It seem you are quite familiar with Bangkok Tailor. Mind recommend Bangkok tailor for me. I'm planning to get a Dark Navy Casual Suit and 1 pant (possible 2). Casual mean the suit can go for formal and as well with Jean. I'm allocating budget of RM500 to RM600. Is the amount reasonable or do i need to up my budget? This is my first tailor made suit and really need guidance on this matter. I see many information on the internet but lack of guidance in term of material, style, pocket, button and any other things i need to take know. Appreciate assistance and thanks in advance.
Note: I like the KOTMJ latest picture suit but i believe it definitely going to cost me a boom. At the moment, i'm tight on budget and i hope one day i could own one as well.
I had my suit done by KOTMJ. Those in the pictures are most likely his premium product.Note: I like the KOTMJ latest picture suit but i believe it definitely going to cost me a boom. At the moment, i'm tight on budget and i hope one day i could own one as well.
The pricing of the product can be found here:
Brochure
In summary:
Fully canvassed suit: from RM 3,300
- In my opinion, I should have gone for this option. Considering the fact that the price difference is only about RM 800.
- If I am not mistaken, the floor price, you will be going for house fabric or non-premium type of linen.
Fused Suit: from RM 2,500
- I went for this option.
- basic fabric.
- the measurement and drafting is done in-house BUT the assembly is done by another tailor i.e. outsourced.
Other information:
- Fused suit do not have buttonhole on suit sleeve.
Shirt: RM 350
- there are conditions for ordering the Shirt, please refer to brochure.
Other services:
- Initialing Rm 25 per word. (not very satisfied with this.)
Well having done my suit with Ah Lok and KOTMJ. I think for Ah Lok, I think a bit of research and a fair understanding of tailoring of suits is required. Otherwise, he will just tailor "as he thinks fit". End result, you will feel a bit stiff i.e. when you sit down or when you are in your natural posture because the Ah Lok doesn't factor such consideration in his tailoring. His alright, the basic is done right and the price is reasonable, just that you may need to point out your preference.
KOTMJ on the other hand, a bit pricey compared to Ah Lok but overall, the customer experience is much more superior. The measurement phase is quite intensive, you be standing, sitting, stretching your hands, standing natural posture etc... feels like a workout! Also, he will ask you the type of collar, french cuff or plain buttons, belt option or adjusters.
Lastly, with any tailor, I highly recommend that you triple check the deliverable especially the stitching and buttonholes.
