QUOTE(About Lowepro)
Photography is a passion for us. Designing, producing and distributing innovative, protective, durable and stylish bags for photographers—from professionals to weekend enthusiasts—is what drives us. Since 1967, Lowepro has been a leader in protective carrying solutions for photographic and electronic equipment.

We distribute our products in more than 100 countries and regions around the world. Our corporate offices are located in the United States, Canada, Australia, the UK, Germany and Switzerland
.

Hi all Photographers and Videographers.

I search and found that there wasn't any Lowepro thread for any discussions, so I created one.

Anyways, here is where discussions about Lowepro products can be done. Please no trading here.

Happy discussing.

Just to add something which is quite important to future users of Lowepro.

Beware
of imitation or factory reject Lowepros. They are out in the market and is hard to recognize them unless you compare the original with the fakes.
Only get products with the sticker from Technical Photo System. You will have a sticker on the cardboard that comes with the bag. They are the only official distro in Malaysia. The rest are parallel importers. If you need to warranty just show TPS the cardboard with their sticker on it.

From Lowepro's website:
http://www.lowepro.com/locations/intl.php?loc=Malaysia

*used my PDA's camera. Sorry for the quality.

Regards,

dadarouch

p.s. Mods, this thread is not to create a brand war or trading, but is just for discussions. Hope I did not break any rules. If I did, do tell me. Thanks

Size and Price wise.

The plus version is slightly bigger which can accommodate a 17" laptop and a lil more space for lenses inside. The non plus version fits laptops up to 15.4".

I use the non plus version with inspiron 6400 laptop.

Yeap but it would be a hassle for those who can't import in themselves. Moreover getting from Malaysia would make the warranty process easier since it has a life time warranty

I'm using Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW. A highly practical and comfortable sling bag for me as a biker with my modest gear. I need to change for a proper rucksack if i change to longer telephoto lens or my stuffs getting heavier. I'm happy with the bag currently. TQ for those peeps that recommended the bag to me.

well hi can i know where to get the cheapest lowepro bag in KL or melaka ?
i have a 40D and normal kit lens 18-55mm

the main things the bag can hold is as above body + kit lens, upgrade grip (40D) and a flash gun. which model is big enough for those item ? i would like a shoulder bag since i have no "real" gear now.

How long is your lens?

I think the Lens Trekker 600AW II ( For 300mm f/2.8 to 500mm f/4 lens attached with body ) should do the trick?

Retail price in Malaysia is RM 1310

LC3 can fit the 24-70 with the hood reversed but 'ngam ngam'(lc3) on the circumference of the hood...not exactly tightfit but tightfit in a way... if you understand what i mean.

get a LC4 or even lc 5 tongue.gif to accomodate your 24-70 and longer lenses maybe? btw, lc5 is #@$ huge, saw that in a shop the other day and its another 'bag' itself laugh.gif

when getting the lense cases, dont take the measurements literally when checking if it fits the lense as the case is not completely round, its slightly 'flat' on the side that you 'hook' on the bag

How long is your lens?

I think the Lens Trekker 600AW II ( For 300mm f/2.8 to 500mm f/4 lens attached with body ) should do the trick?

Retail price in Malaysia is RM 1310

mine is slightly shorter than a Canon 70-200 F4 L but then I might upgrade to a f2.8 in the future

How about flipside 200 pricing ?

Exactly,

To protect something which is exp and valuable such as your DSLRs , lenses, flash etc you'll have to pay abit more for quality goods which works.

That is why I made a point to tell all of you to beware of imitation or factory reject Lowepros.

Lowepro has a limited range of trolley products.

Just as calvin_gsc and ifer, they are mostly cases and not normal bagpacks smile.gif

If you are finding for a bagpack and would want to sometimes use it with a trolley, op for KATA products.

i saw with nikon badge as well in nikon shop in HK. I asked and the boss said that nikon bought the license to use the design. However, the quality is as good as lowepro but at a lower price though~

Honestly, these prices are obscene and bordering vulgar.

In comparison with the price of DSLR + its lenses etc, it is already cheap. Can't expect a RM50 bag to offer padded protection. Moreover, Lowepro has lifetime warranty.

For those who want a cheaper alternative, I suggest you guys to email cathay singapore and ask for a quotation. It's almost Rm100 cheaper than what malaysian stores has to offer.

Yea, but it would only be worth it if you are at the same time going to SG. Else it would exactly be the same.

Added new lowerpro stuff to my collection.

Lowepro Lenscase 3 (LC3) - SGD$30.

Review : Looks really huge from the outside, but when you open the zip, you'll see how thick the paddings are, I trust this lens case can protect my lens if the whole thing drops. Can be attached to both my rezo190aw and minitrekker classic, can be attached to a belt too.

