Just tried cycling in the night as I only reach home late.

And just to get a feel of things, I rode my bike along some main roads (Jln Bangsar) .. and a highway, (NPE). My thoughts are that its quite scary to be cycling slowly while vehicles are speeding past you.

The only time, I felt safe was when there is a traffic jam and I just whizz past the cars.

Furthermore I think the bike lane along the Federal Highway is too dangerous for cyclists to use at night.

Since it was so long since I last had a long bike ride, I wanted to see if I could still ride a bike long distance. Although I am almost in my retirement years, I still want to keep fit. In my teens we rode all over PJ, even to Ulu Kanching, those days with heavy bicycles.

So just parked my car near Asia Jaya and unfolded my bike. Rode on towards Jalan Universiti, faced heavy traffic all along the way until I reached Uni Malaya. It was so pleasant to ride among trees and almost empty roads within the Uni. Could see people playing in the field, a few jogging, nice...

Now I am exiting Uni malaya, but not before a long fast ride downhill... woo enjoyed that speed, was fun testing my brakes too.

Now going into Jalan Pantai and then on to Jalan Bangsar. Heavy traffic jam until the overhead bridge going into Angkasapuri.. After that no more jam, so the cars were speeding, I kept very close to the sides. takut onli. Most times, if I could ride on the pedestrian pavement, I did.

Went into Jalan Travers to go towards Brickfields area to head on to KL. Safer this way than to try to pass the area just outside the Museum where the MRT works were going on and the road was so narrow, hardly space for people to walk through.

Now along Jalan Tun sambanthan, yes, I was on the wrong side of road, riding on the pavement. Seems like I prefer to be able to see the cars coming at me rather than passing me from the back, I still haven't got my mirror yet.

Almost reaching KL centre, quite an empty road, jln tun sambanthan

What I like the best, a traffic jam in heart of KL. I just squeeze through.

Finally wanted to get dinner so went to Loa yau kee porridge, just outside Soong Kee Beef ball noodles shop.

After dinner, was riding around town, just enjoying the scenery. A bit late now.
Just outside the Majestic hotel, ( sorry out of focus)

Now decide to go back by LRT as I had to pick up someone in PJ by 9pm, and I was still in KL at about 8:15pm. Don't think I can make it. So decided to go back by LRT. Now at Pasar Seni LRT. A lot of people passed by, watching me fold and use the cover. Since the bike was new and learning to fold it was still a learning curve for me, I was fumbling here and there and took some time to get it done. A lot of people walked by and stared at the folded bike...

user posted image

Folded the bike and covered it, and put it on a trolley which I had carried on the rack of my bike . At 12 to 13 kg, its a bit too heavy for me to carry. Now on LRT train heading back to PJ. No one stopped me going into the station. Went up the escalators easily. Nice.

user posted image

Once I reached the station, had some difficulty to push the trolly with my bike and a security guy was watching me intently.. but since it was a big black "bag" on a trolley, he did not bother me.

I don't know if you are commuting or leisure riding but if it is leisure riding, you can ride in Putrajaya. It's safer there. If there's still daylight, cycle around the lakeside and if it is dark, cycle along the main throughfares.

Yup, thanks for the tip. I do intend to ride there when its a free weekend for me. Most of the time, I have to chauffeur family around...

I bought it at RM1.3k with some freebies like helmet, better grip with end bar (better than the stock) bottle and holder (by the way, these 2 are very cheap and the bottle is kind of low quality),  from a seller in sungai chua. Maybe not the cheapest in the market, but not too bad as he delivered to me too..

Volcano inspire is a Very nice bike, even the color of the tyres match up with the frame, cool...

waah lock like that only ah? both wheel use qr loo...

Oh, not so easy to steal as the bike is parked just outside the Midvalley basement escalator entrance, a lot of people walking in and out nearby.
Perhaps the fastest to take would be the seat post and saddle, just release the lock and pull it out. But if take the wheels better, got disc brakes!!

This morning at the LRT, I saw a senior gentleman using a foldable bike getting out of the Masjid Jamek station.

Was very cool, he was just pushing the folded bike on its wheels. No need to use any bag and it was 8:45am.

Once reached the top, he unfolded it and pushed it down the ramp. The wheels are quite small but the bike gets the job done and he gets to reach his destination without paying high car parking and petrol. Just LRT fare only.

On Sunday morning went to FRIM for a bike ride, reached 7am. It was cooling and had a good environment with sounds of birds chirping and the distinct forest sounds. Lots of bikers and even more joggers and hikers..

