put down softwares that you have tested and DOES not work with windows 7
This also includes partially work softwares. Also please include WHY it does not work

Does not work

- Symantec AV 2009 (installer is blocked by windows as being incompatible)

- UltraEdit32 Latest Build (Installer will hang when it reaches the uncompressing stage)

- NetLimiter 64-bit (32-bit is not tested)
BSOD right after log'd on Windows 7. Tested all 64-bit, all BSOD. Solution? Wait for the update from author.

Partial
- Symantec AV 2007 (RTVScan won't run at all, but the AV itself works)

- Google Chrome
AW SNAP'd at start. Solution? Add --in-process-plugins at the end of the shortcut's target.

- WinRAR 3.8 - Partial
Shell extension not 100% working. In certain occasions, Extract each achieve to separate folder command is not working. Solution? Run operation in WinRAR window.

I'm running Windows 7 Build 7000.

i use bitdefender internet security 2009 on my windows 7 build 7000 64 bit.
during installation, there is an error pop up, but i continue anyway.

it s working, but here's my problem:
1) can't update. error says cannot connect to server. but i reinstall bck & it works.
2) few days later, the problem comes bck.

AVG for Windows 7 ?

- I was getting plenty of BSOD (with file related to AVGDL) whenever AVG for Windows 7 was running in the background
- I uninstalled, re-installed the old AVG Free Edition (for XP/Vista) and until now, no more BSOD

ccleaner - may mess up your registry keys after you have done the cleaning.


Compatible(works) with windows 7:
Monitor calibration wizard - you have to set compatibility mode to windows xp sp2 in order to install. it works perfectly in windows 7.

IE8: Won't stream media if it's ASF/WMV/ASX <-- WTF lol??
Opera: does not recognise Media Player plugin
thus the only browser that can stream asf right now is just chrome sad.gif

Hmmm, didn't noticed that. Btw, Google Chrome still can't stream WMV. Had to play WMV file from Channel9 in standalone WMP window.

The file needs to be loaded in a WMX file first before Chrome can load it. It can't direct load a WMV file

It seems like Kaspersky for Windows Workstation v8.0.0.1071 didn't work properly after all. Updates not working as it should. Keep saying outdated when updater said it's up-to-date. Also, the log file kept growing extra huge after a while, on my system, the log files only is 29GB... yawn.gif

ati radeon driver dosnt seems to work on me , it can install but the CCC wont load or there just no icon of CCC and the system wont ask for reboot after i install it .... wonder if its my problem ? cos read on other thread other seems to get the driver working ......

Also Nero 6 is not working in windows 7.

I have tested Adobe CS3 product suite and all of them work fine in Windows 7 in the application compatibility mode. Make sure you choose the compatibility mode on "setup.exe" before you execute it (make sure you install them with an account listed in the Administrators Group list).

Other compatible software:

All versions of Avast 4.7 and Avast 4.8 (Home or Pro) work well (no need for the application compatibility mode setting)

i tried to install the ZTE MF622 HSDPA USB modem on Win 7.

1) not auto install, on WinXP it is auto install thumbup.gif

maybe its because i accidentally did something to it....
btw my win7 RC is build 7100

It quite annoying but I've come up a fix.
Right click your WLM icon, under the compatibility tab, select Windows Vista.
Then your WLM should be in the task bar and it'll not pop up everytime you minimize your Firefox.

Not REALLY compatible,

Norton Internet Security 2010.

Some of its files are shared with Norton 360 making my Windows 7 RC pop up saying there is a compatibility issue, but you can just ignore it

Illustrator CS4 works for me. First, make sure you have original disc and try to reinstall again by turning off antivirus temporarily.

Bitdefender Total Security 2010 make my computer freeze. I suspect the firewall device. 2009 version works very well, but the firewall device being disabled because not compatible with Win7. Now 2009 force me to switch 2010, so i uninstall and install Kaspersky instead sleep.gif

Media Player Classic Homecinema worked weird. The video played are cut into half.
So, I had to use Media Player Classic instead of Homecinema version.

Other all just works fine.

ComboFix is designed for Windows XP system, not Windows Vista or Windows 7, so obviously it won't work.

The sofware I used in Windows 7:
1) KIS 2009 (not working, many features unable to start)
2) Avira Free (working, though always pop-up incompatible)
3) safe360 (fully working)
4) Warcraft III (got flashes behind or blinking when playing)
5) K-lite codec (fully working)

The main concern now is unable to turn on the bluetooth.

fix. kill explorer before you run the game from task manager.

u will lose the task bar

After the game
then press ctrl+alt+del
file -> run. Type explorer. all return to normal.

solution: use built in player with x64 external codec.

lenovo y410 power management will not work correctly on x64
solution:use vistax64 driver for later model(y5xx) and run on vista compatibility mode.

oh, avira personal antivirus got driver problem, but the latest build of that antivirus should be fine...

