Hey there,I'm SPM school leavers and interested in multimedia design/creative multimedia.

I wonder which college provide better multimedia design course. .
i am not sure which one is better so i need help for choosing them.
i went to edu fairs last week, but I still can't decide.
Of course,TARC will be much cheaper than TOA,but ...

Therefore, i'm asking opinions from everyone and also students who are studying multimedia design which is the better institute..
or is there any other better ones out there. .locally though..

Hi, I don't know if its too late to reply but I'd still like to share, in case there're people who wanna go for Multimedia design..
I'm taking Multimedia design in TARC, sad to say, it sucks.
Yes it is the cheapest of all compared to institute like TOA and such.. and its true when they say "yat fan chin, yat fan fo" (canto)
I'm been through Diploma and currently am in my advanced year.
All through my diploma, all sorta things we learn are pure basic stuff. Basically, they teach u the base, the rest, find out for urself.
The lecturers.. some are good (as in 15%) but some... they really can make u go insane. shocking.gif

Maybe its because or shortage of lecturers.. (tarc don't pay you much, who wanna work)
They simply get lecturers to teach, some are not even master in the subjects they're teaching.. they just start learning after they've been assigned to teach tat certain subject. (a lecturer friend of mine told me) shakehead.gif

Yes, TARC offers LAN subjects but what from I've gone through, those LAN in tarc are slightly different. Its complicated..
To cut it short, I finished my LAN subjects in TARC diploma and I went to KBU for degree, they said I'm missing 2 LAN subjects and I had to retake.
Then i went back to TARC for advanced, I'm still studying English! and we have another LAN subject coming up..which is shocking bcos we tot we've finished those at diploma rclxub.gif

Now in advanced diploma, things are not that good either.
Lecturers teach outrageously different things which is totally unrelated to the subjects we're taking.. and those assignments one of our lecturers made us do, bliv me, they're outrageously ... retarded. And in the end no matter how much effort you put in or don't put in, he gives u and A rclxms.gif

One incident which really pissed me off is, there's one lecturer who din teach a single dang thing, starting from the beginning of the sem till the last. He always cancels class at last minute or arrive 1 hour late and then the class went on for 15 minutes, and then, "class dismiss" .. till the exam period, he sent us an outrageously long notes and asked us to read all without any tips.. how are we supposed to know wat the hell we're reading when he din even teach us a freakin single thing before...and he had the nerve to fail me (and alot of other ppl)! vmad.gif

When you complain to the management, they won't do anything because they're too busy gossiping and drinking coffee.

We have our internship lately and some of the fellow students have diffiiculty having companies to "adopt" them..The reason those companies gave are simple. " We don't take students from TARC, you guys have bad reputations " ... icon_question.gif

Thus, think twice. I'm not tryin to imply bad images of TARC onto ppl, just sharing what I've been through..Good days smile.gif

rclxub.gif but among all the courses, I personally think that multimedia design suits me a lot... I'm interested in graphic design.. animating.. and video editing (yes I did some animations and videos before, even photography.. and now digital art). So, fark I don't know which specific course to choose..............  doh.gif

help man, i'm in a seriously sarking dilemma now vmad.gif

And, another thing which I concern is.. the job opportunities.. I think multimedia design post-graduate students will have more job opportunities because they could do many task instead of (for animators - only animating).. Is this concept right?  sweat.gif And the salary of animator in Malaysia is seriously..  sad.gif

The thing is, which one are u interested in more? Just a heads up. Graphic design, animating and video editing are completely different..

In reply to ur question bout job opportunities, i would say, it depends on ur major, ur ability to work and the quality of ur work lo.. not alot of multimedia design graduates can do everything like u think. hehe. I hv frens who graduated, they bcome 3d artists/animator, some are programmers, i personally major in graphics. Salary wise... malaysia nowadays...aih.. face it. usually degree holders tat just graduated.. around rm1.8k lo.. if lucky can get 2.2k wan..

erm to be honest, i have a sec school friend who is studying at tarc for multimeida design..Seeing all her works she posted up on facebook, i can only say there's a much differennce between what she did and what we did.

but i don think its good to post her works up here.

Hmm..actually, despite me saying so (my previous post), its quite unfair to say the works of all multimedia design student frm tarc are bad. i think it all depends on the individual itself la. Whether or not u hv eyes for details, that is completely personal. smile.gif . Nowadays, i donno if the course there (TARC) are still like back in my days anot but i'm sure they are more advanced now, having so many years of experience. wink.gif

I'm still not...so sure actually, perhaps animator? (But the chance of getting a job for an animator is less than graphic designer right?  ohmy.gif .. That's what I'm worrying about too) cry.gif

Fresh graduate (degree holder) only 1.8k? What about Diploma holder then? Below 1.5k? DAFUQ shocking.gif
the course fees and study fees in LKW are suppperrr expensive ==

And I would like to ask is there any scholarships which are related to art & design field... rarely heard of them  doh.gif  (What I saw the most from newspaper are banking/financial/doctor e.g e.g)

Added on March 19, 2012, 3:37 pmoh and I found a few MVs produced by the TARC college multimedia design student which were really............ doh.gif

Don't know how to describe them la, they're already in year 2 /3

Haha, pretty much around there lo the price. It will grow fast if u're good in wat u do smile.gif
