Jeremy Tok starts at 1.6k iirc, and I think a couple hundred you can get a full canvassed.

So I'm sure there are a few more others that offers at that range as well.

Hey bro How's Jeremy's work?

I've set an appt with him
*
I never took any picture of the two pieces I done with him, so I can't show off here biggrin.gif .. zhou86 and shauno had pieces done from him, they might have some pictures. Of course, his tumblr showcases a few items as well: http://jeremytok.tumblr.com/

He is detailed and fussy about his work, which I liked because I have seen him just redo a part because he felt there was a small part that didn't sit right. Secondly, he is very open to ideas and suggestions but is not 'kedekut' in sharing what he knows. Finally, he doesn't do hard sell and is pretty transparent in his dealings, which I always appreciate.

My first piece with him, I had zero idea what I wanted, he guided me and explained to me the differences between all the options available and the reasoning behind certain choices.. so for my second, I had a much better clue about what i had in mind.. what are you going for?

p/s: hmm.. maybe I should take some pictures tongue.gif

Wow will JT replace ALT as the forum favorite tailor? Sure looks like it.

I want a ALT piece, but once I'm comfortable that I at least know have of what fits me. His cutting can be a bit erm... dated?

Tailors of AL's age are usually not that receptive to personalized demands and tend to deliver their house cut. It worked out fine for me as I prefer a more classic (not dated) cut.
*
Yep, but he does give in slightly, though I agree it's pointless if I go to him and ask him to do something that is completely out of his philosophy.

Anyone here has experience getting a suit tailored in Vietnam, Hoi An specifically? smile.gif
*
I think the experience is probably the same as Bangkok, it was part of my plan later this year.

Probably can afford to be more adventurous with the choice of cloth and design since it's cheap. From what I remember, they are pretty good at copy work so do bring along one of your current pieces that fits you great and just ask them to copy it as close as possible.

It can be altered, but if you are intending and is able to lose that 5-8kg, you are better off doing it later.

Say if u buy a shirt off the rack, can you get a tailor to alter it to fit you perfectly?
*
Only certain parts. If you are buying shirts of the rack for altering, try to get your shoulders and cuff lengths perfect, the others are easier to alter compared to this both.

any one can recommend good tailor in KL/Bangsar/hartamas area ? my usual tailor getting greedy now (skill good but prices hmmmmm)  ...
*
What is the price point you are looking for? That might help narrow it down.

QUOTE(bonedragon @ Jul 17 2016, 04:47 PM)
Anybody knows a tailor that can shorten the sleeve length for a suit jacket that has working cuffs? Shorten from the shoulder I suppose? Thanks.
*
Most tailors would be able to to do this iinm ...

QUOTE(FireSocial @ Jul 18 2016, 01:21 PM)
Hey, any update on this? I'd be curious to know how it turned out and what the price point was as half or fully canvassed suits are a rarity normally.
*
Isn't most tailored suits gets half or fully canvassed? Or I blur sotong?

My suit prices range 2.5-4k (100% wool), but my tailor quote me for 6.8k for my new suit, i think a bit too much already, this proberly will be my last suit from him ..... (show u guy when collecting it this friday) ...
*
At that price range, would people like Jeremy Tok, Bespoke or Ah Loke and the other usual suspects would fit yours no? The last chat I had with JT, I think his H&S was around 6k, my starter kit back then was around 1.6k ..

I've heard there are also some good traveling tailors coming over to KL some times. My friends got a few from Bangkok, Pinkies or Tailor On Ten are pretty decent I believe and are coming over quite regularly.
*
A review on ToT please. One of the rare 'proper' tailors in Bangkok so it would be interesting to see their work.

we too comfort with them already .. I not fancy of big name, just wool n decent skill can do me already ....
Good good, can intro ? i dont mind to own my first pinstripes ...... hahaha
*
They'll be happy to be thought of as big names hahaha...

Only ToT is a proper bespoke from the list, the rest are generally those with 1-2 days turnaround which leads me to suspect they are more RTW or fused suits heavy rather than mtm...

Just curious, are the people at ToT nice?

Might be swinging around for a new pair, but I am a little fickle minded type so I prefer to spend my time to check out most details, if possible.

They look premium so i assume long turnover time?  blush.gif
*
They are not your usual turnaround specialist, so it is hard to say. Do walk in and have a chat, I have heard good things about them but am not sure in terms no how fast.

Obviously you would know the more time they have the better, but no harm to just walk in for a chat. Don't compare them to the usual 24hr tailor pricing though.

hi guys,
need help urgently. i have to make a suit for a wedding. How much should i budget? will probably wear it only once or twice, so i don't want to spend a lot.
*
Tailor is around rm800-2000 depending on factors.

If cheaper, buy something cheap from H&M, Zara, etc and alter it.

Good sir, what would the budget be for altering?
My jacket needs to be altered on the sleeves and the drops..
My pants needs to be altered on the length.

Also, where do you recommend?
*
Sorry, the last tailor I went was Jeremy Tok, and I have no idea how much he charge to do those.

I assume minor alterations would be somewhere around RM80-RM150?

For alterations, I think any tailor would do a decent job, since its not really tempering with the construction of the entire piece.
