The Intel® Chipset Device Software installs Windows INF files to the target system. These files outline to the operating system how to configure the Intel® chipset components in order to ensure that the following features function properly:

- Core PCI and ISAPNP Services
- PCIe Support
- IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support
- SATA Storage Support
- USB Support
- Identification of Intel® Chipset Components in the Device Manager

this software runs on ALL Intel chipset-based motherboards.

fyi, every single components that you see in Device Manager has its own unique Hardware ID + Vendor ID. So, there won't be any conflicts.

this software is very safe to use.

this is not a software per se, but a collection of drivers for Intel-related devices on any Intel-based chipsets/boards. The version number is only for the package itself and each individual devices have its own version number.

http://downloadmirror.intel.com/16026/ENG/readme.txt

read point 10: "The version numbers displayed by Device Manager for a given device may not be the same as the Intel® Chipset Device Software version."

My mobo use intel chipset (945GC) but LAN & Sound by realtek..can install this or not?
*
of course can be used ... as long as it's Intel 5 Series/3400 Series/5000/7000/5500/X58 Series Chipsets smile.gif

and it has nothing to do with LAN or sound chipsets

How do i know which version of Intel Chipset Software Utility i have in my PC?? And the installation is very fast, too fast.is it normal?
*
fast = not needed (presumably you've used the previous versions) .... usually, it's a one-time installation .. unless you're using fresh-from-the-oven chipset, you wouldn't need to keep on installing this utility everytime a new version is out wink.gif

no way to know. this software is a collection of device drivers.

intel doesn't document very well on each of them.

here are the release notes and readme from Intel's website:

http://downloadmirror.intel.com/16026/ENG/readme.txt
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/16026/ENG/relnotes.htm

Note: 9.0.0.1008 is the official, published release.

for me, no harm biggrin.gif

you'll notice the isntallation will be very fast, when it's not required. If required, Windows will prompt you with lots of messages.

install this when u do a fresh install of your OS.

it's a one-time deal anyway. Unless u have a very very new mobo with the latest chipsets, try update with the new versions.

can the Dell 104 Multimedia Keyboard driver installed manually from CD? or website download?

i think Intel reset all the drivers that need to be updated.

another method: unplug and plug back the keyboard biggrin.gif see if the detection reinstall the driver back.
