I'm consider to buy a Bicycle accessories 32LED lights blazing wheels Hot Wheels Monkey bicycle wheel lamp lights from Taobao, but i'm not sure this site is reliable? The price is really cheap and resonable. I can't handle it.

taobao don't ship direct to KL. problematic and require some middleman which will charge a fee.

QUOTE(H2D @ Jan 8 2012, 01:46 AM)
funny eh, most of the khs bike sold in this region u can't find any infos online n nothing on the khs website.....
*
manufacturer sometimes makes region specific bikes or name them differently for a particular country and don't put it on their site as it is not sold internationally.

gin huat is the distributor for KHS i believe. just not sure if they bring in the KHS folding bikes.

thanks, got your PM.

it's available on ebay too the item i was looking for but shipping on ebay is even worst especially when they are in the US or euro regions.

i agree with you that it is a 50/50 thing. but taobao does have a lot of funky items for sale.

The shop has some brake pads but it looks unbranded and is not cheap. So I decided to skip.

I saw there are shimano brake pads online. Wonder where to get it in PJ areas. or do you have any recommendations?
*
are your brakes running complete pads or a separated brake pad with a brake holder? if it is a one piece, you can consider changing it to those holder with slot in types...no performance difference, jus cheaper to replace the pad inserts alone in the long run...

your vbrakes can ask mtbers , they know better...but i used to use koolstop pads or even the ones made by lizzard skins as they made all weather pads that supposedly work better in the rain...

for your front dual pivot calipers, you can find road pads from jagwire, swisstop, zipp if you dun find the latter 2 expensive... shimano you can give rodalink a try...

for pads you have to balance between a pad that gives good braking performance and rim wear as it often goes opposite directions...

I didn't look closeup at the pads yet, will check it later.

I wonder whether can i upgrade my rear vbrake to
SRAM Apex Brakeset
http://www.sram.com/sram/road/products/sram-apex-brakeset

If can, why can't both front and back use the same brakes (i was told cannot)...  unsure.gif
*
go and check first...

this is the brake pad, single piece type
user posted image

this are the holder - insert type
user posted image

v brakes use brake post on both sides of your fork or seat stays while standard single or dual pivot calipers uses the 1 single mounting hole at the center...

user posted image
user posted image

maybe due to the length of the fork and the position of the brake posts.. they could not fit it to the short fork of a foldie...just speculating...

don't see the reason to change to a apex dual pivot caliper... it reduces braking power even if it can be installed... v-brakes are best used with v-brake lever... i know that v-brake levers does not work that well with cantilevers, but have never tried it with dual pivot calipers...

looking at your current different brakes on both ends.. it's better to just stick with what you have...

Here are how my Promax brakes look like:

Brake pad is single piece type.

Somehow I feel stopping is more responsive after upgrading the brake lever. Pressing is more smooth now, cause I was told it has spring thingi inside
*
did you change the cables as well? could have been why it is smoother... the ilink is actually a rubber boot to protect your frame in case your cable housing rubs against the frame and wears off paint

you can get the jagwire housings at gh speedbike, jagwire ones and the pad inserts elsewhere... but you can wait a bit and see if the braking improves progressively after wearing the pad out a bit...

Met up with AhPek Bikers and his friends. We rode from Royal Selangor Club (Bukit Kiara) -> Kiara Hills -> TTDI -> 1U -> Bukit Utama -> Sprint Highway -> Uptown -> TTDI -> Kiara Hills -> RSC (BK)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

It was an exciting ride for me. The hills are tough. The downhill is fast. I managed to clock 48km down and I feel the bike is stable. I didn't know there are such shortcuts via bikes.

Definitely will go for more such rides...
*
kiara is quite a toughie... and that bukit utama one is a killer if done in reverse direction of what you did...

any bikes are stable at speeds unless you have a wobbly wheel or you hit something like a rock in the middle of the road... foldies in particular are very susceptible to speed wobbles if you hit things in the wrong way with the front wheels due to the wheel size...

After using this for a few rides, I've noticed there is a disadvantage about this lever.

The coating on it is pretty smooth. Can be quite slippery and fingers may not grip properly when hands are sweaty
*
however smooth it is.. it should not be a problem as your fingers don't slide around the lever...

have you tried messing with the reach adjustment and bring it closer to the handlebar???

user posted image

it should be close enough that it doesn't obstruct your hands and far enough that your index and middle fingers can rest on it comfortably and not needing to stretch out too much trying to grab the levers...

last option is brake lever grips... but those just feel awkward... used to see them get made by lizardskins... but now not sure...

I also checked out XDS, Chevrolet and a few local brands. Really not worth it! Imagine paying RM850 for a XDS 260 and another RM300 will get you a really good Dahon. Furthermore those Taman bicycle shops, you cannot test ride. KHS is also nice  thumbup.gif
you're right... those brands sometimes makes bike that appeals by specing them with equipment that similarly priced known brands don't... but the equipment is of lower grade and risk reliability...

get the better brands if you can afford it or wait later and save up more.. rushing into it might get you into some regrets...

QUOTE(hsienhsien @ Nov 25 2012, 08:38 PM)
thanks for the suggestion guys, dahon is good brand but kinda out of budget sad.gif
what about these 2 guys , http://www.manygoodstuff.com/index.php?rou...t&product_id=71 &
http://bolujie.cl/
kalaq and bolujie, they look really stylish and cool, but the performance not sure >< really addicted by their outlook.
save up a bit more and then buy it then...

QUOTE(H2D @ Nov 25 2012, 09:07 PM)
bro, if budget right n u like , just buy it...
but those from sg u can't view the bike? or u wana go sg buy......
*
travel costs aside... you risk losing the support after bringing it back... things like derailleur hanger and some critical part might not be available in malaysia if it is not brought... just in case you break them.. you have to think of that...

350SGD is not actually very cheap isn't it...

it's not good for the lever to be too far away because it will be hard to reach if you need to grab the brakes in case of emergency...

thanks...i don't own one... just asking for a friend who owns one and the freehub konked out..

taobao might be a choice... he got offered a carbon 20" from control tech.. i think taken out from a limited edition dahon...

QUOTE(etigge @ Dec 20 2012, 12:05 AM)
Dahon don't sell the hubs or the rims by itself. It has been argued by a lot of Dahonese in forums but they are still not selling it separate. The whole wheelsets are available though. Here you can check it here. I think the cheaper ones costing USD69.00 are usable but I think the USD99.00 is more suitable or go for the best Kinetix Pro for USD199. They ship worldwide so it's still cheaper to buy online.

http://www.bicyclehero.com/us/bicycle-part...anufacturer=129

Or you can visit Mr.Lee of GW Cycles in Kota Kemuning. He stocks them but really expensive. The cheapest set is RM600, some rims from China, I think. He also stock a few sets of Kinetix Pro but he is selling it for RM1600.00  shocking.gif
*
but are the hubs same as the normal road and MTB hubs using 130mm spacing? i know the front is an odd 70+mm wide one which normal hubs won't fit...

GW cycles boutique right? the one that sells a lot of japanese used bikes