Anyone got problem with the Codec Pack installed in the Windows 7. I'm currently using the K-lite codec full version ( latest ).

Every time I start my video, the entire windows 7 will blink and change to windows 7 basic instead of windows 7 Aero. Suspect the windows media classic is not compatible with Aero version.

There should be no problem with K-Lite as I am using it too. Try updating your video driver.

Ceasar 4 cant be run at all. When try to run the game, a box will popup said sumthing like directx not compatible.
But after i installed Championship Manager 2010, i reinstalled the Ceasar 4 and it runs like normal! rclxub.gif

IIRC Championship Manager 2010 will install DX 9 compatibility layer for Windows 7 DX 10.
Thus, all the other DX 9 games will detect DX 9 properly in order to play and install correctly.

Had problems with 7-Zip 9.10 beta on my Windows 7 Ultimate RTM build 7600 install.

Couldn't set up 7-Zip as the default compression software when checking the check boxes in options. The check boxes are unchecked eventhough I have checked all and saved them.

Had no problems with 7-Zip 4.65 though.

Are you sure it's incompatibility problem? Have you tried the 7-zip beta on other OS like Windows XP or Windows Vista first? To me, looks like it's a problem with 7-zip itself since it's beta, not Windows 7, so this can't be classified as incompatible.

OCZ Alchemy Elixir Gaming Keyboard drivers don't work properly with Windows7 64-bit. Either they programmable keys don't work or keys get confused (eg. 't' becomes 'u').

Currently OCZ do not acknowledge that there is anything wrong with the drivers.

im using win7 ultimate x64 and sound quality output through my creative sound blaster(note:almost spend wholeday just to search solve the driver compatibility issue) were poor compare with using xp for almost past 10 years..i mean poor alot..cant confirm the sound project damn it..through pc the sound is tight but when blast at da club or outdoor equipment it is bursting out wtf man..

klite codec and MPC homecinema cant play some of the rmvb files. codec not found when in vista n xp all rmvb files can watch. stormcodec is temporary the best can play all the video files but u need to find the best version for your win7 bcoz different vers different video quality u get

especially 64bit win7

- workaround : download modified Audigy Value driver

PCSX2.0.9.6 (renders refuse to start, so cannot play...)
- need new plugin but... well PCSX2 user knows why.

Stalker Clear Sky (some component missing)
- need to manually download and install "Tages Driver"

Alcohol 120%
- architecture of optical media in windows 7 is different, so this kind of software never works =/

This is so annoying... the one thing i really need more than anything else wont work smoothly... HUAWEI MOBILE DRIVER.... The software MOBILE PARTNER wont recognize the modem... have to uninstall com driver and then hope auto driver reinstall works... and even huawei not giving much effort to help... they have more than 6 month yet have not done much to resolve the issue... i'd never buy huawei again... customer supports suxs...

Need anyone with this kind of experience.

I migrated (merged) from both XP Pro 32 bit and Vista Ultimate 32bit to W7 Ultimate 32 bit (1TB WD HDD).Data from both HDD for 2 different OS combined together in the 3rd HDD for W7.

My Question is: Have anyone installed an old game call Command & Conquer Generals Zero:Hour on W7 ?

I installed C&C Generals (not the expansion) and it works. However, the expansion doesn't work even though i used the compatibility mode. That game was installed in Win XP and it works. It just pops an error message " you have encountered a serious error... bla bla bla"..

Does it crash at the intro video? If it is, then you can apply this fix.

seems like urs gt so many malfunction application, but nero 8 works well for me, which part of it is malfunction?

Got the same problem,but the solution could not be any simpler for me lah,got to your my document/Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\options.ini,and double click to open it.

ye old 3dsmax 5.1,incompatible because of cd-illla software protection driver not compatible with win7.
Powerdirector ver 6-8 cyberlink incompatible.latest patch for ver.8 is ok smile.gif

tested on win 7 32-bit Ultimate.

Avast Antivirus and Emsisoft Anti-Malware both work great on Windows 7.

I had a problem where my computer wasn't installing the Windows 7 updates for a while. Then I discovered that the TrustedInstaller service was missing. After I got that installed properly my computer now updates properly. It took me over a month of trying different things to finally figure that out though. Just a tip for anyone else that can't install their Windows updates.

Seems that Avira Antivirus Free Edition also does not really works for Win 7 64 bit. When it attempts update or attempt scan, it occasionally hang my notebook. I switch it off.

i having no problem playing it.
c&c zero hour
resolution use 1366 x 768
when load that time did u click other thing?
when i launch the game , if i click any thing or button it will say you have encourtered a srs error !
but if i just leave it there for abt 5sec then pop fullscreen and can play liao biggrin.gif

Microsoft security essential i recommend..
it can run with windows firewall but need original windows..

my cyber cafe use that n no problem at all if u really care about you computer.

for support, use malware bytes free to scan at least 1 time a month.

some of its execution files were created since year 1995.
