its easy to say lab based and research work.. that was the reason im fooled into taking biotech thinking there are jobs out there in malaysia... please give some examples so that ppl can really be sure..one of my probs after i graduate was, where the hell do i find those jobs?? cant really find any in jobstreet and usually they only want sales... Example that i can give is of course lecturer in any universitiesa but it will take up alot of years meaning ppl start working and marry and u still studying..then most research jobs ppl say are done in universities with little real research in private companies altho there are but few and im working in one of them...but it is still difficult to hunt for job if you do not have contacts or not much knowledge in this field

Indeed. Both will enter government service in the same manner.
But, graduate entry medical officers can have additional extension to their qualifications (if they wish), see below:

Dr. XYZ
BSc.Biomed, MBBS (Bangalore), MRCP (UK)

usually

Dr. ABC
MBBS (Malaya), MRCP (UK)

but thats not really important. The above is just for showing off.  laugh.gif

One thg i wanna ask is bout the salary range. i noe tht working in these kind of filed requires interest more than  bout going for the money. but one shud also know whether these jobs will be able to sustain ur living cost n all. So i was just wondering how much would i be roughly paid? smile.gif
*
of course can sustain your living..even a bus driver can sustain living..depends on how much u spend...

ABout that, not entirely true. Many lecturers in universities are immersed in the world of research and research is a never ending job. Most probably some of them even have to work longer than the daily 9 to 5 time period. Certain experiments require longer time to have their results observed smile.gif

i have a different opinion on that...while lecturers might have to work longer hours but it is not due to research..they might work longer due to night classes or some other stuff.. for those research, they r carried out by the masters/phd students so the ones working late r the masters/phd student.. lecturers only supervise or consult them regarding their research..

but when there's semester break, lecturers still need to work..no holiday but their work is other than teaching.. unless u r teacher then student holiday u oso holiday

yup i mean i agree lecturers are involved in research..this is a fact cuz without them how the master/phd students get supervised..but they r not the ones hands on doing the experiments hence no need to stay up late due to the research..

Yeah i dont think its advisable.. tell you a comment my boss made.. i worked in bio related industry..

once when we had an interview to recruit people, there was an applicant who got masters from diploma in 4 years... my boss straight away give negative comments about the applicant.. the applicant jump from diploma to degree in3 yrs and added an extra year then got a masters through some private uni arangement.. he said that how can u trust a 1 yr master.. ppl take at least 2 yrs for masters... research field requires experience and nobody gonna trust a shallow experience masters or phd
