lots of rich people in LYN i can see.. but again, if they r not rich, they wouldn't start this thread anyway, bcos for the rest of us, brands doesnt really matter tongue.gif

anyway, i can't afford luxury brands but i dun mind low-mid-higher end goods if it's really nice. =)

btw, higher end doesn't equal luxury brand to me..

just for your information LV never has sales so that should take 1 brand out of your list

and the next thing is set what u want

leather goods? apparels ? shoes? accessories?

i would recommend gucci or salvatore ferragamo for shoes ..... italians are good at making shoes even LV shoes are made in italy lol

for bags i would recommend LV i can see that my LV bag are more durable and long lasting than my gucci bags...

for suits definately have to be armani heh

anyway i am planning to go klcc tommorow to purchase some burberry shirts tommorow ... gotta lova the checked design but anyway ever since burberry under christian bailey ... he have been trying to stem away from that look ...... now things have changed they are trying to rebrand them with the prorsum knight
-

bear in mind these are just personal opinion from a fashionista

Im actually the type of person who goes for the brand, in other words buying the Brand Name instead of the cloth. However, usually branded stuff got good fashion stuff to choose from. Compare to pasar malam, the difference is huge if you're really an original user, definitely can spot the difference rolleyes.gif

ok la i understand how he wanna brag his expensive stuffs.

who doesnt like to brag? looking at blogs nowadays most of them will feature something bought by the blog owner aka haul of the days or something like tat. what makes this kid stand out(or dreaded? envious? you choose it urself) is bcos all his stuffs are super duper expensive.

but i do think this kid overdoes himself by calling himself high society. Those who are in the league of so called high society wont even label themselves as ones, so i guess this kid is in pathetic state of trying to convince others he is the one. tongue.gif

Currently with a Seiko, but plan to get a Tag and will ultimately end up with an IWC in long future. Wallet is Mont Blanc n so far satisfied with it ..

Casual stuffs i usually go for Zara, Top Man, Gap and Banana Republic, occassionally Pull and Bear, Springfield also ok.

Formal ones still G2000 LOL ! but would love to have a set of Hugo Boss suit.

my favorite brand is SODA for casual. it's affordable and they changed their theme very frequent. most of my clothes is from SODA.
however, for formal wear, i like padini and seed. cheap, slim cut. hehe

only one answer for cheap and quality: marks and spencer.
shoes, clarks.
shirts, marks and spencer, renoma, raoul, padini
jeans, wrangler.
sneakers, adidas, puma, zara, bonia.

those are for cheap, nice design and quality..

sometimes, Tangs Pavilion is selling italian made shoes for 50% off..you can get an italian made shoes for rm250 after discount if you are lucky..but i still prefer bonia, because its cheap, and stylish. i purchase shoes annually, or once in six months..didnt you people get bored of the same old shoes for years?

I would say it is such a disappointment that true sartorial labels such as Kiton, Oxxford, John Lobb, Crockett & Jones, Incotex, Isaia couldn't make its way to our shores. Instead all we are getting here are overpriced Ferragamo Studios(glued junk) and pathetically fused Armani suits. sad.gif

I've discussed this topic with a few girlfriends before

The few things that girls observed are

A nice watch
A pair of nice shoes
Wallet - so so le cause all black colour de unless they take a closer look at it, emblem also pretty small on a wallet
Belt

But most important of all is how you dress, i mean with all those 4 of the above but with poor dressing, you'll kill the atmosphere and the mood..

Hair styling is also very important!

i have all 4 of the above but would love to upgrade my watch some day soon haha currently using a tag heuer carrera chronograph

cheers! life is great

You really should ask yourself how many individual (Really money makers) would want to buy Kiton? Last year the doors to very highly prized suits come in the form of Brioni in KLCC. Before that we were only exposed to Emergildo Zegna. Latest is Canali in Pavilion. Have you looked into how many are buying custom suits in Emergildo Zegna? Do you know the customers are only our local politicians? Brioni is also the same. Our super money spinner businessmen, they all buy off the rack. The local business faces you see gets theirs tailored at many spots like Lords, Spark Manshop, Wardrobe and more.

And whats the point of having set up shop here then they have to close shop after a few years. I really don't know any average joe willing to pay RM10K for a suit. Even the millionaires i know only spends money on cars and property! But he is wearing regular pasar malam clothes. I doubt he even have a suit besides his wedding suit! So whats the market? Brioni KLCC caters to SEA markets btw.

If talking about technical terms, there is this laser fabric cutting machines that is only used by mass suit producers. What i did find is there are only a few such machines in the world and 3 is in Korea. I rate highly suits made in Korea, and they are cheap. Nowdays even big names like Brioni uses such machines with CAD software. It cuts more accurately and less wastage.

Anyway i wouldn't be dissapointed if they never arrive. Times like this, anyone who pays RM10K for a suit is courting trouble.

American dream? hahaha. Look at how many jobs are lost in USA. So much for dreams. It almost seems like America is heading for depression. Paying 10K for a suit is only a short term happines.

I have no specific brand for my cloths. I try it, if i like it, then i buy it.

