My latest haul from Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. Prada Spring Summer 2011 Espadrille Runway shoes. I use the term 'Runway' because when the shoes were sold officially in store it didn't came with the higher sole as seen on the 2011 Spring Summer runway. The higher soles were known to be the test market pieces that were only sold to a handful of people who attended the fashion show, or people who had relations with Prada and some were distributed earlier in Italy and Japan.

The left pair is the commercial version and was sold in all the stores across the world. Which I bought earlier in April this year in Melbourne, Australia. Many buyers were not happy that Prada did not offer the higher sole as seen on the runway, so the current season of Fall Winter has a higher sole, but not the same bottom piece as jaggy and raw as the earlier version. These shoes are surprisingly popular and were all SOLD OUT

when Spring Summer commenced. Most orders fell through to Fall Winter, so Prada decided to keep the design and sell it till today. I also pre-ordered another two FW2011 espadrilles brogue since 4 months ago and they are still not here yet...
The first time when I saw these shoes, I think they were really really ugly and weird. But then after seeing them in person, it sort of struct me thinking how wrong it was that Prada married a brogue with a espadrille and a sneaker sole. I couldn't get it out of my mind so I decided to try it myself. And then I started to like them for some reasons, they are so wrong but yet so unique. So now I love the shoes I initially thought was the world's ugliest.
Also you might notice in this year, many mens shoes comes with espadrilles, thick white soles, juted sole or whatever you call it, all as seen from Fall Winter 2011 Burberry, Comme des Garçons, Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce&Gabbana, Loake, Topman, Zara and the list goes on and on.... These designs of chunky soles and height are all inspired designs from Prada Spring Summer 2011, which was shown in January 2010, almost two years ago. Prada owns Churchs, the brogue is from Churchs Grafton, soles are made by Vibram.
even giorgio armani got them...
