did mine on cydia and picked up signal immediately after following the simple steps on iclarified.
no problem so far and im on digi btw

upgraded mine to 0.9.6.....excellent and very very easy.

upgrade 0.9.6 in cydia

power off power on

walla....MAXIS


no need boss pref
no need terminal
no need toggle airplane mode
no need sim take out

erm....where did you guys purchase your iPhone 3G? I'm currently asking my sis to get me 1 from US!
can i use US iPhone 3G at Malaysia? the frequency is same? I'm using DiGi~

Yes, dont worry. Everything will work. The unlock will work with the US iPhone 3G.

Now its much easier and stable to unlock using yellowsn0w 0.9.6

i just help my friend unlock his 3g with the latest 0.9.6. easy as 1 2 3.

i think they add in a feature which is toggle-ing the airplane mode by itself when power on. coz i can see the airplane icon show up for a short while when the phone just power up.

Go visit the thread 'Garage Sales'...There are a few ppl selling new and used iphone 3g, OFFICIALLY UNLOCKED ones (no need to yellowsn0w the phone), some more. Most units come from Singtel, Spore. Average price is RM2850 for the 16gb and RM2550 for the 8gb.

Or go to Low Yat Plaza, but the prices there are a bit higher than the ones sold in LYN 'Garage Sales'.

I finally took the plunge.

It seems that the only thing missing now is SIM pin support. I don't use pin. So...

Unlocked my iPhone 3G 8GB (US set) without any problems whatsoever with maxis Hotlink.

my friend's unit(UK) had already disable the SIM pin option b4 unlock. and the 3G service is working no problem....

I can confidently vouch now for the effectiveness of the yellowsn0w 0.9.6 beta version to unlock the iphone 3g with the sim lock option disabled.

My iphone is completely stable now.

Now when will the i Dev Team release yellowsn0w 1.0.0?

I am back in the USA. And my journey home, I was able to roam in Singapore with maxis. And right now in USA, my AT&T sim card (not iphone contract) also works with the latest yellowsnow.

I never had any drop signals from Malaysia till USA.

my wife's O2 iphone, after unlocked using maxis in msia, after brining it back, her 3G aint usable (O2 sim)
told her to remove yellowsnow but still no cellular data network, the 3G logo is there though, just tat kenot pakai

rx330 how about restoring the whole phone without yellowsn0w? i am tempted to get iphone 3G from o2 PAYG and unlock it to use in Msia since i will be frequently travel between London and KL.

Might get one and test yellowsn0w...

well, once she access the internet, a prompt will say she is not registered for cellular data network, she is busy these few days, hence she haven call up O2 for a solution, my guess is just that she needs to key in the apn settings for password, shudnt have anything to do with yellowsn0w

the PAYG is cheaper now, and with the current rate, its worth it, i think she bought at 399 X 6.3 rate

If thing goes well, imagine bringing back iphone from UK with current conversion rate <rm2k for 8gb? lol.
