any one here care to explain and share their experience in owning a car in australia? what are the process do we have to go through in buying a car?

and the driving license. can we somehow convert our malaysian driving license for the australian government to recognize it? or do we have to start from scratch again just to get an australia driving license?
*
Yes, when you hold a aust. visa, you can drive with your license, but that only valid you for 3 months. If you want to drive longer through out your stay, you got to convert your license to an international license which cost RM100 or Rm150 from JPJ - price not confirm- and is only valid for 1yr, not sure is there any longer duration. No need to take any test or what ever, just convert and they will give u a piece of paper looks like rubbish but it's a valid international license. This is as far as I know of, and if you plan to apply for PR, yes you got to take their driving license test. GOod luck!

If you want to buy wind breaker or sweater try all sort of factory outlet store, they are cheap though. I bought myself a winter sweater in Bandung factory outlet, it's dirt cheap. cost only RM150 for Esprit which is going to cost easily RM400-600 a piece at Esprit store... So check it out..

Do u guys think that applying for a 2gb wireless is enough for a month of MSN, video calls, emails, web browsing? not really a heavy downloader... any other options? this is because the place i stay do not have broadband ready. So I think the best is to use wireless, maybe the package from 3 since they have one for phone n broadband cap for 49. Leaving Malaysia tmr...gonna miss the food here...

2gb wireless won't cut it. Not even 10gb, if you decide to do video calls.

I know they wont cut the line, I'm trying to avoid extra pay here... will they listed out how much i have used for that month?

Hes talking about the $49 one i think.

You got me all wrong, lol.

I was saying, if you take the 2gb package, you won't cut it/make it/it will not be enough! Video calls take a LOT of your limit out. But my friend has to get the unlimited plan, since he has a gf who needs to see him, and him, her.

k, let's say i got the same situation like ur fren did... how much is the unlimited plan usually cost him? lols... internet seems to be expensive over thr...

I've check, and I am confuse with all those diff packages. I am looking on wireless broadband instead of fixed line, coz im staying in a student accommodation, and I dun think I can use their fix line to register, and I believe it will be very troublesome when I move out next time. So do wireless broadband come with unlimited package? how i wish streamyx are thr so that I dun need to worry,lols...

I just arrive perth for holiday by airasia x... to be honest, i'm a 6' tall fellar, and it's not comfortable for me, but the seat is slightly bigger than airasia. You need to pay for the in house entertainment. It's RM28 by credit card & RM30 by cash. What else you wanna ask? lols

no need lah. you can have it. but since you are already in australia. your uni will be giving you their university student card. it is valid all over australia. the ISIC is not that special over there. when i was there. only ISIC purchased in australia worked. the one i registered in malaysia was not accepted. so stooopid. dunno if its still like that. and also as an international student we cant even get discount on public transport. well in victoria anyway. which sucks. only locals get the discounts
With that student card, do I still need to bring my passport around? So that just in case police ask for identification, is the student card good enough?? Anyway, I will be studying in melb, I'm now visiting perth since my sister is here. lols...thx anyway