But i do have a few brands that i would look out for when out shopping. I would go for the mid range price brands.
Puma, Giordano, Lee, Levi's, Camel Active.

Brand that i always envied and wanted is French Connection. The reason being, the short form is too cool to be ignored.

most of them are benchgrade i believe but many of them approach the handgrade levels so they are definitely worth checking out. i will get another pair (maybe monks) next.

heya dont be afraid just have confidence and enter the shop! remember we customer are always right .. some of my stuffs i actually went to scout first before i get them..

anyway i am not sure the price now but it could be cheaper now since recession i noticed that burberry and emporio armani have quite significant price drop

like 1050 burberry shirt became 750 , ea 900-1000 shirts became 700+

i am planning to get a new EA white shirt biggrin.gif soon

anyway u can check them out at http://www.emporioarmani.com/searchResult/.../7/layoutType/3

check out american or UK website then simply convert the currency and just remember that their cost here is around 10%-30% more.. (but could be less now since recession.. )

hmp pricing around MYR800-1200 for wallets .. cheaper for card holders

if i am not mistaken burberry (not included Prosum collections those are hell expensive clothes can cost around 4k-10k+) and EA pricing around the same u can check out for burberry , brand awareness i think burberry have higher awareness for malaysian.. especially the checked designs..(means more well known) but i feel that Armani feels more manly and classy tongue.gif

oh yea reminder if u get wallet dont keep them compressed in tight jeans too long.. or it will spoil.. like my wallet cry.gif

u can also wait for discuss if u want further price drop but burberry they dont have discounts on men accessories tho

Entering a shop is easy, just if you like something ask the price and just look around.

I find the LV Wallets for guys are quite nice as they fold easily with alot in them. Burberry wallets are just as nice but depends on what you want to do. Holds more cards or coins or more cash or paper which seems to be popular nowadays. haha.

AX always seems to hold alot of sales all the time, I'm not wildly sure about it here in Malaysia but in US/Europe there are always alot of sales.

Neimanmarcus.com sometimes has alot of branded stuff that is rarely not on sale but you'll find it has sales once in awhile.

Branded items though:
Leather : LV, Burberry, Gucci, Armani, AX, Emporio Armani, Montblanc, Tumi, Porsche Design etc.

Clothing: Jeans : True Religion, Rock & Republic, Seven for all mankind, taverniti, Diesel
Clothing casual clothes : Affliction, Ed Hardy, Energie
Clothing Suits : Hugo Boss, Carlo Pignatelli, Armani
Clothing business : hugo boss, armani, prada, burberry etc

Hard to find most of them here but easy to find abroad.

for those of you that have bought AlX jeans I wanna know if the waist size will be bigger cause it's an american product....I bought some abercrombies on9 at size 36 and they turned out to be 2 sizes bigger...I know european sizes are a lil bit smaller and american sizes are bigger....so if I'm 34 what size should I buy for a pair of AlX jeans?

My take on brands:

Shirts: G2000, Cerrutti 1880, Springfield, GAP
T Shirt: Junk Food Tee (Mr Men and Lil Miss series), Replay
Jacket/Blazer/Hoodie: G2000, U2, GAP
Sweater: Springfield, G2000
Pants: Dockers, GAP, U2, G2000
Short Pants: Levi's, Polo Sports, Abercrombie&Fitch (mostly from FOS, haha)
Jeans: GAP, Levi's, Replay Blue Jeans
Shoes: Nike (particularly Air Force 1 Pure White), adidas Original Decade Lo or DCD
Boots: Redwing Shoe
Sport Sneakers: Rockport
Cross Terrain Shoes: Merrell
Sandals: Birkenstock Arizona Pure White
Watch: Solvil et Titus CLEBAR (17 Jewels date back 1959), Casio Edifice and Casio G-Shock Gulfman Triple Crown Edition
Messenger Bags: Eastpak College, Jansport, Manhattan Portage Classic New York Messenger, Timbuk2 XXL Ballistic Messenger

I try to avoid all Haute Couture (which I am very successful due to no money, LOL laugh.gif) as they are too "gay"...I'm helplessly homophobic, sorry if I offended any 2alam or gay forummers out there, after all, these are the class of people who are rich, professional and don't mind forking out several grands for a t-back doh.gif

Never really care much about the brand really but i do like to shop at burberry, ralph lauren and lacoste (polo shirt is my fav). In my case, if you can afford it, then get it, if you can't just forget about it coz most probably you can do without it anyway. smile.gif

depend on ur view.. to me i wont spend on tshirt no matter how hi-end it is..

tshirts from UC, visvim.. mostly quite basic look nothin much special design..

but those dress shirts or casual shirts.. when i have that buying power i would buy them as a reward for maself haha.

btw, cdg got few lines. the one that encroached into streetwear were the CDG PLAY line..

just like CDG, UC also does hi-end fashion on the catwalk those type like big big names (calvin klein etc)

well i have afew ax jeans and i feel thier all 1 size bigger than the normal jeans sizes.. well it depends on which brand your comparing it to i guess... and the type of cutting of jeans your buying... always best to try the jeans out at the shop though...

btw.. wana ask you guys... anyone bought stuff from the burberry online store? somehow... the US online store and the UK online store is kinda different... i saw a "slim fit polo" shirt in the US online store that has the same product number as the "polo" shirt in the UK online store... wonder if its actually the same.. scared later buy then different ><.

unfortunately people here dun regard G2000 as very expensive.. they prefer to talk about brands that most people can't affod to buy i.e. designer brands..

