CDS-75 deskstand, taken from SE official site. The look and feel matches a black C905 perfectly thumbup.gif

this is the new TV Out cable released with C905. Note that it includes the audio cable for mp3 output via TV speaker (although not very useful, unless your TV is then connected to hifi)

I'm looking for Camera Phone Kit IPK-100 for the C905. But I doubt can find tongue.gif

you asked the correct person. I bought this for my k810i at the SonyStyle in Berjaya TimeSquare.

about RM8x.

but the quality of the hp holder is very bad, used for less than 2 months and the rubber patah!!! The only good thing is the mini tripod, which I find way better than the new design advertised on C905 page.

if the main attraction of HPM-90 to you guys is the LED, why don't consider HBH-DS980? Somemore its bluetooth stereo, with quality comparable to the wired earphones.

Price is around RM290~499

I feel the same thing here. I was in Oldtown JayaOne with both PSP and C905. PSP could connect w/o problem but C905 keep prompting either Cannot connect to network, or PassPhrase not entered (weird! coz that is Open wifi)