Cathay has great prices for everything (I got my gear from them) EXCEPT Lowepro bags. MS Color in Ang Mo Kio quoted me SGD130 for FastPack 250 but currently out of stock - have to wait until next week.

Hahaha... You also like me. Not sure which one to get.
But I like backpack that we can grab the camera directly from the bag side or upper and then shoot.
With my current bag, I have to put the it on table or floor, then take out the camera, and then shoot.

Finally got my hands on black Flipside 300 today!  rclxm9.gif

I forked out RM400 for it. I think the price quite steep to be honest but what the heck, those gears inside are more important to be protected!  smile.gif

Hi..i'm currently looking for a Flipside 300..so far the cheapest i found is RM 409....can i know where you got RM 400? thanks

TS..quoted below is what you mentioned previously..

"Beware of imitation or factory reject Lowepros. They are out in the market and is hard to recognize them unless you compare the original with the fakes."

but can i know how to differentiate it? i saw the so call original white tag with red QC stamp before...but i believe even the pirates can make it..

please advise..thank you..

Only get products with the sticker from Technical Photo System. You will have a sticker on the cardboard that comes with the bag. They are the only official distro in Malaysia. The rest are parallel importers. If you need to warranty just show TPS the cardboard with their sticker on it.

From Lowepro's website:

I have a similar model/older called Topload Zoom AW. Fits ONE camera and lens. There is a pouch at the opening where I put my shutter remote as well as filters. As the camera is stored face down, you have to be careful about the straps. I will put on top of LCD and old T-shirt to protect it from scratches. I also stow two large trash bags just in case it rains heavily. I think I can dump the whole bag into the plastic trash much faster than putting on the AW raincoat. It's my walk around bag, I like it.

p/s - It comes with a harness where you can hang the bag in front of your chest like a mamma kangaroo. Very practical but makes you look like and idiot. Also check out www.cambags.com for further reviews.

I bought it from Cathay Photo, they left only blue one. sad.gif

yeah, the quick access is really quick.
another good point about this backpack is this feature(see below), it's really convenient to change lens.

previously using D200AW, carrying tripod together with another shoulder bag makes my shoulder really uncomfortable.
the primus minimus is over my budget, but no choice because i really cannot accept the boxy looks of other cheaper models i.e slingshot, flipside, fastpack, minitrekker..etc doh.gif
now i can carry tripod and camera altogether in a more comfortable way. smile.gif

Just check Fastpack 350 at Mid Valley this afternoon. The size is very big. I think Fastpack 250 is already enough for me. Unless if I have a 17" laptop.

What do you think? Should I invest money for Fastpack 350 (who knows, maybe I will buy 17" laptop in the future) or Fastpack 250 is ok already? No need to buy big screen laptop. Save more money.

Some shops/sellers give lower price like RM290 for Fastpack 250 but some give RM490 like at Fotokem. The price gap is very big. So is that mean Fotokem get the beg from the official distributor (original bag)?

How about the white tag "Made In China" as shown in Shashinki website? Is it also can be considered as original Lowepro bag?

After did a lot of survey and asking, I have decided and bought Fastpack 250 from Eric last Friday.

At first, I bought Fastpack 350 from him but then found the size is very huge and tak sesuai with my D90 kit and flash. Then I changed it to Fastpack 250. Now very happy. Have brought it to 2 events this weekend.

Yeah Lowepro thread! I've got two Lowepro bags, sold my CompuTrekker recently and bought a Think Tank. The ThinkTank is fantastic as well.

My Computrekker Plus AW is up for grabs. PM me if interested. Link in my siggy. It's a great bag but preferred to let someone who can benefit it more than me to treasure it.

I just got my Fastpack 250 from mitmivec today. The bag now can fit my 400d, 50, 18-200, 70-200 and 430ex. Hooray! smile.gif

It's sturdier than my Kata DR-465 but a little bigger too. It's almost like having another person stuck closely to your back. So thinking how to maneuver in PC Fair now. LOL!

you lost the paddings or what? cos usually they give quite a few.

so far among my bags, the one with most padding given was Jenova brand. Really more than what my Lowepro bags gave.

I've ady ordered a fastpack 350, gonna reach next tuesday most probably. It's a public holiday over here tmrw.

Was choosing btw the fastpack 350 and flipside 400 but in the end went with the fastpack as I needed the laptop compartment, and love the easy access that it offers. I'm using compudaypack right now but I've ady outgrown the bag quite a while back.

I would say it would be cheaper to get it outside of Malaysia. Don't know why but Lowepro sold in Malaysia is so pricey compared to outside. My friend bought a Flipside 300 for RM300 from Bangkok, the Flipside 400 is RM10 or RM20 more pricey, but no stock available unfortunately.