Shoe - anything goes, as long as nice and comfy. so far hush puppies is good enough for me.
Belt - my durable G2000.. love it..
pants - G2000 (padini/seed cutting doesn't suit me, topman don't have size 29, zara smallest also not small enough for me, any higher end brands i'll just rather tailor them)
Coat - not necessary, dun have any
Tie - anything that's nice.

as you can tell, i'm not those who go after brands.. unless i know their cutting suits me.. smile.gif

im not exactly sure the point of this thead, but im assuming it is about stating the brands that we would recommend base on those clothing categories, so lets pls get back on the topic instead of diverting to pointing out that G2000 is not "branded" enough, they are all brands, its just a matter of whether they are high end or lower end brands..

Agreed.
I am more to a value for money person who prefers to buy something that last long instead of cheap but don't last. I never tried alot of brands before but up till now these few are the brand which I am very satisfied with:

Shoes - Bally , Lacoste
Shirt - Topman
Pants(casual khaki or jeans, because for formal pants nothing beats custom tailored) - Zara, Padini
Leather products(wallet, card holder etc) - Braun Buffel
Underwear - Renoma
Watch - Tissot, Casio

watch:i like and have seiko, guess, swatch and a rado passed down from my grandpa..i like tag heuer and cartier too but havent own 1 yet..
belt:a/x for higher end brand i prefer ferragamo and aigner but havent got them yet..
slippers:quicksilver
accesories:padini and some hand made or traditional designs from those small small stalls can attract me too..but i wish to have a gucci ring..

im not exactly sure the point of this thead, but im assuming it is about stating the brands that we would recommend base on those clothing categories, so lets pls get back on the topic instead of diverting to pointing out that G2000 is not "branded" enough, they are all brands, its just a matter of whether they are high end or lower end brands..
*
yeah, but no matter how you look at it, you don't call low end local departmental brands as Branded..

no, its only you who don't call them branded..

Added on May 28, 2009, 2:43 pmas i have mentioned, this thread is about recommendations of brands based on individual clothing categories (belts, shoes, pants, etc), so lets stick to that..

i prefer prada. it's simple yet sleek. also gives you the stylish but not overly done.

armani is always great, except that they like to 'stamp' their brand on the products. :s very rarely i find nice item that doesnt show too much brand presence.

giafranco ferre is superfine. however it's usually for slim men. the cutting, design is suits my style.

crocs - their slippers are fine. the shoes are horrendous! both comfortable smile.gif

adidas/nike/puma - adidas is the closest to producing 'sporty' looks. I find nike/puma a bit into fashion rather than sports.

watches - IWC, Audemars Piguet YUMMMMMYUMMM

hugo boss is too simple, to me it's not worth the money tbh

phones - BB ftw!

as ONE grow older, one may heck care about branded clothes.. its other stuff such as house, seeing the world on nice vacation or saving money for the younger generation. guess its a phase ppl go thru.

brands I love b4 leaving the country are G.Armani, Hugo Boss, Kenneth Cole, now wouldn't go crazy about them.
today I don't even care if I am wearing a Levi/CK jeans (here is cheap just ~US$20). some of the brands view expensive here are everyday brand any tom d*** or harry working for min wage can afford such items.

Couldn't agree more with your statement, in any case branded stuff can wait.

In any case:

T-shirt : Espirit, Jonker Street Gallery
Jeans : Levis (not a fan of jeans btw)
Watches : CK (haven't got the bling to go higher)
Shoe : Aldo
Shoes as long as they have my specification, i'm fine.
- Loafers
- Wooden Sole
- leather and shinny but not too much.
- no to matt
- no oxfords (dislike shoes with laces)
Working shirt : Valentino Rudy, Cuff
handphone : sony ericsson
suit: By Zara, Slim Fit/ Pin-Strip Blazer
- can be worn
Wallet: Padini (all day and everyday), switch Mont Blanc
Card Holder: Mon Blanc

Hi guys,

Anyone here have heard ENGINEERED GARMENT or already wear it ... I've been fall in love with this brand.. just fall in love but can afford to buy it (student ma)... maybe when i've a job.

I like the design and the fabric that they use... they revived the vintage streetwear style..

Btw, just want to share the style that i'm interest..

Shirt: Workshirt & western shirt ( Engineered garment, flat head, sugar cane, levis, Uniqlo)

Jeans: Denim jeans ( any brand that offer slim silhouette - 3sixteen, rjb, flat head, dry bones)

Shoes: Recently more interest in boot... ( Clarks Desert boot )

T-shirt: Uniqlo

Had some of their shirts a few years back but noticed that the quality of their garments were awful. Although, I'm not sure if there're any improvements now.
