QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Feb 7 2009, 10:02 AM) I guess you are right. In additions :- Thx for the analysis. Makes my holding of LCL less fearful (of company going under).I compute based on latest unaudited reports of LCL as at 30/9/08 and the results as follows :- Sales for 9 months = 349m , almost double of last year, could be good or bad in a declining ecoonmy. Gross up the sales to 12 months = 465m ( estimated ) Amount due from customers for contract works 257m ( as per LCL financial reports from Bursa ) The estimated credit period is 257/465 X365 = 6.7 months. This shows that there is improvement to their collection period. And 6 months in construction line is quite common in Malaysia even for Govt projects ( but their projects are in Arab countries ). Not comparing apple to apple. I also notice KNM's collection period is also close to 6 months ( I Do not accuse that it is bad ). But I have no further info i.e the breakdowns of items appeared in Balance Sheet. Receivables, deposits and prepayments 285m ( another piece of imp info ) And for projects financing for constructions, also quite diff from normal loans, bcos no one just issues more shares to undertake a project. Under capital is also no good. The point is to put LCL under the same roof or to link it to Megan is grossly unfair to many forumers. Remember most forumers do not study the figures. You could be saying something unintentionally that could be taken in wholesome as true. Correct me if I am wrong. Glad if more forumers could provide more facts and figures , rather than based on his or her mere accusations especially if one is involved in giving advices on the trading of shares. http://www.klse.com.my/website/bm/listed_c.../historical.jsp Your statement about "forumers not studying the figures" is quite true, at least, for me as I don't know how to interpret a company's balance sheet. However, in these times of uncertainty, I think the phrase still holds true - "Mana mana share boleh beli for gorenging" QUOTE(viper88 @ Feb 7 2009, 11:24 AM) For those who bought and plan to buy Zelan, here's latest research report from Jupiter. ZELAN is so stubborn, just doesn't want to go near my Q price. Looks like it will be too late next week when the market will supposedly rally further....The research paper date is 6 Feb 2009 not 6 Feb 2008. [attachmentid=792866] Jupiter oso call to buy Lionind yesterday at 0.63 i que at 0.64 but it already chiong up.. Too bad next week Mon is PH, KLSE oso close... if US next week Mon oso up den our KLSE maybe can perform better oso. I bought some LIONIND at 0.665 last week..... for gorenging..... QUOTE(cherroy @ Feb 10 2009, 02:39 PM) I wonder whether Genting result will be ugly or not. With GBP plunged like no tomorrow, don't know how it (its investment in UK/casinos) will impact the Genting financial result, may be this is the reason why it can't move recently. There's an article on Genting's UK operation in "The Edge Magazine (Feb 9 - Feb 15)". Doesn't look good for Genting International Ltd at the moment, in which Genting Bhd owns a 54.4% stake in GIL...... however, they do conclude in the end that its UK operation could be "an ace up GIL's sleeve" when global economy starts to recover.....This post has been edited by kmarc: Feb 10 2009, 03:01 PM |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Feb 10 2009, 03:11 PM) There (UK) got plenty of casinos and gambling channel (football, sport whatever), situation is not like in Malaysia. Just to put in perspective for other forumers, Genting group became the biggest casino operator in UK with 5 casinos in London and 41 provincial casinos after it had paid S$1.6 billion to take over Stanley Leisure (The acquisition of Stanley Leisure in 2006 was said to be ill-timed). However, the group does not have the monopoly in UK, where there are some 140 casinos scattered around the cities and towns..... tomato sauce : The Edge Magazine....Also, gambling culture is indifferent from Asian, Asian people are more addicted to gambling compared to there. So casinos at there might not that profitable, but in Malaysia and Asian countries, casino business is matter how much they can make only. |

QUOTE(AdamG1981 @ Feb 11 2009, 11:02 AM) Sometimes its best to cut loss so you can free up capital and buy something else that might able to earn back your profits. I know..... hanging on to a counter hoping that it will recover might not be a good idea...... I think I'm too noob in stocks to cut my losses..... haven't cut any losses as yet as I'm not willing to let go.......Anyway, I'm not holding much of LCL @ 0.62 ABP so I think I'll keep it for long term investment...... might be thinking of averaging down further if it hits 0.40...... |

QUOTE(jasontoh @ Feb 11 2009, 11:15 AM) You need to ask yourself....the counter u bought for speculative or for long term prospect? All my stocks was initially for long-term investment. Then came the news that the market might create a new bottom in Q1/Q2 '09. So I change my strategy to "gorenging". Wanted to unload most of my stocks in Q1 when there is a rally but backfired as the rally was too short.YTLPOWER...... As of now, I'm trying to unload any stocks that I can if the prices goes above the ABP. If not, then it becomes long-term investment counter.... |

QUOTE(jasontoh @ Feb 11 2009, 11:21 AM) Then you buy too late. By the time news out, the price usually go up already. You will be the victim by those speculators No la, I only entered the market in Nov 2008 so it was not that bad for me....... Realized profit about 5% but unrealized paper loss about 10-15%...... |
