regarding the DIY fix, it says

"Use the plectrum, open the top cover/lid starting from the camera button."

user posted image

"plectrum"...does it mean the guitar pick?
*
yup, plectrum is the guitar pick. maybe people that play guitar know this word better..biggrin.gif

like leongtat said, it would connect you to the internet and update from the weather forecast station. therefore there is a 3G/GPRS charges for updating the weather data. (you may use wifi as alternative tho)
*
if we turn on the weather feature with 3g on, then what data charges will we get? expensive or not?

Ya, you're right. The IR sensor should be soldered straight to the PCB. It is a surface mount type. If that is the case, we can always desolder the sensor and remove it. Then depending whether it is ACTIVE HIGH or ACTIVE LOW, we can just short it to ground or use sensor power supply (usually 3.3V or lower) to short it. That way the screen will always be ON.

But thats something everyone can do especially if you don't have the right tools. Home solder-irons won't work here. Specialized equipment is required and they are not easy to come by unless you work for an electronic R&D company.
*
That way the screen will always be on until the power saver time out right?

Phone repair shops has this kind of equipment right?

Yes, it'll be on until power saver time when you are making a call. Also there's a possibility your face accidentally activate something (when it touches the screen).

It depends. A Hakko solder station with fine tip costs RM500-800 (depending on model) and this is a SMD. So you need SMD removing equipment. A Hakko branded one will be above RM1000 (depending on model and capacity). A full equipped service center should have it. But I have yet to see a AP service center yet, so I can't tell.
*
u're very knowledgeable in electronics.. fyi i've never been to an AP service centre too.. not sure what equipment they have there.

any recommendations for a way to make the prox sensor better in function?

Found this on ebay. Its a rubber case cover for our tube.... here is the link..... Rubber Case Cover

dunno good or not....
*
very nice silicone casing but it makes your phone look dull and it will attract dust and it will be loose in time

well...i prefer using the given case that come with the box.
I think it's good and solid enough.
*
but this case is hard to use...if got call, hard to take it out of the casing that fast.. maybe you will have more miss calls, because u won't be able to take the phone out of the casing in time.

something happen today which was weird.. I was the lucky one because my 5800 did not have the ear piece problem..but i think i have some kind of firmware bug..

Today as usual i was receiving calls via my 5800..by the way i was in my car using the stereo headphones..to answer calls.. cos i havent got my bluetooth set yet. Anyways... suddenly phone goes berserk.. the phone start making noises like it goes haywire..like a sound like spoil robot.. u know..kinda like random digital noises..very loud indeed..me and my soon just look at each other and basically said WTF?????

it was damn weird.. i cant stop the sound either except opening the battery cover and removing the battery...

Yesterday also while my son was playing bounce the phone hang!!!

Anyone had a similar experiences..?  hmm.gif
