clevedon, you have 2A*3A in your A Levels, in which all 5 pursued after A2, or a mix with AS? What subjects are those 5?

why london?.....

living cost is 50-100% more than smaller towns......

and the best uk med schools are not actually in london.....

not as simple as that, i can assure you.....london is a BIG city, and travel time from one end to the other end can take 2-3 hrs.......so if your relative lives far from the med school, you are looking a significant long and costly commute daily......

and while the asian way is often to expect free lodging and food, the normal practice there is you still have to pay for accommodation and food to your relative.....even between parents and children!......

in which case, taylor's partnering with St. Georges is ideal, but there is no guarantee you will get to St. Georges, could very well end up in poland or Indonesia as well......

if she is renting, another caveat.....she may not continue to stay there, leases expires, landlords raise rents, wants place back, people change jobs and move nearer to where job is etc........

i don't know how taylor's is doing it, but if based on the same system as imu, no, you are NOT tied to any pms at entry......you are however guaranteed a place if you pass all exams, but the final matching will decide where you eventually go.....

taylors may do it differently, as the only pms worth going to is st. georges, but since st. georges insist on a clear restriction that only people with 3a's at a-levels (or equivalent) can match to them, that automatically disqualify many students (in imu, that would effectively disqualify more than 1/2)..........

what is worrying is, if you browse their website, much of the information about the twinning programmes have been removed, as is the indonesian partner.....there is mention of the czech partner with no details.....it's 4 years after taylors, so i don't think anyone is ever going to want to go there....st. georges wants aaab, not sure why they want 4 subjects, but they only want aussie atar90......no mention about stpm........

i would go sit down with them and get the REAL facts before deciding.........it looks like their pms programme is failing apart......they have only ONE pms people may be interested in....

that is not correct.......

while bbb is the stated minimum qualification for entry, most intakes have cut off's at aab/atar94 or thereabouts......and they really decide based on the phase 1 performance, not pre-u.....

nobody has gone from taylors, i think because they have only taken the first batch 2 years ago, so the first group may be joining year 3 in st. georges in september..........but surely these info should have been made known by the 'counsellors' (aka saleperson) there?...........


When I was there, the first counselor told me there were few heading to St Georges, then later another counselor told me that nobody in the previous batches of MBBS students are heading there, nobody has chosen to go there. I am actually a bit worried. But Taylor's has been around for a long time, its reputation has been good. I hope I am right.

Added on July 9, 2011, 10:32 pmi should add, even their local programme is fraught with a lack of information.....where on earth is their clinical training hospitals?..........and their academic staffs......the list on the website is pathetic.....