At the entrance, I was asked by the lady, "basikal kechil?" i said yes, and was charged RM1. So foldables are for kids... eh? thumbup.gif
If big MTB, dunno how much...

Saw a good number of foldables but the mountain bikes outnumber of course. There were plenty of bikes available for rent (mostly MTB and some children bikes, but no foldables)

Later I saw some people riding a tandem foldable (twin riders) and also a parent with a foldable with a baby chair at the back! Cute!.
Unfortunately, did not snap any photo then. next time.

The jungle trails look so inviting that I almost wish I had a MTB to ride.

If I had a MTB, I would just ride slowly in the jungle, with such cool clear water. Very relaxing..

damn crazy bout this bike now ... will do anything to get it

Sometimes I also wonder about the risks of buying things online, especially such a large heavy item. Baggage handlers may throw it around, you may get a defective item, what about warranty?, return to supplier also got to pay delivery charges,.... and so on...

If you can see it, touch it, feel it. And it looks good, don't wait anymore... bite the bullet and just do it... brows.gif

The 1st stage is a flat pleasant kampong road. The only uphill is just at the last 500 meters to the Semenyih junction.
From there, we can gauge if you want to continue or not as you still have to think about the return journey.

As for the sore ass, even me, after so long still have it on some long rides. There are so many factors, wrong position, pushing to hard or just plain unsuitability of the saddle. Some manufacturers says the less conatct with the ass is better, hence smaller and narrower saddles and some says plush and bigger is better. In the end, only your butt knows.  tongue.gif
*
You are so right, in the matters of the butt.

At first, I did not adjust the position of the saddle and just went for a long ride on the new bike.
After a while, I had a painful ass which took some time to go away.

The next time, I carefully checked how I could adjust the position of the saddle and found that I could turn the seat post 180 degrees to turn it around so that the saddle can be positioned as near to the handlebars as possible.
I had to take out the saddle, turn it around and screw it on again as it was facing backwards.

But when I tried a short ride, it just felt so much more comfortable than the almost crouching position of the new bike without adjustment. Now I felt like my weight was more on the "meat" of the butt rather than the two lower bones under my butt, if you get what I mean.

This improved position helped but it did not completely removed the soreness after a long ride.
So I had two options: 1) change the saddle to something more comfortable or 2) buy padded pants.

As the padded pants were not cheap, I decided to look at another saddle and found what is a godsend gift for relieving painful butts, a Royal Gel saddle from MBShop.... Selle Royal brand. This was easily the most valuable buy for my bike and it did not cost too much, surprisingly as it was made in Italy.

Now I could enjoy long rides comfortably.

Heh, heh, Today was a very very wet morning. I had bought a rain coat which is actually some plastic long pants and plastic jacket with a hood. So with the rain not stopping, I just slowly cycled to work... not bad, not bad, I quite like cycling in the rain... its cool but if you start sweating, then the plastic rain wear will be a sauna, so I just take it very very easy and slow...

Would you cycle in the Rain??

quick check with those having a Cateye Micro Wireless(CC-MC200W)

there is no complete off function rite, it auto powers off after 10 mins without signal ...

and do you mount the sensor on top of the fork or below the fork ...
*
You can turn off the main screen with the Menu button, just press and don't let go until the screen goes off.

my cateye is mounted on my handlebar.

the sensor should be within 70 cm from the computer.

As the sensor is designed to be movable within a certain amount, so what I did was to mount it in front of the left fork, so that if the sensor were to be accidentally pushed too close to the spokes, it will just be pushed back out, when the bike moves forwards.

Its a lot of fun to monitor the speed and the average speed.

For example, it took me about 1 hour to ride to work from Paramount, PJ to Masjid Jamek, KL yesterday, roughly about 13.4km, which means its about 13.4 kph average speed.

But after I installed it, I found that I installed it the wrong way from the diagrams.. sad.gif

So its better that you follow the instruction manual...

but in your case did the sensor worked? and the isntruction video from cateye says mount to top of fork, but this i guess depends on how far the sensor will work ...

will install this in the morning ...
*
Yes, it works fine. I think it may not matter which direction the magnet crosses the sensor as long as the magnet crosses it, the sensor will register a "beat" and will count the number of beats based on time and thus calculate the speed. It will also calculate the distance travelled.

however, i found out that the wireless computer is quite affected by handphone. If you put your handphone too near the computer, it will register some reading.... sad.gif
which will cause some inaccurate readings...