@celciuz

Yeah I do agree with you. Most countries sell it at a cheaper price compared to Msia. As I've mentioned before, those who wants to get a bag might consider making a trip down to Sg, holiday or something then get the bag at the same time.

hello, im think of gettin either outback 200 or inverse 200aw.

im using canon 50d and would most probably be attached with 70-200mm lens all the time. i would also like to bring around my speed light and another lens.

which of these 2 are more suitable for me? or u guys have other opinion for waistpacks :-)

@weirdo88

I used the compudaypack for 3 years extensively, it's a good bag if you don't mind the bulkiness as the external size is a little big. The extra compartment will be very useful for misc stuff like jackets and etc or even extra lenses.

@bladesinger

Only the slingshot 400 has the AW cover. Which fastpack are you going for? If you're planning to stuff a lot of stuff into a fastpack, the easy access function wouldn't be so easy to use anymore as the bag is too heavy. That was why I went for the flipside 400 instead.

Crazy cheap! I bought my Flipside 300 about 2 years ago at rm600. cry.gif

Was thinking of Flipside 400 recently coz 300 is too small for my usage now. Went to buy that time only realized no laptop compartment. sad.gif Really wanted to stay with Flipside coz I love the swing around system for changing lenses. It's the best system IMO.

Well, I choose fastpack because it has a place to put a laptop like the computrekker
I will be travelling a lot so I need to put my water bottle and my other related stuff just within reach
For computrekker, you can't put other stuff inside the bag and the only way is to put together with your camera laugh.gif
The computrekker doesn't have any water bottle pouch which is the only way to put is buy the bottle bag which I already have
When I travel, I carry only what I need. Like 1 standard lens, a prime, 70-200, flash, UWA or Fisheye.(which can fit inside the fastpack 350 camera compartment)
I don't need to carry my whole drybox with me tongue.gif

I say computrekker is more of full camera bag and the fastpack is like a travel bag laugh.gif

^ I'm using the Flipside 400 AW. So far satisfied with it, the build for me seems to be better than the Fastpack series. Only downside is no laptop compartment sad.gif.
*
I also now feel my flipside 300 is kinda limited and now i need the laptop compartment too..and i agree with bro Ianho, the swing around sytem is great..for the upgrade, pro runner 350 AW looks OK and i read some good reviews..the only think dat worry me a bit is the bulkiness..what do u guys think?

Looks fine to me, but at 2.3kg, maybe it's a lil heavy for daily shooting usage. flipside 400 is lighter but minus the laptop compartment. I'm using the flipside 400 currently, although without the laptop compartment, I'm pretty satisfied with it, don't really lug my laptop with me all the time.

As far as I know, I am the only online reseller which is getting stock from TPS. The rest are all retail shops.

You may call if you would like to verify on the statement I've given:

wah now lowerpro oso got its own discussion area meh? laugh.gif

btw im a user here. i use the flipside 200 and the tiny nova 160..

and like other forumers here, i also find my bag is gettin smaller n smaller each day n i may need to hunt for a new bag. a bag that could fit my camera stuffs, my laptop, n some other stuffs. probably i'll go for the fastpack 350 or the vertex 300. but the fast pack is seriously big for a small dude like me n im gonna miss my monopod section. sob

Just bought a Compuday Photo 250.

Very non-camera bag looking backpack with notebook compartment.

Fits one body with medium sized lens attached on the camera compartment and internal space is large enough to fit misc stuffs including a tripod folded up to 40cm long.

its up to the discretion of technical photo...that is if it is a local set and not grey import.
so if they think its from mis-handling, then its not covered.
so yea, have to bring it to them.

i'm guessing ur bag doesnt have the technical photo distro sticker on it?
they're the official distro for lowepro - http://www.techphotosystem.com/

if urs is a grey set, then guess u need to ask the shop u bought it from as i dont think technical photo will touch grey sets.

Got it from Cathay Photo @ Singapore, after conversion (directly through bank) is RM372. If you want you can get from either Shashinki (original) or try contact the distributor (V Photo) to see where you can get an original one.

I just bought one from mauinsons, last unit from his supplier (dun know is distro or no). Wanted to go Cathay Photo Singapore too but really dun have the time so just buy at RM520, including delivery to my doorstep. blush.gif Going to take out the camera insert and use it as my daily office bag.

High end bag is always cheaper in Singapore, and some time can get an almost new condition used bag at less than half the price here in Malaysia. Got my used but as good as new Thinktank Photo Urban Disguise 50 V2.0 for only SGD200, with the tripod attachment and shoulder harness V2.0. But the bag is kinda too big for my daily use, so keep it for oversea business trip.

If you really like it, just get it from mauinsons. If really Cathay Photo do ship internationally (which i dun think so coz there is an authorised local distro here in Malaysia), the cost of shipping plus tax will likely more than the RM150 difference.
