I will give an honest opinion. Mine is a 4 sealed bearing one (Novatec) and it's not not much different. Off course any improvement is critical in competitions but we are not in competitions, are we? Advantage is more to the hubs not getting loose as in cone ball bearings where you need to readjust it. Once the cone ball bearing setup gets a bit loose, the rims tend to wobble slightly. If it is too bad, the rims might rub againts the brake pads and makes pedalling tougher.  tongue.gif

Does ur Novatech hub suit 28h? And more importantly (for me at least), does it make the 'tick tick tick' sound? I had goose bumps when I heard that sound on expensive bikes and ever since that, I've swoon (with great dignity I might add) over such bikes.

Last week bought some second hand Schwalbe Big Apples 20 x 2.00 tyres.  Have put some mileage on the tires around my area, which does not always have good roads.

The tires actually do a good job in absorbing much of the uneven roads and bumps and potholes.  So much so, the ride is now more enjoyable.

The thing to note is that the acceleration power is not as before with the schwalbe kojaks ( the kojaks if pumped up with high pressure - very fast).  But with more comfort, I don't mind.  Takes just a bit more effort to pedal, and you get to enjoy the scenery in a more relaxing way.  I will try to pump in more air to get the air pressure higher and see if this will help a bit or not.

With the Big apples, I can now ride slowly in the forest trails around Bukit Kiara and FRIM, but only if there are no excessive obstacles such as loose rocks or big branches lying across the trails.

One more good trail to go to is the Kemensah falls.
The entrance is just next to the Zoo Negara, and if I park my car some near the Zoo, then can just cycle up the decent road to explore all the way up the streams to the falls.  There are some rest houses along the way for some holiday makers who want some back to nature time..

Can we use normal petrol station air pump to pump our bicycle tyre?
*
Yes if ur tyre uses schrader valve but u need adaptor for presta valve. Big Apple uses Schrader while Kojak uses Presta. Dunno abt others. I alwiz use the pump at the petrol station near my house.

The air pumps there may not always register the accurate pressure, that's what I found out.  Once I almost blew my car tyres with about 32 psi setting but actual was like about 60.!  Of course not all petrol stations are like that.  But now when I pump the car tyres at petrol stations I use a tyre pressure gauge to monitor the final tyre pressures.
It is not always what it seems.

For my bike, I bought a pump with a air pressure display window, basically a foot pump that costs RM55.  I also have a small mini hand pump, which costs even more, but that one will slowly build my arm muscles like The Hulk...
The pump can both use the schrader and presta valves.

Not entirely.

Before the Dahon family split, there were issues about getting parts and replacement frames (recalls and warranty) out. You get better stuff with Tern now, but unfortunately, Josh, the brains behind Tern bicycles had no intention to build an offroad folding bike.

Dahon (Just regained their rights to use this trademark) has some issues with quality. You just don't get all the good stuff that comes with the bikes like before (I'd say the "Golden age" for Dahon bikes was from the mid 90s - 2011) where quality components are used. Today's Dahon are a far cry when what they used to be.

To answer your question about a mini-Velo, nope, Dahon doesn't produce them. You would have better luck with companies like Tyrell from Japan where a mini bike would set you off by RM8K at the minimum..

Wow, so nice!  Bike lanes ... to be shared with cars.
Can we see this in Selangor as well?  Just a distant pipe dream i guess, as we have millions of cars in Klang valley, no way lah, i think.

Yup, thx to efforts from G-Club and other bike clubs in Penang. They hv annual CFAL (Cycling For A Lane) rides to bring more awareness for cycling. When visiting Heritage Sites, you can see lotsa cyclists. Some even renting bikes as rental prices is pretty low (from RM10/day-Chin Leong, Armenian St). It also helps that certain places have no car zone on specific days.

I'm using dis saddle.. Without padded shorts, can cycle 20+kms without soreness. So far even in 6hr rides (got break in between), butt feels alright. I've bought saddle from Specialized during MTB days but still hv slight sore. Dats after they took measurements of my butt too.

Yup.. Even the reviews on d net were deceiving. I based my decision on Net reviews and some of my road bike frens recommendation. They use these saddle in competition and swears by it. I concluded that riding style, types of ride and individual body are d deciding factors of d comfort level for each rider. Since most of us use foldies for leisure, at least the 1st 2 criterion are the same..

I agree. Very disappointed with how Dr Hon appears now. Tern is so much classier. However, Dahon folds still smaller than Tern.
