I just bought a set of Jamo S606 and sub 300. Using with Yamaha 663. Now i have a problem for the sub 300. I run the Auto Setup or Manual Setup for "Optimizing the speaker for your listening room (YPAO)", but no matter how i set , the sub 300 not detect and not sound at all. I used the sub woofer cable from Jamo attached.

Do you have any idea why the AV can't detect the sub 300. I have tried to set different the cut off frequency, also can't help. Please icon_question.gif

This is the link of the Jamo sub webpage

I believe that you have connected your sub to pre-out at 663. Switched on sub and cable connected to LFE input of the sub. It sld detect it. Else, you need to call the shop.

Hi Htkaki,

Yes, i use a RCA plug cable to connect from AV (subwoofer pre out 1) and Jamo sub 300 (Line in Left/LFE). But it still can't detect. Please see the pictures from the attachement. I 've followed this to do the connection. Am i do the right way? Or my AV (subwoofer pre out) socket not working?

I assume that you are using single rca plug to connect to sub pre out 1. It sld have work. Or try the other pre out (No. 2) to check it.

Yes, i am using the single RCA plug cable, which is come with the Subwoofer. I also tried to plug into the pre out 2, also not detected. So now i'm not sure which one has problem. is the pre out sockets or sub woofer problem. I have tried that RCA plug cable for simple video output. that is no problem, so which mean that cable is OK.

Any other suggestion? that subwoofer is new one. bought from HN (the curve).

Then either AVR or sub got problem. Sub is rather sensitive. Does this Jamo has any light indicator?

Yes, the light indicator is in the volumn tuner there. If the volumn turn up, the light will be on.

So, even with vol cranked up and light on, no sound? That sounds like AVR pre-out got problem.

switch on the sub volume to 25%. connect the rca to the sub. then touch the rca head of the other end with your finger. your sub should generate some sort of sound. if no means its your sub got prob. if yes means its your avr setting smile.gif

Thanks for your suggestion, i will try it tonite. If the sub got sound, then should be the avr problem. Then what should i do no the AVR?

Did you activate the setting for yr sub feature in the 663? Look in the manual for the 'on' subwoofer function in the amp settings.....

in yamaha 663, there is not option to set the subwoofer to ON or OFF, only can set the LFE/Bass out, Speaker Level and LFE level. Please see the attachment file. And i have test it , touch the RCA head, the sub has some sound come out. Which mean the Sub is OK.

Now i guess the sub cable has problem. Any suggestion?

you had tried to use the single RCA (suplied) with video right? then the cable is ok...other option is, u may connect ur sub from speaker out (avr) to line in on the back of ur sub, then out to speaker thru the line out(for testing purpose only)

Sorry just wanna ask, did you hear the sound from the sub very loud or just little sound during auto setup or manual setup? i have brought the AVR to a HIFI shop. The guy help me to test the AVR subwoofer pre-out socket. That time the AVR can produce the sound to the subwoofer but the sound very soft during Manual setup. The guy told me that may be my sub cable got problem.

Please let me know your, how is the sound for your Sub300 during setup or testing. Thanks.

I have tested it with almost max volumn, the Sub300 finally got little soft sound come out.

Finally, the Sub and AVR working fine. Now the only thing is how to set the sub300 can produce loudly sound. Is the sub cable quality too bad? or the setting got problem? I really want to know how to make the sub produce loudly sound.

All the SIFU, any suggestion or idea?

During manual/auto setup, i have tried few different cut off, i hv tried to set the sub cut off to lowest 40Hz, hight 200Hz, and 80Hz. I use the provided subwoofer cable to connect my AVR and sub. Now i guess it counld be the cable or avr setting problem.

I stay at Kajang, near Sungai Chua there.

i will test it with watching movies with those alots of explosions one. see the sub will produce louder sound or bass or not.

I have another question, if i want to listen song in CD or Mp3, can the sub also produce sound with bass or not, or only the 2 front speakers produce sound. If then how to make the bass / LFE go to subwoofer?

Thanks all the SIFU.

if you have speakers set to large set your sub to yes or plus.otherwise set all speakers too small @ about 100hz C/Over.Now you should hear sub & speakers.Do you have phantom multi-channel surround on av amp?you could try that also! wink.gif
